English 🇬🇧 Student Housing Warning: Tribera Warsaw
If you are an exchange student or moving to Warsaw this semester/next semester and looking at private student dorms or coliving spaces: do your research and do not trust the 3D renders on their websites.
My roommate and I are currently paying €1,200/month total for a room in a newly marketed private student complex, thinking we were getting a finished, turn-key place with modern community amenities. Instead, we were moved into what is literally an active, unfinished construction site and management refuses to take responsibility.
Here is what living here actually looks like:
There is heavy construction here every weekday between 9-6. All day your room is bombarded with drilling, construction noise. So loud you can hear it with AirPods on noise cancellation while on maximum volume. Sometimes your ground shakes.
Best part is, rogue workers are walking around and working before authorized work hours, which they ask you to report to the security (because security can’t do its basic job)
Multiple days you wake up for false fire alarms due to construction negligence because they start working before permitted hours around 6 and then trip off the smoke detectors. At this point it’s impossible to know what’s a real alarm and what’s fake. Management then claims it’s not real fire alarms but if it’s set off by the smoke alarms, they wouldn’t actually know unless they verify in person. Again reflecting safety issues. In one week there was around 15 alarms.
Utilities are unstable: hot water temp. fluctuates from steaming hot to ice cold when you shower. Water is sometimes piss yellow or brown. Elevators break down more often than they work. But they still only permit the usage of 2/4. Today neither worked while a fire escape stair was closed off. Major security hazard again.
The gym is underwhelming, under equipped. There’s 1 bench, 1 barbell, biggest dumbell is 10kg, biggest plate is 15kg
There is 0 financial accountability: When confronted with formal legal complaints requesting a proportional rent reduction for living on a construction site, management stalls by claiming bureaucracy within the company while insisting we continue paying 100% full price.
Warsaw is a great city with plenty of completed, reputable apartments and verified dorms where the same amount of money will get you a finished modern flat without the sleep deprivation.
If a student housing brand in Warsaw looks brand new, promises "luxury living," and already has poor recent reviews complaining about noise or incomplete facilities: believe the reviews. Don't lock yourself into a multi-month contract here.
