This is the ideal way to draw Beato, refined but still looks like she's unhinged enough to bite Battler without reason or warning.

I'm on episode 2 of the Higurashi VN and everything kind of clicks into place and it becomes obvious that Umineko is Ryukishi's 2nd series.

They're both great, but Higurashi's experience once you get halfway into the episode is just pure dread with no break from the mystery, despite each episode being less than half the length it's still heavier to read because you don't have someone like Beato or Erika to be the lovable villain; they break up the reader's tension without harming the narrative's greater scope. I do think these long sections of isolation and paranoia work for Higurashi though.

I should start by saying that, depending on if I get any comments at all, there MAY be spoilers ahead for those who haven’t finished the whole story.

That said, why is the anime considered bad? And before you start typing “it’s a bad adaptation. The Umineko anime doesn’t exist. Read the VN/Manga etc.” stop; I’m tired of seeing these repeated cold takes. I want actual answers as to why it’s considered a bad adaptation. Personally, I think the anime does a FAIR job at getting the main plot across, and I won’t shame it for trying its best to condense everything within such a short amount of time. I am also here to (hopefully lol) shut down some of the misconceptions about the alleged plot holes it has. I found it to be quite an enjoyable watch, even if it had to cut corners to get its information across. That said, I also personally don’t think it cut that much ESSENTIAL info. The only argument I can get behind is it forgetting to put a few things in red, but I’m pretty sure these are things that could’ve been addressed in the second season, if it had gotten it. If anything, that’s what I thought they had planned to do; purposely setting things up to then be explained in said second season. The other argument I could get behind as well is it rushing Episode 4 a bit too much..but again, it got its central theme across fairly well IMO. So, truly, why is it seen as such a terrible adaptation?

Discussion at least Rosa was smart enough to know her daughter had a neurodiversity

lmaoo so many parents just are in denial and reject their children feelings saying that they are lazy and annoying and were just too spoiled and that if they are so nice and should have treated us the hard way to toughen us up.

Idk what is worse, because society and people in general would treat Maria terribly anyway and mentally abuse her.

Rosa was such a bad parent and acted terribly towards Maria but at least she knew, she didn't just brush it off by saying that "she's a little girl, she has a lot of imagination that's all".
