Like ok dude, great, cool, im glad you found you and you know what you want.

It's so bizarre.

On one hand I can acknowledge Rockstars shady business practices. EA levels of greed dude.

On the other end, I personally believe Rockstar is one of those studios who sets the gaming landscape bar higher with every release. Other games have done that since the last GTA game, like Baulders Gate 3, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, so my argument isn't that Rockstar is the only company that does this. Also I'm not going to sit here and defend GTA online (as that's the go to critique for the crowd OPs photo is describing), but I don't play GTA for online. I just think Rockstar makes high quality games, and their track history speak for itself: Bully, GTA series, Red Dead 1 & 2, Midnight Club series, Max Payne, The Warriors, LA Noir.

I understand not caring for a game, it just seems there's some desire to "be different" when you go about constantly letting others know you don't care about said game.

Just my 2 cents.

I get the feeling there's something else going on, more than shady actions from rockstar for it to cause rejection (remember they were praising the crunch of RDR2 , it got people excited not the opposite) there isn't quite as much excitement (by comparison), is there?

A lot of people are waiting for it, but the hype doesn't seem as massive as it was for GTA V or RDR2. I mean, back then, Rockstar simply posting an "R" logo caused a huge stir.

(Then again, maybe it's just because I'm not personally looking forward to it, unlike with RDR2.)

The trailer made a splash, but perhaps the excitement fizzled out due to repeated delays, leaks, controversies, the FPS cap, and the fact that the evolution seems minimal, leaving people thinking, "Oh, well, it's just GTA V v2."

Whereas the jump from RDR1 to RDR2 felt like a move to something far more detailed, larger, and truly immense.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, though, I’m not particularly invested in the game's development. View this as an outsider's perspective; I’d even encourage you to compare my comments with those of someone who has actually followed the game closely and might be more enthusiastic about it, for reasons that i might not even know.

Edit 1 : I also wonder if a sense of nausea might arise when faced with the sheer immensity of the world.

Take the treasure hunts in RDR1, for example: the map was relatively small and packed with highly memorable landmarks, making the treasure hunts quite straightforward—especially if you tackled them later in the game. In RDR2, you come across a large number of treasure maps (they’re more cryptic, though that’s not the main point I want to make); there are so many of them, and the map itself is so vast, that I find it impossible to remember every detail of the game’s environment. (I don’t think this is a major issue, though, it likely only affects a small minority of players.)

And there’s something else we often overlook: GTA V came out 13 years ago.

People who weren’t interested in the game back then might simply no longer be interested now.

Thirteen years is a massive span of time.

Could it be that the very same people who were once waiting for GTA V have simply developed different tastes over the last 13 years?

Or perhaps even those who were hyped between the reveal and the release of GTA VI have since shifted their interest toward other games?

That’s why people talk about it might seem strange, but someone could have considered GTA 5 their favorite game, only to find they no longer have any excitement for the next installment, simply because they themselves have changed, not the game. It’s a bit like people who shift from multiplayer games to single-player ones, or from PvP to PvE, taste evolve too.

That's a valid point. I think the delays, and leaks especially made it to where the anticipation took a hit. At the same time, just looking at the gameplay, I would say there is a significant jump in quality. Sure RDR2 compared to RDR was such a huge leap it leaves me in awe, but the jump thus far seems fairly substantial from GTA 5 to 6.

I will say much of my excitement comes from playing RDR2 and loving the RAGE 8 engine and imagining how the RAGE 9 engine will feel in a contemporary setting like Vice City.

I can only speak for myself, but there are multiple reasons I'm super excited for GTA 6. For one, based on what Rockstar has already revealed to us, the game looks absolutely gorgeous, and there is a level of detail in this game that has not been present in any GTA game before. Rockstar is known for making massively detailed open worlds, and this game is no exception. As a long-time GTA fan, I am so glad that they are re-implementing many things from previous games into this one. Examples include improved car physics, the ability to lose and gain weight by eating food, and the ability to gain muscle and other stats by working out. There are a shit ton of mini-games too, such as basketball, tennis, mini golf, pool, jet skiing, hunting, and fishing. Especially on the last two, they are vastly improving the hunting mechanics from GTA V and even Red Dead 2, which already had a fantastic hunting simulator. There is improved NPC A.I in this game, as Rockstar has entire patents out specifically for NPC intelligence.

As far as new systems and mechanics go, the biggest is a vastly improved wanted system. You can commit crimes and get away with them if no one witnesses you do them, or if you aren't caught on camera. If you are caught, there are now multiple layers to how the cops work in this game. They can identify you based on how you look, what clothes you had on, what car you were driving, whether you were on CCTV, and whether or not you were partnered when you committed the crime. This makes it so the cops won't just leave you alone after you're done with a crime spree; they can find and identify you later on if you are not careful. They'll even linger around the store or bank that you robbed, doing investigations long after you leave. That shit is cool as hell to me.

Not to mention, there are supposed to be far more interiors across the map that you can enter than there ever has been in any other Rockstar game. All of these things mean so much to me as someone who has followed every GTA release since Vice City, and I can imagine other fans of the series feel the same.
