Discussion My little rural courtyard on the outskirts of Chongqing, in western China

This is a real little rural courtyard on the outskirts of Chongqing, my hometown, out in western China. My parents still live there, and we go back to visit once in a while. in most rural areas, it’s mostly just some elderly people still living there. Young people have moved to the city or gone off to work in the city. The greenery and environment are really nice, and life is pretty laid-back, welcome to visit if you are really interested in the real rural life of western China.

Other Traveling with a drone help

I'm going to China in about 3 weeks and will be flying into Beijing but then traveling around the country and leaving from Shanghai. The problem is that I have a drone that I am traveling with. I'm aware of the drone ban in Beijing and it's not leaving me with a lot of options. So far here are my options (and their problems):

- declare it at customs, have them help me ship it to a city outside of Beijing (BUT this is not guaranteed and a bit of a risk)

- ship the drone from my current location to a city outside of Beijing (unsure if I can ship it with the batteries and if it will clear Chinese customs)

- Ship the drone body to a city outside of Beijing, but carry the batteries (it is unclear whether I can even enter Beijing with the drone batteries)

- Ship the drone to my next country, Philippines (Again, unsure if can ship it with batteries or if customs will accept it but I also don't have an accommodation book there yet)

If anyone has any advice or has dealt with this please help... also I will note I'm a full time traveler so I can't really leave it where I am and I can't send it home either.

Hi everyone :)

I am currently in Beijing and wanted to get a new tattoo here!

Does anyone recommend a tattoo artist that speaks English and is in the central area (or inside the second ring) of Beijing?

Thanks a lot!

Itinerary

Itinerary Would Guangzhou or Quingdao better for a small tattoo?

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I am visiting China and these are the two major cities I will be spending time in. I hope to get a small chrysanthemum tattoo (2-3”) similar to the red chrysanthemum on the left. I grow chrysanthemums professionally and have focused on the heirloom style in recent years so I thought it would be fun to get one somewhere this growing style was popularized.

I don’t speak the local language so Guangzhou seems like it may have more English speakers? However Quingdao is close to Korea and the majority of my current tattoos are done by a South Korean artist in the states and in the “Korean fine line” style. I’ve gotten a couple other tattoos in foreign countries where I don’t speak the language and the experience was always super positive. However I’d love some advice in making this choice.

Thanks!

Itinerary

Discussion Beijing airport transfers

Will be arriving in Beijing next month and wondering what the best way to get from the airport to our hotel would be? We will have 2x large suitcases and 2x carry on luggage cases. Would we be able to just book a Didi and if so would anyone mind sharing what that process is like? (Unsure if it’s the same as ordering an uber here).

Other Xinjiang Information

I'm looking for a local guide to work with in Aksu, Xinjiang in the next few months.

I'm a photographer and looking to travel and photograph around the Stone Forest area, as well as many other spots around Aksu and west, along the way to Kashgar. Also south, into the sand dunes as well.

Most of my photography revolves around places that aren't photographed yet, and I'm wondering if it's possible to off road drive or hike several kilometers to get to some viewpoints in the mountains.

I'm also planning to use drones, which I'm aware are closely monitored in the region. I'm hoping to get some information on bringing this into china and any protocol for operating a drone.

This could potentially lead to me bringing more people over the following year.

Other bring disposable vape from syd to china

im travelling from sydney to china and i want to bring my disposable.
these are the china import laws: Up to 2 vape units, 6 vape pods (including disposables), and 12ml or less of total liquid.
all of my disposables exceed the 12ml limit (18ml), if im bringing just the one, will it be confiscated?

(im travelling with someone who i would rather not know i have a vape, will they pull it out and whatnot?)

- and also it is fruity flavoured but it should be fine since i am not purchasing it in china right?)
