What are you hoping for the route?
What lessons are you most hoping they've learned and taken from Zwolle - Groningen?
What are some pitfalls that DTG should watch out for?
Big wishes, small wishes, everything.
What do you think of the route in the first place?
I'll share a list of my own thoughts first, at length
To be clear, there's been a lot of remarks regarding Den Haag HS, but unfortunately, during the stream, Matt did say in chat that currently Den Haag HS (station right south of Den Haag CS, which is the main Den Haag station servicing this route) is not planned to be part of the route. So we can put that to rest.
I think it's a bit of a mistake, if just because it's already within literal viewing distance, so you're going to need to model it anyways, might as well properly incorporate it, especially considering it's officially a main station, together with Den Haag CS, as well as one with historical significance. So not including it is, I think, a mistake that makes the route feel incomplete when it adds literally only 1km and 1 station extra to the line.
Of course the counterargument is probably that all traffic including IC's that stop at Den Haag HS will also stop at Den Haag Laan van NOI anyways one stop short, but for realism's sake, any driver change that would take place would happen at an official main station, meaning Den Haag HS and *NOT* at Laan van NOI. So really, it would just complete the route from an operational perspective too.
I know there's constraints, and they have to make choices, but I do hope someone at DTG sees this, because I do think this is a rather important detail to which the bit of extra work would truly make the route feel a noticeably more complete.
I get it if this isn't there on initial release, but it would still be good if this is just something that gets worked on to include still later, because I do think it's *that* important of a station to include.
One thing I couldn't help but notice from the roadmap was the picture of the NEMO Science Museum in Amsterdam. (4th picture from the bottom, or 2nd picture below the previews of the NS VIRM)
While, it's understandable that this building gets modeled, as it's mostly within view of Amsterdam CS, showing it off adds some questions for me, mostly regarding emplacements.
The Science Museum is on the east side of Amsterdam Station, and while it makes perfect sense to extend the represented area right against the edge of the railbridge on the east of Amsterdam CS, so that the minor holding tracks there are still usable, the photo is clearly taken from the other side of the bridge.
This makes me wonder, where does the playable area end? Because I see no reason to go across this bridge, unless you're also including the Watergraafsmeer emplacement for goods and passenger storage. Though this is also a bit unlikely as there's plenty of space already at the Zaanstraat emplacement at Amsterdam and Binckhorst emplacement at Den Haag.
One of the things that has bothered me and some others as well tremendously at Zwolle - Groningen is how the only spawn/fast travel points on the map are the stations itself.
No emplacements such as De Vork and Onnen, neither passenger nor freight, were marked, and so in a way, felt very much inaccessible if you weren't planning to spawn in there through a timetable service.
For spawn points on foot, it's better to have too many than too little, and Zwolle - Groningen *definitely* had far too little. So I really hope that's a lesson they'll take with them here.
Conductor mode is a bit of a hit or miss. I personally love that it's there, but I'll also say, while the door closing mechanisms on the SNG and ICM are mostly well implemented, actually playing conductor mode isn't. In fact I'd go as far as to say that of all the routes that have conductor mode, Zwolle - Groningen is the route on which it's by far the most botched, because conductor mode services are literally often not completable.
So PLEASE test out conductor mode on this route so that it actually works, and so that even if there's the occasional bug (still shouldn't be there) at least you can actually *COMPLETE* a conductor mode service.
Tying in a little to my point on the NEMO Science Museum, I think on Zwolle - Groningen, the playable area on the side of Zwolle ended far too quickly, ending almost at the station grounds still. Even when there's an emplacement right at Zwolle's southwestern side that could've been perfectly usable and given some nice additional shunting services, and freight options.
But even without adding that emplacement itself, not keeping some of the shunting tracks leading up to it within the playable area made it a bit harder to actually navigate Zwolle with manual free roam, as you couldn't use some of the most accessible shunting tracks.
I hope that the lesson here is that they really don't cut off the stations right as you leave it. In the case of Amsterdam, I still want that additional 500m to those holding tracks on its east side. And I do hope they won't cut out the Brinckhorst emplacement right across Den Haag CS.
I personally really hope the NS VIRM's will still have the old frontlights and not those new LED's we've started seeing since 2025.
While initially the difference may seem small, the slightly different placement of the reds, because the lights can now switch color themselves and so the inner ones (the place where the reds used to be) are now disabled. This small change actually gives a slightly different profile to the train, particularly in the dark, where the places of the reds have now changed.
I really hope the old ones are used. Though, with the confirmation that it's going to be specifically the VIRM-IV, I've not seen any of those yet with the new lighting, so there's still hope there.
Though I do suspect the newer liveries will still be used.
VIRM-IV's seem to still use a slightly modified version of the classic livery, even with the blue stripe going over the top instead of bottom. But the gray on the new liveries still goes right under the cab window instead of following the curve of the train below the center frontlight.
It's a small detail, but I do think a lot of appreciation would be had for the slightly older livery. But this is probably unrealistic to ask.
Personally I love getting the NS VIRM, though personally I'd have wished we'd have gotten a 6 car variant. Or perhaps even that because they're going to include the SNG for this route too, they would've gone and done the 4 car variant SNG for this route at least. But it's still good.
I'm imagining there's a lot of under-the-hood differences between the VIRM-IV (which exclusively has 4 car variants) and any of the VIRM types that have 6 car variants, so it's probably not as easy to do both as it was for the BR331 to do both the 3 and 4 car variants. Though for the SNG, also CAF-made, I do think they probably kinda should. But alright.
So, something I'd personally really like is if they took into account the exact locations of the spawn points better, and instead of spawning right at the platform in a somewhat random place on the station, they took some effort in finding out where the staff area is, and to then make the spawn points consistently either the most obvious passenger entrance, or right outside the staff area, so you can make your way from there and so that spawning there actually feels natural for roleplaying reasons. Even if that means spawning on foot means you spawn in the waiting area and not on the platform.
It's a very small thing, but I actually think it would be great for immersion to do this, and I do think it's important to reiterate that TSW, more than anything, is a train roleplaying game. So exact spawn location is just one of those small ways that actually make a somewhat big impact when it comes to roleplay and immersion.
I'd also actually kinda hope they'd make stations a bit more walkable, so you can stand right outside of the station at least still. The way JustTrains makes them. But it might be best to manage expectations there too. But to be able to stand right ouside of Amsterdam CS on the very impressive frontside, or to stand on the riverside looking over the water, literally just 10 meters or so outside of the northside of the station, would be great. But that's probably too much to ask. Though this too really would add tot the immersion of the roleplay, which is where TSW's strong suit lies.
Anyways. Those are my thoughts for now. Would hope to see yours :)
Hopefully some of the parts, particularly on Den Haag HS do reach the developers' ears. But we'll see.

I'm downloading the free update to TSW7 right now. Steam says it is 220 GB to dl. Sounds like a lot, so I'm guessing it's including all my DLC's, right?
I'm mostly looking forward to the live weather function. It's that included for all routes or only for new 7- routes?
Photo from yesterday's ride in Scotland. I really like the Fife circle.
One more thing, what's your favorite fall season route? I like all nice colors right now.

(Edit: I found the answer as to why but I'll leave my question up for others who don't know and are getting the same issues. It's another buggy release, who'd of guessed. AWS and DSD is broken until they make a patch for it)
I got everything turned on and unisolated but my train doesn't give any other audible alerts apart from DVD. Which also for some reason keeps turning off by itself on the user interface in the cab screen. I see the sunflower turning on and off but I keep getting random break demands and emergency breaks applied for seemingly no reason. I keep checking the fuse boxes and procedures but idk AWS seems to be broken

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Seems like the game decided I should have stopped at the Ne5 board despite no stop being scheduled. Did I mess up because the one I crossed at 0:22 was a turned off Fahrtanzeiger (or smth) and I couldn't proceed past the Ne5 - even if I wasn't stopping at the station?
FWIW, the distant signal before the tunnel showed Vr2.

Hey everyone!
I've been working on a personal project for Train Sim World called TSW Driving Companion, mainly designed for players on PS5 and Xbox.
The idea started because, on consoles, you can't easily see the full details of a timetable service before starting it. Things like the complete stopping pattern, arrival and departure times, journey duration and which train is assigned to a service aren't always easy to find in the menu before starting a route.
Another big reason is that, as console players, we don't have access to many of the amazing PC mods and companion tools, especially those that rely on game telemetry or API integrations.
I wanted something that could actually help me while driving, not just something to browse before starting a service. A second screen that keeps track of my journey, shows me what's coming up and provides useful information without constantly having to navigate through the game's menus.
So I decided to build my own companion tool!
The tool is completly dutch, but for this post I edited the tool and made a English version.
(you can read more under the video) It's a bit overexposed by recording from my computer screen
https://reddit.com/link/1x6ikua/video/k8a37npa1mvh1/player
How does it work?
The tool uses extracted timetable data from TSW mods. It's important to mention that it's not connected to the game and doesn't use live telemetry. Instead, it follows the selected service using timetable information and manually controlled journey progression.
It's a browser-based companion app that you can open on your tablet or phone and place right next to your TV or monitor while playing.
You can navigate through the interface, explore your service, check station details and use the different driving features throughout your journey. It's designed to be a practical driving assistant rather than just an information website.
Before you start a service you can enter the service code and the tool opens up the correct service with all the data provided (this is not showed in the video). Besided that i have a database where I can see all the services and decide wich one I want to play, or just look how many stops it has and what train I can drive it with.
What does the tool offer while driving?
The interface changes depending on where you are in your journey, keeping the most relevant information visible without becoming too distracting.
Which routes are working?
I've already spent quite a lot of time testing the tool, particularly on my UK routes.
It's working really well on:
I am also working on other routes in my collection: S-Bahn S1/S8/S9, Bremen–Oldenburg, Dresden–Riesa, Cologne–Aachen, Niddertalbahn, and Maintalbahn. In total the timetables are working on 32 routes.
Database managment system
In addition to the driving companion, I have a comprehensive database management tool that allows me to enter, edit, and verify timetables. The management tool can also check all images, audio, and data for errors. This gives me control over all the data, allowing me to modify it whenever I wish.
Announcements and immersion
One feature I'm particularly happy with is the announcement system.
For certain routes, I've integrated audio from community projects, including resources from Train Sim Community. Full credit goes to the original mod creators, and I won't redistribute anyone's audio without their permission. The audio provided in the menu is downloaded from the internet.
Combined with the station information, journey progression, arrival and departure countdowns and door prompts, it genuinely adds a lot of immersion while driving.
I've been using and testing the tool alongside my PS5, and it's becoming something I actually enjoy having next to me during a service. It's not just about adding information; it's about making the driving experience more enjoyable and giving console players some of the additional assistance that PC players can get through mods.
Of course, there are limitations.
Because there's no live connection to TSW, the tool can't automatically detect your exact position or what you're doing in the cab. But that's exactly the challenge I've been working around: making the experience as useful and natural as possible using timetable data, scheduled timings and simple manual controls.
It's still a work in progress, but the core Driving Tool is already working reliably on the routes I've tested, with more improvements and route support planned.
This started as a small personal project, but it's grown into something I'm genuinely enjoying developing.
I've attached some screenshots and a screen recording to show how it looks in action.
Just wanted to share what I've been working on with the TSW community.
I'd love to hear what other console players think about the idea!

Got a question was looking at the class 70 and it looks very nice but I don’t be driving freight trains or do any freight services in the game and was just wondering if it was worth the price to just add it in ass a layer for my Trent valley dlc ?

I was and still am a huge fan of train simulator, due to its variety, modding ability, and especially it's steam trains selections. So many good options for steam from the Big Boy, to european steam, to little niche steamers. But I've avoided TSW ever since version 3, because what I see is a glaring lack of steam.
I don't accept the dev response that their "engine" isn't capable. And I suspect what's not capable is the talent behind the sim, or perhaps the lack of desire to spend tons of hours in creating a valid steamer, to only sell it at the standard price of any other diesel or electric.
So I think it's more about greed and ease of making money. If the folks behind TSW are really train enthusiasts, then they'd be putting the effort into putting steamers on the track. We have enough of yet another diesel, or electric.

I know that DTG has a compilation of manuals here, but this isn’t all of them.
For example, the Liberec - Stara Paka and Medway Valley Line guides aren’t listed on the website, yet are on their respective Steam listings.
Is there a list of ALL the TSW guides? If not, I may compile a list best I can with the available material, as I know not all routes have manuals sadly (should be a requirement imo.)
