TG-6 shots from Tulamben. Feedback welcome!

Hello everyone! These shots were taken in Tulamben with my TG6+strobe.

I did some editing in Lightroom but tried to keep the photos looking natural. I’d love to hear your feedback on what I could improve!

I’m also considering upgrading to the OM-1 in the next few years. If you’ve made the switch, would you recommend it again, or go full-frame instead? I’d also like to get into wide-angle photography in the future.

Thanks for any tips! 🙏🏼

Divevolk seatouch 4 max plus iphone 18 pro adapter?

I have a Divevolk SeaTouch 4 Max Plus and recently upgraded to an iPhone 18 Pro. I still have the adapter for my old iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 18 Pro seems to fit in it, but the dimensions of the 18 pro is slightly different, so I'd prefer to get the correct adapter to ensure a secure fit and proper sealing.

However, I can't seem to find an adapter specifically for the iPhone 18 Pro. Does anyone know where I can get one, or whether the iPhone 16 Pro adapter is safe to use with the 18 Pro?

First time bringing my housing underwater.

Definitely a big learning curve to learn filming underwater. I had to get used to all the buttons on the housing, but also work on my buoyancy and the drag caused by the housing when diving against current (reallly bad with negative entries).

But learned a lot and had lots of fun! Hope you enjoy

Sealife sportdiver help: Vacuum valve body came unscrewed. Has anyone experienced this?

Hey everyone!

I don’t know if this is the right sub to ask this question, but I’ll try.

I’m having an issue with my SeaLife SportDiver underwater housing, and I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or knows how to fix it.

Today, after finishing a dive, I tried to release the vacuum from the housing as usual. However, when I attempted to unscrew the vacuum valve cap, instead of just the cap coming off, the entire threaded valve body unscrewed from the housing.
Luckily, nothing appears to be broken. I managed to separate the cap from the valve body using pliers, and both the valve’s threads and the plastic threads inside the housing seem to be intact.
I also noticed what looked like some kind of silicone or sealant on the threads, so I’m wondering if SeaLife uses a specific thread sealant or adhesive to keep the valve body secured in place.

Here’s what I’ve tested so far:
I screwed the valve body back into the housing.
I cleaned and lubricated the O-rings with silicone grease.

I performed the standard vacuum test, and it passed.

I then submerged the housing completely in a sink for over 6 hours, with the vacuum applied, and no alarms were triggered. I’m also leaving it submerged overnight for further testing.

The housing appears to be watertight at surface pressure.

The main issue: If I tighten the valve body normally, it can unscrew again when I try to remove the vacuum cap. I can tighten it much harder, but I don’t want to damage the plastic threads or the O-ring.
I can also open and close the housing without touching the vacuum valve, so technically I could leave it tightened and avoid unscrewing the cap altogether.
However, I’m concerned about whether the valve will remain watertight at 20–30 meters (65–100 feet), since passing a vacuum test at the surface doesn’t necessarily guarantee a proper seal at depth.

My questions are:
Has anyone experienced the entire vacuum valve body coming unscrewed on a SeaLife SportDiver? And if yes, how did you resolved it?

Is there an official repair procedure for this, or does the whole valve assembly need to be replaced?

I’m trying to figure out how to properly secure the valve without damaging the housing or compromising its waterproofing.
I’ll attach a picture showing the threaded valve body and its mounting point.
Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Question/Advice on Dome Port Care/Preparation

Thumbnail

Hey y'all - somewhat beginner here learning how to prepare and care for my housing + acrylic port! I am running into this issue a bunch and I am not exactly sure how to solve it. My port seems to be dust-free and scratch-free, but every time I take it into the water and direct sunlight hits it - it lights up with (scratch?) artifacts everywhere. Is this an f-stop issue? Is this a cleaning issue or a scratch issue? It doesn't seem to be dust to me because its a white blotch instead of a dark one (like I'd expect dust to be) and is very sunlight shine on it in specific way dependent. I rubbed the acrylic cleaning on according to online tutorials but seems to not have worked. Perhaps I was not aggressive enough.

I have an image that is just simple - shooting away from the sun, and one that is when its shooting more into the sun from the same clip (the majority of the issue are those white splotches on the left side). I know that it is an issue with the port itself as it is static on the image and kind of "flickers" whenever the sun hits it.

Any help from you veterans would be appreciated!!

I guess it it matters - SeaFrogs Housing, FX30, 16-35mm GM

Rent or buy housing body and lens

My partner and I have the finances and interest in investing in a quality underwater camera setup for our upcoming trip (swimming with orcas if you’re curious). The question is, do I rent a Sony A7 IV, 16-35 gm lens, and ikelite housing (all products we think would be a good purchase) for $1000 for our 11 day trip (including insurance)? This would let us get a feel for these products and make sure it’s what we like before going all in. We already have a Sony a6500 so we know we like the Sony space.

Or just go for it and buy those items outright (shopping off eBay/marketplace so 6-8k all in)?

Thanks in advance for your input.

What are your thoughts on AI photo enhancement?

Going through images I photographed with a simple GoPro over the last few years without any lights setup. With just a simple prompt on ChatGPT, I can achieve what I cannot get no matter how hard I try with adobe lightroom.
It’s AI, but also the scene I captured.
For some weird reason, it feels like cheating 😬.

How do I fix these photos?

So yeah i messed up pretty bad with these. I couldn't get too close to these moray eels and forgot to change my settings (I'm used to taking macro photos).

Anyways, how... do I fix these? I shot them in raw (these are just screenshots) and i just can't get the colors and lighting right.

I'm used to doing color correction on brighter images and those turn out fine. With these I always end up with aggressive reds, blue shadows, random white spots and just a general strange tint. What do I do?

Title: Learning to Identify Different Fish

At my usual dive site, there are fish I see all the time, but there are also some that make me think, “Wait, do I actually see those very often?” 😅

When I put these three photos together, I noticed they’re red, blue, and yellow — almost like a traffic light! 🚦 It’s a pretty colorful combination.

First up is the blacktip grouper (Akahata in Japanese). I see these fairly often at this dive site. They’re relatively large and have a smooth-looking body, so they seem to catch the attention of other divers too. I’ve heard people ask, “What kind of fish is that?” when they spot one.

Next is the bluespotted cornetfish (Aoyagara in Japanese).

Back when I was still afraid of clearing my mask and would swim around with it fogged up, I probably wouldn’t have been able to spot one of these! 😅 They have really long, slender bodies and look almost like spears.

And finally, the threadfin butterflyfish (Togechoucho-uo in Japanese). It looks similar to the butterflyfish I usually see, but there are some subtle differences. Learning to recognize those little details is something I’m working on right now.

I’m still far from being an experienced diver, but compared to when I first started, I feel like I’m gradually getting better at recognizing fish. Sometimes I can look at one and instinctively think, “Is that a member of this particular group?”

Maybe “instinctively” is a better way to describe .

Anyway, I hope to get back in the water again soon. Diving really is fun!

One more question: What do you all use for photo editing? I honestly know very little about editing software, so I have no idea which tools are worth trying. I’d really appreciate any recommendations! 😅

Looking for advice on macro lens!

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to get a macro lens for my Insta360 Ace Pro 2, mainly to photograph/film nudibranchs. I'm currently debating between the INON UCL-165 M67 (+6D) or the DIVEVOLK Macro Lens +8 (+8D). I already have the Diveveryday adapter for M67 lenses, so ideally I'd like to stick with that setup.

Has anyone used either of these lenses, particularly with an action camera? I'd love to hear your experiences!

Thank you!!

Hey everyone!

I recently got back from an amazing trip to Mozambique and put together a short video featuring some incredible marine life and wildlife from Kruger National Park.

All underwater footage was shot on my DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. I'm not a professional videographer, but I work as a graphic designer and I'm slowly getting into underwater videography, editing, and color grading.

I'd love to hear your honest thoughts! Any feedback or tips on how to improve would be greatly appreciated.
