Dressed like a Bride (Re-Upload) Wedding Guest wore custom-made gown

Reupload to blur out the faces. She double down and made a FB post about how women shouldn't tear each other down.....

Maybe there is another post that I missed but the bride’s dress to me looks like a reception dress that people change into if their dress is too heavy/extravagant to wear all night.

Maybe, but it still means the dress code is unlikely to be black tie - a bride wouldn't wear this even just for the reception if the dress code is black tie and everyone else is wearing ball gowns. What is the point of having a black tie wedding if you're not even going to wear black tie yourself to the reception? I could see a dress change if the dress was heavy and difficult to dance in, but I think she would still choose another black tie dress to change into, just a lighter and more flexible one.

For the record, I think the guest’s dress is totally inappropriate regardless. But anecdotally I’ve seen quite a bit of 1) brides wearing a far more casual reception dress (including many who change into sneakers) than the dress code and 2) weddings that state a “formal” dress code on the website or invite when it’s clear the bride/groom don’t actually know what formal entails and just don’t want people to show up in jeans.

I’ve worn gowns (NOTHING like this) to weddings with a stated “formal” dress code and been totally overdressed so that one is a particular bugaboo.

Absolutely, but I've never seen this at a black tie wedding.

I’ve been to 2 black tie weddings where the bride did this! This is not something in particular that bothers me. I feel like the bride kind of gets a pass on whatever. It’s not something I’d do, but I don’t have much thought of it.

I think with Tik tok/instagram reels brides these days are so oversaturated with “trends” and try to just muddle all the things they like together. Like they see these videos of these gorgeous gala weddings and go “ooh I want that” and then also people posting about the fact that it’s their day and they should get to be comfortable. Like I said it’s not for me but it something I’ve seen across my social circles.

I think some people (the hosts/bride & groom) truly don't know what black tie formal means.. so they put it so no one shows up in jeans, but then those who know what it means show up overdressed.

My fiance & I went to a wedding & it said black tie... he was the only one in a SUIT & no one was in a tux. It was dress pants & slacks/ cocktail attire at best. He felt awkward & overdressed, despite being under dressed for a black tie event.

I did some stalking and the bride’s dress for the ceremony was definitely more elaborate and this was a less formal reception one, you’re right!

I just dug a little more and saw pics of the wedding party. The bride has a fancy dress on, not the one in these pics. I think she might changed into that dress for the reception. Also, there’s like a full picture of the venue and it looks decorated a bit fancy. Also there’s a pic with the groom and he is wearing a whole fancy suit and whatnot.

Yeah, you can see in the fb post the bottom of a photo where the bride is clearly in a floor length wedding dress.

No, that’s the guests outfit still, it’s the same as another pic in the album 😥
