Review I bought the new GSW Inch Tape Measure so you don't have to
I was looking for inches-only tape measure and was happy to see that GSW is offering one (https://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/tape-measure/4556-gsw-inch-tape-measure.html). At £4.89 (that I paid for) it costs about the same as GW tape measure.
However, the GSW tape measure is of poor quality. Comparing it to the standard GW tape measure and a generic tools brand tape measure (Magnusson), the mechanism in GSW appears to be of a significantly lower quality. Unlike the other two, the tape does not automatically lock in place. Instead, you need to lock it manually. The issue is that the locking mechanism instils zero faith in me, and even normal use will result in the tape being pulled in aggressively. The reel mechanism is triggered by pulling the tape out a bit. In my testing, it was way too easy to trigger the reel mechanism. In general, the GSW tape measure doesn't feel good to use.
I like the inches only tape purely for legibility reasons, but I will be returning the GSW tape back as it does not justify its existence.
TL;DR - your standard GW tape measure is better than GSW Inch Tape Measure.

Question 1/73 or ~1” medieval cavalry?
Ages ago I bought some medieval footmen off temu for the kids.
I e found out about battles of Westeros and I figure the figures can be reused for that. But I don’t got horses.
Are they any recommendations for bulk medieval cavalry?

Recently Finished New Mini release
Hey everyone! The new Trooper is available to everyone now. It'll be featured in the upcoming Sidus Front Shareware manual. It's PWYW in case you want to support my work. It's scaled to 32mm and prints support free though requires glue to put together.
I'm pretty proud of myself cause I put this together myself without using someone else's template.Let me know what you think!

Dynamite Gun Colors?
Hey everyone. Got a dynamite gun for my colonial wargaming, from Gringo 40’s.
Wondering if anyone knows what colors it should be painted. I’ve read a bunch reports about its use and how fussy of a weapon it was but nothing on the colors. Push comes to shove I’ll do my standard artillery gun metal grey with some brass details.

Playtesters needed for 1-2 player asymmetric Roman guerrilla warfare game
Hello everyone,
I have designed a game for a BGG wargame contest. The name of the game is The Lost Eagles and it is a 1-2 player, asymmetric, Roman guerrilla warfare game.
One player takes on the role of the Romans led by the general Varus (yeah, the one from Teutoburg). The Romans have to pacify the wilderness of Germania east of the Rhine river. They are strong, almost untouchable in battles, but are slow and have to deal with constant supply issues. But, Rome can rely on Arminius in order to speed things up.
The Germans on the other hand have to harass and raid Roman armies and locations in order to kill their campaign momentum. And remember Arminius? Yeah, 2017 year old spoiler, but he is a traitor. Romans may use him to speed things up, but Germans can then exploit his influence to make Roman lives even worse than they are already.
And the game also has a solo mode that I think some of you that like the Pandemic may like.
Play time is usually at 60-90 minutes once you know the rules. And I would say that the game’s weight is medium at most.
The game is available online on screentop, or as PnP.
Here are the rules for the game.
It would mean a lot to me if you can provide any feedback on rules or the game itself, and I hope you have fun and enjoy it!

Anyone know what happened to Zeo Genesis?
The title says it all, this game made a huge splash last year and a lot of prominent channels were talking about it, but then the buzz around it got super quiet. It was supposed to hit retail eventually, maybe still is? It did look really fun and the convo around it was very positive.

Question What's your least favorite MECHANIC in modern wargames?
For me it's multiple health tracks. It seems like we usually have something like Hit Points then a Wounded/Harm/Injury status effect that is for glancing hits or grazes. Usually it either is "temporary damage" or a multiplier if you hit them again.
I've seen this Mechanic in Starcraft and Fallout Factions. Though my description is pretty generalized. My preference is for hit points to be the tracker for multi-wound/hit point models.

Soviets!
Minimal painting time this week (again) but repainted some Warlord Games Soviets painted with contrast way back. A drybrush, some wash and a few highlights. I’ll fix the bases when the rest is done. Got another 20 or so to do.

Recently Finished Price’s 14th Regiment of Foot – The Road to Culloden
Another unit joins the Government army in my ongoing 28mm Culloden project!
Price's 14th Regiment of Foot were among the British regulars who faced the Jacobite army at the Battle of Culloden on 16 April 1746. Fielding 304 rank and file on the day. Casualties were one killed nine wounded.
Every unit brings me one step closer to recreating the armies that fought on Culloden Moor. There’s still a long way to go but the collection is steadily growing!
Figures are 3d printed resin miniatures ive printed myself from battlecat miniatures. Flags are from Flags of War
Follow along with my Road to Culloden project on youtube!

Recently Finished Fokker D-VI (1:144)
This is my most recent 1:144 WW1 aeroplane modelling effort, the Fokker D-VI.
I've painted them as they would have been delivered from the factory, in all-over printed lozenge fabric. Later on they would have had their colour scheme personalised according to the individual pilot's taste, or according to a Jasta scheme.

Recently Finished Fist Full of Tows III German Heavy "Tiger" Battalion
Finished the second battalion for my German WW2 forces. Heavy Panzer Battalion, Tigers and P38s. Rules are Fist Full of Tows and have taken some liberties by using P38s instead of PIIIs. Based on 30 x 30 mm MDF magnetised bases. Not camouflaged as I'm organising late 1942.
Miniatures are Heroics and Ross if I remember correctly.
