Hey all, think it's a matter of time before NHS stops doing hormone treatments and surgeries

Considering the hospital Ward ban and well that they made life of a trans person unsafe and unlivable I fully expect another hit job saying they can't give us hormonal treatments or surgeries because of reasons of their own doing.
This is the review on question

There is always Private health care available and diy so best get prepared as it might be hitting sooner than later.

Possible trigger Donating blood?

Please delete if not allowed.

CW for needles, medical questions, etc.

So I've been DIYing a while. I've been seen by gender services but injections were just a lot more convenient for me than gel or patches due to very sensitive skin (I'm in my 30s now so no pills for me) along with some other reasons.

I've never been able to give blood before due to piercings, tattoos, sexual practices and then due to being on PrEP.

I realised today that its been over 3 months since I last took prep and a year since I've slept with anybody so I thought I'd see if I was able to donate blood now, however under "Who Can't donate" it lists injection of non prescription drugs.

I'm curious if anybody who has navigated the blood donating process as a trans woman can give me any context? Is this is a lifetime unilateral prohibition, or if its something that can be acceptible after X time not using injectables with consistent negative STI screenings, etc. I understand the risk profile this represents, but Im curious on the specifics.

I've never been keen on the idea of giving blood cus im a little squeamish but know its quite important to do so I wanted to at least give it a go if I could. I'm now wondering if I have permenantly ruled out the possibility of doing this by DIYing injections.

If I now cannot give blood ever again this might be something folks who care about trying to give blood wanna take note of when deciding what to do with reguards to DIY. Idk if I'd have made a different choice if I'd known itd prohibit me from ever giving blood, end of day injections are the best solution for me, but it definetely gives me a smidge of regret if I can never donate blood.

Thank you all xx

Vent I realise that my constant feelings of guilt around my transness, is just me experiencing gender euphoria.

That is all. I'm allowed to experience gender euphoria even though I'm trans. I'm allowed to smile and laugh and not feel like utter shit.

Question Question from sister in Poland (legal)

I thought that you in UK had a GRC which was like our amending of birth certificate through a court case. Even though in full info is viewable in full birth certificate including changes over time( blergh yuck) shorten cbirth certificate has all into correct and amended.

So if you in UK have GRC what does that even change for you if (from what I can tell) all of GRC is voided due to supreme court ruling, EHRC guidelines alle the following guidelines and Equality Act? Can please someone explain to me whether it does anything anymore, and what exactly?

Should I postpone my appointment?

I have an appointment with Dr Dundas in a few weeks for gender dysphoria diagnosis. But I don't know if I should cancel it.

I've been thinking about transition from age 17 to now age 21. But I don't know if i'll get diagnosed, I don't really experience dysphoria, if I do it's more of a neutrlity towards my body, and I don't know if I want to medically transition either, I think I might like the changes from HRT, but don't feel confident enough to not be afraid to start.

I don't know if i will or want to get diagnosed, I'm making rough hypothetical timeline for when to do things like name changes telling my boss etc, and I chose a new name for the appointment (though I was considering a few beforehand). all to try and get the diagnosis. But I don't know if I will get one based on my lack of dysphoria or strong desire to start HRT alongside my lack of social transition.

The two best possible paths I see, are either I am trans and am diagnosed or that I am not trans and cancel my appointment early and get a refund. But cancelling will just mean I'm waiting for even longer, not knowing what to do.

I don't know what to do, I feel like it is unlikely that I am not trans, my trans friend is almost certain that I am, but why am I not more certain, I feel like I'll need to be confident for a diagnosis and I'll need to persuade a doctor that I am trans and I'm certain of it. But I haven't been able to feel certain over 4 years, I know I'm unhappy I just don't know if transition will make me happier.

Do you think it's likely I'll get diagnosed? Should I cancel it until I feel more certain? Should I exaggerate how I feel to try and force a diagnosis?, I don't know if it's worth just trying to get onto oestrogen to see how I feel, but from what my friend said she didn't feel that different to start with.

Vent What else are we going to be banned from

With all these bans and all these politicians and rich transphobes coming to basically remove all our rights and freedoms what’s next I am so deeply concerned as to what will happen next all in the fake disguise of protecting women and children despite trans being one of the least unfriendly people how many rights do we have to loose im genuinely feeling like de transitioning cause at this point what’s the actual point in being trans if we can’t even do anything without being told ur no longer allowed to even use the bathroom or play sports or even have medical treatment I know me ranting or if we take part in protests do anything. I’m sorry if this is all to much I’m so tired and angry that this country has gone we are now in a new section 28 and sadly it’s fully focused on trans people and even gays and lesbians are now against us how the hell do we win šŸ˜”

Question Being a non-binary mum to a teenage daughter

My daughter said to me tonight that she doesn't have a parent she can talk about girls stuff with because I am non-binary. I am on T and E because I decided I needed medical support with hormones after having total hysterectomy surgery for endometriosis and adenomyosis. I was on E prescribed by GP for a bit but gender dysphoria got pretty bad and the gender clinic saw me and prescribed me T instead. Was on just that for a while with some physical changes but surgical menopause was harsh and I didn't want to go on high dose T so I opted to take both T and E. I'm settled as I am now and happy with my non-binariness.

I'm just not sure how to respond to my daughter as I remember my own mum being not very feminine and we didn't talk about feminine stuff for various reasons, which was kinda ok but also made me feel alone. My daughter seemed sad and said she wished she had someone to talk to about hair and makeup. I said she could talk to me as I've been through different phases in my life where I have been more feminine at times. She actually does talk to me a bit about hair but she's also autistic (I'm AuDHD too) and prefers not to go to the hairdresser or anything, so has asked me to dye her hair a number of times and has done it herself too.

Writing this has actually helped me realise we do talk about a lot of things, though she says she wishes she had someone feminine to talk to, which makes me feel inadequate. I helped her access period products, buying her period pants and talking the other options through with her. I do feel like I'm letting her down by not being cis, but there is literally nothing I can do about that and that's what I've said to her. Are there other trans or non-binary parents that have been through similar stuff with their kids? How do you feel ok with it?

Mental Health nonbinary therapy?

hello friends šŸ¤ i’m looking at maybe switching therapists and would love any advice/suggestions. i’m american, and have lived here for almost 4 years, but a lot of things are still hazy to me in terms of protocol and where to go for help.

i see my current therapist privately, and have for about a year and a half. she’s lovely and very well-intentioned, but just not super trans informed. i came out as nonbinary last year and as my dysphoria gets worse it feels like she’s not super able to help. the dysphoria is pretty nebulous and leaves me feeling very uncertain of how to make it better, since binary options don’t always feel quite right to me.

does anyone know of someone/somewhere that might be a good starting place? for context i’m in the greater manchester area but could do online obviously from anywhere.

thank you all xx

Do I need to prepare anything before asking GP for shared care?

I have booked a diagnosis with Gendercare who told me to ask my GP if they would be willing to offer shared care, I would also like to get gamete storage, which I don't know whether or not is possible on the NHS but I thought I should ask anyway.

Do I just call and ask to book an appointment to discuss shared care? Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of getting it, or is it something that is just whether or not my GP feels like it? If so is there any way I can persuade them or is it decided before I get in the room?

Is it a risk to ask now before getting a diagnosis like gendercare asked, will I be taken less seriously? And is there a chance I'll be able to discuss it over the phone?

Sorry for the large number of questions and I assume a lot are GP dependent, but any help would be great

Trigger - Transphobia Anti-trans ā€œGenspectā€ ideologue campaigning for trans people to be ā€œeradicatedā€

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Her post:
ā€œClosing down gender clinics isn’t enough to end this scandal. The whole idea that trans is a type of person must be eradicated. As long as society pretends it’s normal to want healthy body parts chopped off, vulnerable people will continue to be harmed.ā€

These are the people working alongside ā€œLGB Allianceā€ and EHRC TERFs working hard to exterminate trans people from public life. Her name is Mia Hughes and she’s with Genspect, an anti-trans organisation pushing propaganda and bigotry. This person has been popping up more often in mainstream mediaā€gender criticalā€ debates and has been shared by other anti-trans ideologues.
I’m sharing this because this is what UK trans people are up against (sure many of you already know), faux ā€œpro LGBā€ and ā€œChristianā€ groups, as well as the EHRC, are infiltrated by people like this.

Possible trigger The principles of the anti-trans NHS guidance have already killed someone

Something already obvious to everyone here is that the new NHS guidance on how to segregate trans people will both discourage any of us from getting treatment we need or stop us from being able to have a safe place available to us if we do end up in hospital but something I haven't seen posted here is that before this guidance the NHS already killed a trans person by refusing to treat her. I mentioned it on here before but after this news I took the time to find the actual source because I last saw it a year ago.

This was revealed last year during a parliamentary debate

They left her untreated for over a week because they couldn't decide where to put her. There is no excuse for this woman to not still be alive and yet the only thing to come from it is that the NHS and Labour party have seen it as a blueprint for how all of us should be treat. This was before the NHS has made situations like this more likely. They would have known about this when they chose to update the guidance and decided that it was either fine that it would happen or something they considered a positive.

When this inevitable happens again, either from someone not going to hospital or from them not being placed on a ward the defence from them while they sweep it under the rug will be that they didn't know that could happen, but they are fully aware, our lives just don't matter to them.

Recognition for ā€˜defending evidence-based science’ mayĀ help others ā€˜challenge unsupported scientific claims’, says neuropsychologist

Thought this was worth sharing, and I’m sure the MumsNet lunatics will be jumping for joy…

Essentially it looks like her research indicates a drop in IQ whilst puberty blockers are in use, but having not read any of the evidence I’ve no idea how sound this is. For example, did IQ improve once trans people went on to use GAHT, or stopped taking puberty blockers? How long did the study track IQ for? Is there any other possible explanation like social stigma, bullying etc causing trans kids to participate less in school/class?

Sharing more for awareness than anything tbh.

Trigger - Transphobia In yet another development in the continuing British War On Trans, the NHS in England has issued guidelines that severely restrict accommodation and spaces for trans patients and trans members of staff #BWOT

(I'm sure you're as fed up of reading the #BWOT series as I am of writing them, but the only thing I can realistically do as the UK eliminates the concept of trans - and hence the existence of trans people - is to write it all down. This is the latest)

In yet another development in the continuing British War On Trans (#BWOT), the NHS in England has issued guidelines that severely restrict accommodation and spaces for trans patients and trans members of staff. Because British cruelty must always be accompanied by hypocrisy, this is characterised as "privacy, dignity and safety".

The links are below. If you know of others or see any mistakes, please tell me in the comments below. I'll update as things go.

My name is updated EVERYWHERE except for the bank and my birth certificate. I have a CitizenCard in my name, benefits are in my name, I go to college with my name, everything. I cannot see how it is "accurate" to keep my deadname whatsoever.

I have been waiting for my provisional licence for almost 6 months. My plan was to switch banks when that arrived but... 🫠

Awaiting a response from the ICO...
