I got tired of constantly getting up to change the volume so I attached a small dc motor with an IR receiver to the volume nob. Works subrisingly well!

I know it doesn't look as pretty with that belt but the comfort is very beneficial.

In the past few months I’ve picked up red and yellow Weltrons, a couple Dynamite 8’s, a Toot a Loop, and a R77 Calendar. Love this aesthetic. Now to sell some of my other treasures so I can continue my hunt!

We just bought a new house and this was left behind. It was all hooked up to speakers (that you guys would KILL me for having already donated 🫣) so I think it works but really don’t know. It’s heavy as heck but after researching it I would love it to go to someone that cares about it. Any of you near the central coast of California or want to pay the shipping plus a bit of time? Apologies for not washing it up before taking the terrible photos.

I have a classic audio setup that I am going too have to liquidate in November Its in the San Francisco Bay Area

Father passed away he worked at Pacific Stereo and Cal Hi-Fi back in the day. This was his home audio setup, I got to grow up listening to my records on it. Unfortunately we have to liquidate it. It was all working a few years ago but it looks like the turntable has some issues. I would like to find a place for it in the San Francisco Bay Area as shipping the speakers and cabinet will be very expensive. Please let me know if you know of any resources I could approach about selling the entire set and having it picked up. Thanks!

Sudden audio distortion issue

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I've had this setup for over 15 years. I moved recently, set it up today, and now it has this constant audio distortion. It happens with or without the turntable plugged in and I still hear it in my headphones, so I know it isn't the speakers. Any ideas? 1970's Pioneer SX-750

Looking for an early 80s Sony amp to pair with my setup aestheticly

The setup includes:

Profeel KX-1901A CRT

VTX-1000R Tuner

SL-5000 Betamax

A TBD DVD player

A pair of SS-X1A speakers

A pair of SS-X10A speakers

The Sony MVL-1100 seems to be an amplifier sold around this time period to be used with TVs, but I couldn't find the specs for it anywhere. Would you recommend one for a setup like this, or would a different amplifier be better?

Looking at Sony amplifiers from the time period, 1980-1983, I've found the following:

  • TA-AX 2

  • TA-AX 3

  • TA-AX 4

  • TA-AX 5

  • TA-AX 6

  • TA-AX 7

  • TA-AX 8

  • TA-AX 35

Would you recommend anything from this series? Or is there another Sony model that you would recommend from the time period?

I'm not super concerned with the performance/quality of the amplifier. I just want something that matches the aesthetic and will allow me to use both pairs of speakers.

Thanks for your time. Let me know if I can clarify anything.

Dual 1245 - cartridge connection fix? Proper assembly? Someone tried to fix, do it wrong?

I looked at the service manual but can’t find a proper installation of that black clip and the board with wires coming out of the tone arm. I suspect someone messed around with this and also couldn’t figure it out as they have the wires connecting the cartridge are not in the correct color coordination. Did they not properly rewire the little board with the wires coming out of the tone arm?

Please be kind - all my other turntables are just screw in head shells and this is my first Dual.

I am just looking for a a pic or video of this is supposed to go and can figure it out from there.

The four posts are holding the dividers in place (they seem to be some kind of work screws). I cant figure out how to get the dividers free.

I’m currently looking at replacement speakers for my 1st gen RF7’s and I came across this ad for some JBL L7’s. Any thoughts on why the mid and woofer surrounds are wrinkled like that? I’ve seen this on quite a few used speakers for sale. My first guess is that they were overdriven but I’m not positive

Realistic Optimus 4 positioning

These guys typically come with stickers on the bottom indicating how to position them, but mine are missing. Can anyone assist me with setup? I assumed that the little side tweeters should both face inwards, but both speakers have them on the right side. They were $26 for the pair at savers and sound pretty great as is, but I’ll definitely take a peek inside soon to see what’s going on. I snagged them thinking they were just cool, heavy side tables, and was delighted when I saw the connectors for speaker wire on the bottom when loading them into my car.

I’m not great with Reddit and it’s not letting me add a picture, but I’ll try to edit or put one in the comments.

Hooked up to Design Acoustics PS 8b. 55 watts. It makes a beeping noise when in radio search. Those who remember Japanese cars from the 1980s will appreciate all the lights. A couple pluses for the era are that they are colorful, much lighter than the hefty ones from a decade prior, still have a phono amp but may include some more modern input options. And JVC equalizer known as S.E.A, is a nice touch.

Picked up this beautiful Marantz CD-3577 and it sounds incredible. Can’t find too much info about it online, seems like there’s a handful of listings and not too many details.
