Discussion [For your murder]

I just finished for your murder and I don’t know what to think about it. One side I think it was such a good story with a great plot but the other side I feel like it didn’t exactly scratch my itch. I started the manhwa because I was in a desperate need for an obsessive yandere kinda story. But it wasn’t a story as such. I mean I get it because there was this other psychopathic aspect to it. I really thought I would be a fan of Inseop until I got to read his back story. I think I was cheering for the detective way more than this guy. I’m actually surprised no one has talked about the detective. Whenever there was a single panel of Inseop being hot people were jumping up and down but my cutie patootie detective guy was left aside. But still it had a lot of moments where I was kicking my feet worrying about what might happen next. I am so interested on what everyone thinks about the story.

I was just glad that for once we had a male lead that was a terrible person actually be a villain in a story and not a misunderstood baby who just "needed the right girl to fix him."

I, like most people, was iffy on the ending. I think would have felt better paced if it was split into two episodes, but on top of that, I think it would have more satisfying if Gijeong had been the one to kill Inseop. I thought all of that caterpillar and mantis imagery was building up to that, but I can see what the author was going for. In spite of some grievances, I still enjoyed it as a whole.

I had a lot of trouble reconciling Iseop’s actions past the midpoint of the story, based on my assumptions related to his motivations - that he was born am emotionally broken person that doesn’t understand what love is but obsessively collects items tied to different types of love between people. Reading the author’s epilogue, it aounds like they intended for Inseop to realize by the end he really did love Gijeong, like understood what love was for the first time and that it was too late because of his past actions. But that didn’t come across to me in the story itself unfortunately. Ultimately I am glad the story did not try to redeem him, as there was no logical way for them to be together without severely compromising Gijeong’s personality more than the author alreqdy did.

On that note - What I do HATE about the story though was how it wanted us - and Gijeong - to forgive all the horrible people in Gijeong’s life. Like why should she want to stay friends with that girl who was awful to her? Besides Giseong, Inseop was totally right about everyone else’s toxic presence in her life. No they didn’t deserve to die but they needed to be gone. I hate the story tries to push some idea that it wasn’t all that bad. What is the motivation there?

I thogught it was somewhere between Never Ending Darling and…Cheese in the Trap? But yeah that ending was notttt itttt spoilers but i didnt understand what the author was trying to convey? Did they want us to rebuke him? Sympathise with him? Did they want us to feel bad for the FL only? Like ik its not black & white but they could have given us a general idea of what they wanted to convey at least

Even the spin-off is better😭😭
