Discussion / Question Do you support key shops?

Key Shops offer a lot of games for a much lower price than, for example, Steam.
Are they legit in your opinion? Or why do you pay more with other sources?
Over years, i've buyed a lot of games in key shops and never had a problem with them at Steam, Epic or Ubi.

Where I buy my gamepass every month, I love it!

Oh shit, that’s a good idea. I cancelled, but if I can pay like $12, I’m back in.

Yup, about $12-$13 every month. Can't beat it

I only use the ones that show up on isthereanydeal.com. Zero issues with them so far

Ive paid full price for 1 game in the last 5 years as a result. Even when buying at launch

I only use them for gamepass keys and Ubisoft/EA published games.

I don’t usually buy the games themselves in these shops because I very rarely find them cheaper than in the store, but it comes in handy for getting cheap Game Pass

Fuck yeah, why wouldn’t I?

I’m not going to buy some indie game there, but some mid shit like Wolverine for like 80% off? Yeah all day.

I think they're legit. I always think it's odd when people say that fraud is the only reason they exist. Because if the idea was to move money, I think they'd only scam sell the type of games we'd run each other over to get for a discount, and that isn't the case.

Usually when I sort by lowest value, it's a bunch of games that have poor or need better reviews, and I'd imagine it works since so many people prefer not to share when they got something for a great deal... By that process, a well reviewed game gotten for a dollar might make those companies more, since on steam, reviewing a game might display on the feed of your friends. If those people hear how you speak of that game and don't know you got it for a dollar, they might pay full price for it.

That might genuinely payoff more than paying for advertising, since it's exactly where people can buy the game.

I just don't like the idea of them. I play on Steam and for any game I feel is worthy to buy, I want to be 100% certain my money is going to support the devs, as well as Steam itself. And keys take away one of those, if not both. I'd rather pay a couple extra dollars for a bit more convenience and assurance that my money is going where I want it to go.

There's nothing wrong with key shops, especially since all the stores have made it crystal clear that we don't actually "own" games, we're just renting a license.

I just don’t see the point

Save money? For more games?
