I work in healthcare and I cant tell you how often people call asking for permission to do things they know the answer to just hoping we will tell them yes. Like we all know it’s no.
Yep. They're APPALLED that you dare cancel their surgery. I'm like, sir/ma'am. This rule is in place so you quite literally don't inhale your own vomit mid surgery. If you were unsure, you could have easily called your doctor's office and asked why that's a rule. Some people are just dumb as a box of hammers. 🤦🏽♀️ And given the intelligence level of the general public, it's probably a good idea to tell them the repercussions of these actions.
Yeah I watched something recently about a little boy dying in surgery because his grandparents gave him apple juice cause he was crying because he was thirsty.
That sucks. Usually clear liquids (including juice) are fine up to 2 hours prior to surgery. But I think there are some exceptions to that, depending on the type of surgery.
I also work in healthcare, but in a carehome, and I get stuff like, "can you let me out please" and I of course have to gently say no, and then I'll get, "but what if you just help me sneak out? No one will know right?" what do you think 💀 (obviously this is because she has dementia, but I can easily imagine a person of sound mind being similar lol)
Ahh haha ha...I feel attacked 🤣 when I busted my knee skiing, about 1x a week id ask my doctor "so...can I ski again yet? I know you said 3 months but it feels so much better today". Or when I was recovering from frostbite and they told me I could "start walking around again", "oh ive already been doing that" and then proceeds to take it as a sign i should absolutely go on a 7 mile hike in the desert 🥴
Younger me was def reckless and a bit...stupid lol im actually working on my nursing degree at 35 yo and realizing just HOW stupid I actually was 🙃 I already snapped crackle and pop when I walk so I can't wait to see what 50 is like with the dumbness ive put my body through 🤦♀️
Exactly. I am a girls girl, she looks insanely hot but I do feel like this is a very LOOK AT ME dress when attending some other girls wedding regardless of colour.
Ehhh, I saw someone post on reddit a solid black , ankle length dress that had a strip of white at the bottom hem ask “Is this too white?” Some people take it to extremes.
Seems like her documenting for weaponized ignorance later after people get mad bc she absolutely knows its too close and why you trying to be a dinsey princess at someone else's wedding anyways weird
It's incredibly "Kendall Juenner in the cutout dress"!
If she okayed it with the Bride, and the bride enthusiastically said "Yes, wear it!!!" (As Kendall's Bride-friend supposedly did)?
Then it's FINE!
Buuuuut--with her phrasing here, of "I hope it's not too close to white...."?
That's telegraphing that she hasn't okay edit it with the Bride (and Groom!), and made sure, too, that the cleavage, mesh cutout, and thigh-slit are going to be okay with both families--and NOT seen as "Disrespectful to the Bride and Groom"
(It could/would be seen that way, at a Catholic wedding in a Church!!! It'd be 100% FINE for a Catholic Reception--but seen as "Disrespectful" for the Wedding Mass, especially if they went "Full Wedding Mass" somewhere like a Cathedral or Basilica!)
She DOES look incredibly beautiful in the gown!!
And it is absolutely stunning on her! This dress is totally made for someone with her figure, from a design standpoint!
But the color, place, time, and especially the denomination of the wedding and whether or not permission was asked & received, is thec"Unknown Factor" that makes alllllllll the difference here!
Honestly, even if the bride ok'ed it, it's still tacky to wear. The guests don't know the bride oked it, they are still going to talk about it behind her back and give her side eye and tell the story later about this rude girl at the wedding. Some ballsy aunt might even spill red wine on her.
I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. To my eyes, it didn't look too much like a wedding dress, and the sparkles seemed like they threw off the colour a bit.
Seeing this, though, this doesn't even seem like a "oh, I just really loved this dress" moment. This looks very intentionally like the brides dress, which I feel she must've seen at some point. There's no way you just accidentally wear something that's this similar
Yep. I wore a floor length, champagne dress to my friend's wedding. I sent her a pic before I bought it and she said she loved it. I had colourful accessories, including a shawl that never left my shoulders.
As a former bride with too much to worry about, when I got married, I would’ve been very annoyed to be asked about whether or not a white adjacent dress was ok. I’m not going to add to my own stress by telling you no. So I wouldn’t assume the bride always approves, just because you asked. Just wear something appropriate on your own.
And white was worn to my wedding. Everyone but me talked about it, because all my friends cared the most about it. It won’t be the bride making a big deal, it’ll be everyone else who looks at you and makes a judgement about your choice.
eta: please stop replying telling me 'oh no she actually wore this' because i've been made aware quite a few times now. i had too much faith in people not being stupid.
I hate the new thing of trying to guess whether people are rage baiting for clicks and views or if they really are just that stupid. I feel like most things fit into this category now. The bottom line is people suck either way, I guess.
I always thought that until I saw it in the wild at a wedding recently and my lord it was so bad. The bride looks stunning but an attention seeking guest showed up on in a low cut, high slit up the side, glittering, “cream pink” dress and it did take the attention off the bride bc everyone kept looking at this women like why? Even if it was to trash talk her it still created a disturbance that wasn’t fair to the bride and groom.
I was buzzed and really did not know the bride well (we are family on the grooms side) but was ready to go red wine painting for her but her sister laughed and said she is just letting it go and letting her be an embarrassment. I guess there were a few more of me around wanting to do the same. I can see it just letting them look ridiculous.
Right. At the end of the day, the whole “don’t wear white to a wedding” rule is about not seeking undue attention. The bride is the “star lady” at a wedding, and if you turn up wearing a ridiculous hat or wearing a dress like this, you’re saying “look at me! Not her—meeee!!!”
100%. this woman is gorgeous. she could wear a garbage bag and would still break necks & she knows that thats why she made this unnecessary video.
sadly women like this need constant attention or they dont feel validated. she looks great—but if someone preferably a man— doesnt tell her; then shell second guess herself.
Yup, exactly. And someone else’s wedding isn’t the place for that. I do think some people go a little overboard with outrage at the “no white at weddings” rule. People get slammed for wearing very light colors but it’s obviously not “competing” with the bride. You can still easily identify who is the bride. It’s more the spirit of trying to upstage and make someone else’s wedding about yourself. It’s why it’s tacky to publicly propose at someone else’s wedding, or announce a pregnancy.
Yeah I’ve seen people ask if it’s ok to wear a floral dress because a tiny bit of white is in the background. They got some people scared AF about the white rule. Then you got this woman thinking her dress is just fine or she really doesn’t care. Lol
My uncle told me when I was VERY young that only the bride wears white on the wedding day. At all. No white shoes, no white bag, no white shawl. He also made sure to tell me that I should only wear my second best dress because there’s no chance I could upstage the bride.
That man made sure I absolutely NEVER embarrassed myself at a wedding.
I did once see a video of a wedding where the theme was "upstage the bride" and oh my GOD it was hilarious and looked like so much fun. here's the Instagram video
Also the weird duel straps at the top….. reminds me of wearing multiple sports bras to work out or whatever (which I have no problem with!) but like…… that’s working out or being a couch potato
For a while Galia Lahav and Pnina Tornai made these dresses with crazy revealing portions imo they rarely looked good even though all their brides were white lol. Illusion fabric is not one size fits all or even most. It's super obvious when the fit or color is off. The whole point is that it's supposed to look invisible and if it doesn't then it just looks off.
The illusion mesh is the thing that makes the design *wearable, though!
It couldn't hold together without it.
Although a better color match to her skin tone, or a true "bridal illusion mesh" (as opposed to the spandex-blend this one appears to be made of--as someone who used to cut those meshes), would've been a better mesh choice.
This dress is the formal dress portion of the pageant, not “I’m here for rubber chicken and to clap for people getting married” look. You put this on an hour after bikini strutting.
There’s always one guest at every wedding that gives everyone something to side-eye. She just volunteered to be that guest. In a certain way, it’s a gift to the wedding!
If she was going to any celebration besides a wedding I’d be excited for her. She does looks stunning and happy in it, but I think she is making that a priority over etiquette and potential bad feelings.
Honestly, I like the idea of wearing your best to a wedding, like how you do with Indian and Nigerian weddings, for example.
I don’t really like the whole “don’t upstage the bride” thing that western/American weddings have. It reinforces a weird sort of competition between women, I feel.
Apparently the vast majority of people don’t because we’ve thrust them into stardom. I work with teens and it’s insane how many of them say they want to be YouTubers/Tiktokers for a living when they grow up.
I don't blame them, it seems easy and fun tbh. You just have to be good looking if you're a woman I guess, there really only seem to be uggo male streamers
it looks really cheap and not sophisticated at all. kinda like what you would expect when you ask someone to pick out a dress from a Kardashian closet.
the aesthetic screams: cheap trash baby and she's too beautiful for that bullshyt
it was an arab wedding with the bride dressed in a huge silver embellished gown, and other guests also wore glittery sparkly dresses, i feel like she knew her attire was appropriate
the “i hope it’s not too white” was probably engagement bait, she said it in 4 different videos (i went and looked) and it worked on all of them
No it wasn't an Arab wedding. The bride & her husband are both white. That is the only other woman dressed like that. Majority of them are actually dressed like this woman here.
You should've checked the bride's Instagram, not the influencers. There are no other sparkly, glittery gowns and the influencer actually has been edited out of photos the photographer took/bride&groom shared.
thank you hahaha the number of white people commenting on this and having absolutely zero knowledge of what arab weddings are like is driving me insane. this is perfectly normal, the bride’s dress was definitely 10x as intense as hers
A Disney Princess wouldn't wear a white dress (or close enough to white that she has to question it) to a wedding. At least a smart one (Belle, Tiana, etc.) wouldn't.
I can’t get over her saying that cause you’re right! Plus a Disney princess isn’t wearing a dress with a slit so high you can’t wear underwear AND if you “feel like a princess” on your way to someone else’s wedding you’ve done it wrong. Someone there SHOULD feel like a princess and it’s not the guests
Isn’t the middle eastern….? We have different rules/standards for our weddings. The “don’t wear white” rule is fairly new and more of a western concept for us. Every Arab wedding I’ve been to has multiple people wearing dresses close to white or close to this color and no one bats an eye. There’s no “trying to upstage the bride” bc lol you literally won’t.
Weddings are not the fucking Met Gala. They are celebrations of someone who is not you. Just put on the $80 dress from Nordstrom, eat some prime rib, do the chicken dance, and go home.
If I saw this guest at the wedding I would immediately think “oh this woman has low self-esteem.” Why else would you need to so blatantly draw attention away from the bride and groom?
This is such a good example of main character syndrome lmao. Like, this is someone else’s wedding, not your wedding or your high school prom. There is nothing wrong with looking good at a wedding but having to get every detail perfect when you aren’t the bride is so weird to me.
I'm not Arab, but I've been to a few Arab, Indian, and Nigerian weddings and am so confused by the people in this comment section saying that the entire dress is too much. Have we never been to a super formal/lavish or ethnic wedding??
The color is questionable, but she would stand out more if the dress was any less elaborate.
people like this kill me. the need to be the main character is so bad that she would wear something like this to a wedding. while it’s a pretty dress, she looks like she could be the bride, and she knows it.

“I hope it’s not too close to white”
If you wonder if it’s too close to white, assume that it is
