[Megathread] Site/App Complaints Central

This is your safe support group to share gripes and complaints about the new UX.

The new Uniqlo redesign sucks - you know, I know, we all know it. Due to popular demand as the mods of r/uniqlo we're creating a centralized containment thread for site sucks sentiments, because every time Uniqlo switches another country-specific site to the redesign we get a fresh wave of complaints.

We are an unofficial subreddit and we are not paid by Uniqlo. As such we can't guarantee Uniqlo will read or take any action based on complaints.

Please note that site sucks threads outside of this thread are now not allowed. If you see any please report it using the new rule. This will not apply to threads created before the megathread.

Quality downgrade?

Hi,

I always thought that Uniqlo was trying to use as much of natural fabric as possible compared to other fast fashion brands. But it looks like I was wrong.

Here are the Chinos pants from last year

Here are the new ones

Looks like I need to find another place to buy my pants.

uniqlo flagship store experience!

• Upvotes

i've worked at a uniqlo flagship store in the US as an A1 for about a year and a half and wanted to share my experience, both the positives and negatives - because holiday season is approaching, i hope this helps some of you new hires

management:

for the most part, i really loved my upper management team (GM + AM): if we ever had an issue with a customer, i didn't have to worry that i was alone; if we ever needed a break because it was getting too overstimulating, they allowed us to take a breather; if i had questions about my performance, they would sit one-on-one in detail with me as to where i could improve and what i was already doing well

however, i think micromanaging was a huge issue: because there are so many rules you have to follow (folding, cleaning, general procedures for each "station"), you were constantly being checked in on every 15-30 minutes or so, which at a certain point got really exhausting

not sure if this has something to do with uniqlo the brand, my particular store, or both, but there was an emphasis on perfection - if you weren't quickly processing mountains of clothes in fitting room after you had an entire wave of people come in, you were constantly reminded of that fact and told to "work more with a sense of urgency"...it lowkey gave sweatshop

others have mentioned that there are high expectations so you are expected to multitask (for example, customer servicing while tidying up a mess of clothes while pushing go backs)

physical toll:

i was scheduled 4-5 days a week, 9 hours total per shift (8 hours work, 1 hour unpaid lunch); i was practically on my feet standing or running for 32-36 hours, and at some point it felt like i was getting arthritis as an early 20 something (but you kinda get used to it after a while where it doesn't become a huge issue)

running go backs were a struggle because i am weak ... so carrying a bunch of clothes on my arms felt like i was playing a game to see who would fall down first - the clothes or me? you are expected to complete one bin (1 top compartment and 1 bottom compartment) in 15 minutes, so if you aren't a quick walker, good luck (i remember once when i ran three bins with clothes in my arms in around 35 minutes and was told to once again...work with a sense of urgency despite it feeling like i lost 10 pounds)

sitting was heavily discouraged in my store beyond breaks and lunches so if you do work here, please wear good shoes

hours:

as with any retail job, hours are a hot mess - during peak season, you don't have to worry about being scheduled (but there will be a problem if you request days off or can't open your availability)

similarly, during dry season, if you need hours (you probably won't be getting more than 1 or 2 half shifts a week)

coworkers:

THE BEST. the coworkers were pretty much the only reason why i kept this job for so long - i think the nature of the job forces you to become chums with the people around you! my store was busy the moment we opened until the moment we closed, so the teamwork was amazing, and everyone was extremely supportive (i.e. if one department needed help, as soon as you call for backup, you can guarantee you'll have like 3 people show up)

wrapup:

i currently work at abercrombie and fitch now and i can say without a doubt that it is 90% more laidback than uniqlo. i don't have to worry about constant micromanaging (since once the expectations are set, they trust that we know what we're doing), or stressing over whether i did something perfectly, (added bonus: my back, arms, and legs have been saved)

if you've had any similar experiences or if you're someone new that has any questions, please let me know!! definitely need a former uniqlo employee support group lol

Question about the cotton linen jacket

I have 2 cotton linen jackets, and I absolutely adore them; both have been with me through a lot of special occasions in my life. But after about a year and a half, both have become really soft, lighter and wrinkle easily; the bottom line is they always curl, no matter how many times I try to iron them. Any advice on how I can “renew” or “harden” these jackets again, to make them look sharp?

How to properly measure for online tailoring

I love that Uniqlo offers the online tailoring option and I usually prefer to just get it done in store, but I’m wondering how you properly measure for your inseam? Maybe this is a tailoring question but isn’t the inseam dependent on the rise of the pants and isn’t the rise of every style different. This is in regards the the barrel pants specifically so how do they account for the shape as it’s not a perfectly straight inseam? Any help appreciated!

How hard working at Uniqlo if you have a back problem?

Hi Uniqlo workers :)
An Uniqlo gonna open in my city in Germany and I’m considering job change. But I just had a surgery because of the herniated disc disorder. How hard is the work? For me actually keep moving, walking is good. Im wondering in the retails worker don’t keep standing or sitting. But I should not have heavy stuffs.

I have experienced working in the retails, what I didn’t like was I had to buy the working wear regularly myself even it’s discounted. By Uniqlo is the same?

I’d love to hear your experiences! Thank you :))

Is it possible to get in touch with a store to check inventory?

The only uniqlo is quite far from me. I hoped to call and check if they might be getting an upcoming product in store, and when. All numbers I can find re-route to corporate (after a time-wasting phone tree, of course). Corporate told me there's no way for me to directly call the store, but promised they'd call the store and then email me the information. This was yesterday and I still haven't received any email or call back as I was told. Is there any way for me to reach the store directly?

UNIQLO F1 to F2 Promotion Advice (UK)

Hi everyone!
I’m currently working as an F1 at UNIQLO UK. I started in August, so it’s been almost 2 months now.
I’d like to work towards becoming an F2, but I know I’m still new and have a lot to learn, so I’m not trying to rush myself.
One thing I’m curious about is that management hasn’t trained me on POS (till) yet. Instead, they sent me for alterations training and assigned me to the ALT team. Is it normal to be trained in alterations before POS? Does this mean management has different plans for me, and could not knowing POS affect my chances of becoming F2?
For anyone who’s F2 or above, or has worked at UNIQLO:
How long did it take you to get promoted from F1 to F2?
What should I focus on to improve my chances?
How does management decide who gets promoted? Is it mainly based on performance, or does favouritism sometimes play a part?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences.
Please only reply if you currently work or have worked at UNIQLO. If you don’t have relevant experience, please just skip this post. Sorry to bother anyone, and thank you!

Any idea if the BLOCKTECH Parka will be restocked in Canada?

Hey everyone!
I'm from Canada and have been looking to get the BLOCKTECH Parka, but unfortunately it's sold out everywhere.
I reached out to UNIQLO and was told that it's a seasonal fall jacket and is already gone for the season.
I was wondering if anyone here has any information on whether UNIQLO plans to restock it or bring it back anytime soon? Has anyone seen it return in previous years, or is it something that usually only gets released once a year?
I'd really appreciate any updates or insight. Thanks!

Ex-Uniqlo employee who resigned after 2 weeks due to illness: can I reapply, and is there a blacklist?

Hi everyone,

I used to work at Uniqlo at a newly opened store, but I had to resign after only about 2 weeks because I was sick and my body was too weak to keep up at the time. I'm better now, and I really want to go back. I use outsourcing by the way

I've messaged my store manager on both LinkedIn and email to ask whether there's a blacklist, or whether I could come back if there's an opening. I think the store may still need manpower since it's new, and I've heard a coworker plans to resign this October. So far I haven't received any reply.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? A few questions:

Does Uniqlo blacklist people who resign early, especially for health reasons?

Is it better to reapply through the official recruitment channel, or keep trying to reach the store manager directly or maybe reach my outsourcing?

How long should I wait before following up again?

Any advice or experience would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Uniqlo's Return Policy on Bras is Absurd—Boobs Aren’t Unsanitary

Acting like trying on a bra is unsanitary and not eligible for return is absurd. Especially when you can try bras on in-store—if anything your average person’s armpit is more unsanitary and/or stinky than breasts…. So by that logic, t-shirts shouldn’t be allowed to be returned. 🙄🙄🙄

I ordered one of the 3D bras in 32B/C... and it did not fit—The cup fit, but the band was too tight and it would have needed an extender to fit comfortably. So I submitted an exchange request (which was APPROVED) and got a 34 B/C in hopes that a slightly bigger band would fit.... well the band was fine but the cup did not fit at all and there was a big gap.

Today, I contacted customer service to request a return for my EXCHANGE bra that also failed to fit and I am now informed that my bra is not eligible for return. Well, why was my initial exchange request even accepted? So I just sent that bra back to not be refunded? I guess I am out $63.00 and only have one bra that is not wearable to show for it.

Like if its a sanitation issue, as if they are assuming every woman trying on a bra is breastfeeding .... Who is to say that women don't try shirts on without a bra. Like be real. Uniqlo is just finding ways to avoid accepting returns and doesn’t care about providing their customers with quality service and product.

I submitted a complaint and the results are back—too bad, no refund for you.

I’m honestly beyond disappointed with the terrible customer service . Their size charts have always sucked but I accepted having to deal with return shipping fees as collateral damage with this company because I love their supima cotton shirts and other 100% cotton clothing… but now I’m just screwed and stuck with a shitty bra that doesn’t fit. What a joke.

Price increase before Black Friday?

I bought these pants at full price less than a year ago, and now I want to buy them in a different color, but the price has gone up by 10€, which is a 20% increase. Is it common for Uniqlo to raise prices like this?

Uniqlo Quality Decline

The quality fall-off at Uniqlo is devastating.

I'm an old-head from the 2010s cdb+white/blue ocbd+dark wash jeans MFA uniform era; MFA made Uniqlo one of my favorite places to shop.

It used to be a solid place to get high quality basics at great prices. You could count on natural fibers, bright dyes, thicker fabrics, and some really cool styles in their specialty lines like Uniqlo U. However, Uniqlo is now a shell of its former self.

Most items are now made with synthetic fiber blends with a minimal natural fiber share:

* Basic sweaters and hoodies used to be 98-100% cotton, now 67% polyester
* JWW button-downs used to be 100% cotton, now 60% rayon
* Heattech 100% down-fill lightweight/packable puffy jackets discontinued, replaced with 100% synthetic "pufftech" jackets at the same price point. The only down-fill jacket Uniqlo sells is now a $180 parka.
* Wool knit sweaters have taken a huge hit. Less selection of 100% wool than ever before. Thinner fabrics than ever before. It used to be that you could get 100% wool in some really beautiful colors and designs, and that seems harder than ever. All the interesting designs--like 3D-knit sweaters or waffle-knit--are 70% acrylic/polyester

I think they're still doing pretty well in the pants department, but otherwise I get the sense that Uniqlo is coming across tough times and is aggressively cost-cutting. They're leaning into items they can sell at lower prices for higher margins and reducing variety and selection. It's a huge bummer because some of my all-time favorite pieces were from uniqlo. I think those days are gone.

Help me choose between two fleece jackets

I’m trying to decide between the Fleece Lined Stand Blouson and the Windproof Fleece Reversible Full-Zip Hoodie. I need it for this time of year, when temperatures are between 10 and 20°C, with frequent rain and wind. I’m worried the hoodie won’t keep me warm enough, but I prefer it because it has a hood. Any thoughts?

NEVER buy Uniqlo at full price

This has happened to me more than 5 times already: what I bought went on sale for 30–50% off after I bought it. And they don't accept price adjustments after the 14-day window, they won't even try to offer you any compensation.

There's a VERY HIGH CHANCE that what you're looking at is gonna go on sale after 2 weeks or more. It just makes me feel so upset about purchasing anything there. I've lost more than $100 already, and every time I pass by the store, it reminds me of how much I've lost. Just don't buy anything at full price.

gift card in euros

Hi! I recently purchased a UNIQLO gift card, but I just realized that I accidentally purchased it in euros (€) because I misunderstood the currency symbol and thought it was in Canadian dollars (CAD).

The gift card was intended for someone in Canada, and I genuinely didn't realize my mistake until after completing the purchase. I wanted to ask if there's any possibility of cancelling the order and receiving a refund, or exchanging it for a gift card in Canadian dollars instead? Do you guys think it's possible? Please help.
