First bike, 1984 Suzuki GS400E
Picked this up for $200 for a winter project. It's got a swapped '79 425cc that somehow doesn't line up with the mounts correctly (see last pic). It runs real lean and also some other love. Should be fun

I made bags for my r65
Is there really such a thing is too many bags?
I made a set of leather bags for my bmw r65. The bike underneath isn't that pretty, and my craft is mostly leather, so this was my solution.
This is too much bag, I know. But now I have packing options depending on the ride.
(The big saddlebags are a bit too low right now, I am going to raise them a few centimeters)
It is my plan to have it painted dark blue or dark green during the off season this winter. Which color do you think would fit best?

1984 TS185 help!
Gday all,
Rebuilding my dad’s 1984 TS185ER as a gift for his birthday.
I’ve rebuilt the carb, got it running but it won’t run with the float height at factory (no fuel flow to the bowl) but it will flood the bowl and poor fuel from the overflow if I go any higher…any thoughts would be appreciated.
Also going to have to replace the left and right main bearing seals and bearings due to a leak causing excessive smoke and no idle without stall so any help there would also be great

Yamaha R5 Rescue
Picked this up a couple of weeks ago. Sat in a farm field for decades.
Front wheel locked up. Rear wheel barely moves. Chain virtually rust welded. No ignition switch. Seat pan rusted out. Air filter disintegrated and air box rusted out. All cables seized. Oil pump seized. No battery harness. No rear blinkers. Tires from the early 80s and shot. Mud, dirt, brush, cobwebs, dust from sitting for at least two decades in a farm field.
Went around whole bike unseizing stuff with WD40 and PBlaster.
Removed front wheel to unseize it so bike could be moved around. Brake shoes had delaminated and the pads were stuck to the drum still. Removed chain for ease of movement as well. Rear brake in similar condition. Cleaned wheels up and replaced tires, tubes et cetera.
Pulled heads and removed carbon build up from heads and dome of piston. Inspected bores and cleaned up.
Took carbs off, dismantled and cleaned in ultrasonic. Got rebuild kits and replaced gaskets, needle and fuel valves.
Made up a battery harness myself vs ordering and waiting. Got modern reg/rec. Hotwired the ignition. Bought battery. Bought new points. Bought dial gauge. Timed. Used premix since I assumed the oil pump was shot. Kicked and fiddled and kicked and adjusted and kicked.
Noticed exhaust baffles were plugged up so removed temporarily. Kicked and kicked.
Got used ignition switch and ordered a key based on code. Rebuilt ignition switch and rekeyed barrel to match key.
Horn, brake light and blinkers work. Blinkers don't blink and headlight doesn't work.
Kick and fiddle and kick and adjust and kick and kick.
Starts turning over intermittently.
Take a look at oil pump. Clean up in place and douse in WD40. Unseize and get it working. Realize the oil pump and premix is keeping it from firing. Swap out premix to straight uncut premium.
Kick and kick and adjust and fiddle and it finally starts and runs!

1960 Royal Enfield Meteor Minor Sport 500
The speedometer that came with my 1960 Meteor Minor, was one of the cheap made in India Smiths nock-offs, which in itself wasn't a problem because it was working fine, except it is calibrated for 19" wheels and not 17" wheels.
So I've now tracked down the correct speedometer for my model and year which is calibrated for 17" wheels. Genuine smiths Chronometric in concourse condition.
The next job is to sort the bad oil leak at the rear of the cylinders, which is making my right hand boot an oily mess.

1953 Vincent Black Shadow
Previously owned by Roland Baker and Big Sid.
Roland Baker was one of the youngest fighter pilots in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Later in life, he owned 2 Black Shadows.
This was his spare.
He bought it off the original owner in Mass. in the 1960s.
Baker was killed in a motorcycle accident in Tennessee, in 1994.
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/315940/roland_henry-baker
The motorcycle was then bought off his widow by his friend Sid Biberman (Big Sid).
https://www.cycleworld.com/2013/08/15/big-sid-biberman-legendary-vincent-motorcycle-builder/
It went through a couple of owners in Florida after Sid sold it.
I bought it at auction in LA and spent 10 years restoring it.
It was a bit of an unloved motorcycle, it had a vibration at speed that no one seemed to be able to figure out.
Sid had mentioned that to me not long after I bought it.
When I bought it, it was also suffering from low compression.
I took the engine to Ken Rosevear, a British motorcycle specialist and machinist in Ontario, Canada.
Ken determined that the connecting rods were not weight-matched and corrected it.
That fixed the vibration.
Steve Hamel, in Minnesota, restored the top end.
https://www.mprnews.org/story/2009/01/01/st-paul-enthusiast-aims-for-record-setting-speeds
It would step-up to 85 miles an hour with ease and with plenty to spare.
Rock-solid on the road, a great handling motorcycle.
I sold it at auction in Las Vegas in 2016.
It had less than 14,000 miles on it, all numbers matching.
