Hello vacaville residents! I was alerted about your presence here through some of your members on tiktok, as I have been distributing city council insider information and I was encouraged to post here. I'm not going to be dishonest about who I am, My name is Davonna Finley, i am your city council district 4 candidate. I have been advising city council for years to be active on Social media amongst other things, and well, i'm finally frustrated enough to be running for a seat to get things done Myself.
I've always said what I have to say with my full chest, and in the spirit of reddit i'm happy to spill the tea.
I have a youtube creator reward on my wall And i'm active on all social media platforms, for better or worse, I have been very forthcoming about who I am, my ideals and stances on just about everything. I am running with the endorsement of Sarah Chapman The current district 4 council women who is now running to be mayor. As well as the endorsements of all democratic Party affiliates in the area. Though the city it's labeled as nonpartisan, A lot of you are very correct in seeing the very clear breakdown between the candidates. One sides demographic breakdown is 100% identical without so much as variation in gender.
I have met all of the candidates and though publicly cordial, the shenanigans are very evident to me. First off, there's history between john carli the current mayor and sarah chapman who once served as vice mayor and is currently running for the mayoral seat. Sarah Chapman is the one who went over John Carlis head to sign the proclamation relating to the pride flag When john refused. Typically, you will see john carli closely linked up with roy stockton, who is running against miss chapman for mayor and the two of them including John Vogel ( my opponent) tom chalk and Kevin ( something) look, he's a decent enough guy, but jeanette has been carrying district 6 for I think eight years now sooo i'm not going to worry about kevin too much. Either way, you'll see their signage closely linked up and inundating the district 4 area, Especially the gas stations. Like I said, if you pay attention, the "nonpartisan" sides are very obvious. As is the locations of the signage heavily in district 4 carried by miss chapman and currently my boundary. I know, they desperately do not want her to be mayor or me in a seat on the council Because, well, I do things like this, utilize social media and speak with people honestly.
So what you've missed: there have been several candidate forms in which all of the candidates came out to answer questions before the public. ( All are available on youtube) All candidates except, kevin, we're present at the chamber of commerce forum. However, roy stockton and john vogel chose to be absent at the vacaville people's form. Roy released a statement basically accusing the league of women voters who hosted the form of being partisan, and bias twords miss chapman who has donated to the nonprofit organization throughout the last decade To the tune of a couple thousand dollars though he implied much more. Either way, the league of women voters does not issue endorsements, nor monetary support of candidates. However, the chamber of commerce forum does, though no one had complaints about that 🤔 i actually spoke with her myself about this and filmed it to be uploaded on tiktok soon. Personally, and this is just me speaking. I think that neither roy nor john Vogel wanted to answer the questions presented at the league of women voters because some of the questions we're about supporting diversity and the LGBTQ+. To my knowledge, john is extremely conservative Christian, and I don't think it would be advantageous for him to participate in that conversation. Now that I think about it, tom chalk, went to the fairfield forum Instead that day, maybe it's a possibility he knew what questions would be presented as well? Just putting my head thoughts down.
So far as I know, all of the candidates have also sat down with the fire and police unions. Myself knowing how their endorsements typically swing, I did not hold hope in my heart for their endorsement, though, I was happily early to meet with them Myself. I will be honest, I anticipated they would judge/ underestimate me Based on my age and how I looked, something I have unfortunately gotten used to. However, they surprised me when I got the call that they would not be participating in endorsements between myself and my competitor at all, which I highly respected of them. I've been wanting to assist vacaville PD with their community connection and recruitment for a while, and it meant a lot to me that it seemed they would be happy to work together, or deem me worthy in a sense. They likely know it's a big deal for me to be willing to personally, support and assist them as it's not something that I would do with any And every police division. I have been very critical of other departments. So the situation warmed my heart a little. ( Yes, I have seen some of the posts here about the police department. I've had some complaints myself. I'm hoping I get the opportunity to establish open communication with the police chief and make all of our experiences with vacaville PD better)
As for myself, yes, tea on me as well. I've accidentally become a relatively successful youtuber speaking on beauty pageants, and the social, environmental and political issues that the women representatives must speak on themselves. I have both served as a representative and been an international judge known to be very outspoken and unafraid of a fight, sometimes relishing in it. What can I say I'm in Aries I love a good battlefield. I detest a bully, and will call anyone out if I feel it's necessary and have frequently done so. I was a fitness competitor yes, those photos are readily available and i'm not embarrassed about them. I am an admin of a motorcycle group that frequently hosts rides with solano county bikers. I've spent fifteen years in senior care, currently serving as a director in a memory care community. My education primarily is political science, and i've worked in the fairfield, suisun unified school district. I'm very much a normal person, and have no intention of becoming the polished politician Some people have asked me to be, in hiding aspects of myself That may be deemed frightening to voters. I don't see my history as a bodybuilder, as bad nor the photos of my physique. I absolutely love being a biker, and i'm not gonna lie like I don't enjoy a good margarita. I have gained my following on and off the internet through honesty and authenticity so i'm not giving up my platforms. I'm not going to stop speaking directly to the people having to have discussions about politics and the ongoing business of vacaville, truthfully, I believe it's what we need to create awareness and involvement with you And the rest of the public. I have been a public speaking coach candidate advisor and outspoken advocate, with no intention of changing my personality to suit a more polished public persona. Though I do have a thorough grasp of professionalism im just not one to "fit in" just to satisfy someone else's standards. That's not what I believe a leader to be. My uniqueness vitality and fearlessness, I think, is what is needed And that's why i'm running. To give a voice to the frustrated neighbors that I have Heard and discussed with in the neighborhood app and facebook groups. I'm not going to ask for your vote, just for your involvement in vacaville city buissness. Show up to the forums, show up to the meetings and be involved as much as possible. I will assist as much as I can, utilizing all of my established social media. I respect you all enough for you to know weather or not, I fall in line with your priorities or political beliefs. I'm not here to advocate for myself. Just give you, I think, pertinent information on all of the candidates. So far as I know all of the candidates have established Websites for further information. If I do happen to be elected be fore warned, you will be seeing me in a very authentic way on certain platforms. Whether it be discussing my day in my strawberry shortcake hoodie or ranting about highway 37 traffic in my car ( hands free device) I intend on being a very transparent "politician" about my goals beliefs and dreams for myself and the city we reside in. BTW yes, I am voting for sarah for mayor. Voting day is november 3rd.
