I got my pathology report back and I just had my appointment with my ENT surgeon.
The cancer was on both sides of my thyroid. We had initially thought it was only on the left side.
The cancer was encapsulated within the thyroid.
He removed six lymph nodes and none of them had cancer.
He told me that they will probably recommend radioactive iodine.
This wasn't the news I wanted because I have a 3-year-old and we want to try to have another baby soon. I'm pretty upset about the possibility of needing radioactive iodine. I thought I would be safe from needing it because it was encapsulated within the thyroid and had not moved to any lymph nodes. I have an appointment with my endocrinologist on November 10th and he will be able to give me more info than. What do you guys do when you have young children and you have to have radioactive iodine? I'm a 34 -year-old female and I'm worried this is going to mess up my fertility as well. I'm trying to look at the positives but I'm still really sad.

I just had my surgery yesterday, the doctor said they removed half of my thyroid and lymph nodes didn’t seemed suspicious i had another nodule on my other lobe but the doctor said since it was too small but embedded inside the thyroid so he didn’t wanted to remove it. Now i have ten days to wait for pathology results and after that we will keep monitoring the other nodule to see if i’ll need another treatment or surgery.I feel like my main mission is to stay stress free.I had terrible anxiety for my work my family and even for simple things, but when i got the diagnosis literally nothing mattered so i don’t know if i am cancer free yet but i am sure stress free.
First 10 hour after surgery i think it is the worst the nausea from anesthesia the constant requirement to keep the head straight position and pain in the neck and throat on top of that i had my period! But the painkillers did double work it was like two birds with one stone. Knowing all these hard times are temporary and keep reminding this to myself helped me a lot. So if anyone reading this and feeling at lost, just know it is all temporary, good things and bad things they will come and they will go so just try to enjoy even the simplest and smallest moments of your life. 💛

Has anyone had luck getting life insurance after thyroid cancer? I'm a 43 year old guy with 4 kids under 6 years old, and I'm getting life insurance quotes of $3500+ per year for term life. Fortunately, I have group life through my work, but it isn't as much as I would like in terms of coverage.

Basically just the title. I’ve been having mystery symptoms for a while now (mostly extreme fatigue) and had to follow up with my PCP on Tuesday because I went to the ER (migraine with aura, hopefully from stress and not cancer lol). I told her how it felt like I was constantly waiting for the next health issue to come up and wondering why every test result was coming back normal, to which she told me to “only worry about things I can control like diet and exercise and mindfulness”. I said ok sure but I’m wondering if all these things could be connected and she said no your labs are normal. Two days later I’m back in the office and she’s telling me my biopsy results show cancer. I’m just pissed off and shocked I guess, but also vindicated because nobody believed me when I said something was wrong. Idk just wanted to rant and accept any support you all have, i’m not sure how to feel about all this, but I am happy that I already have a consult with a surgeon next week.

I had a PT end of Aug that came back follicular carcinoma widely invasive. I had my other half removed 2 days ago that went out for testing.
Wondering what to expect in terms of RAI. I was told there’s a chance I won’t need it but we can’t be certain until I get the results. If they come back clean I’m under the impression there’s still a chance I’ll need RAI to be safe. Also wondering what follow up scans look like and all that with follicular cancer as the spread is very different from what I hear.
Just looking for personal experiences to wrap my ahead around what to expect! Thanks

Hi everyone, hope you’re doing well.
I had surgery for PTC about a year ago, two nodules, one on each side - total thyroidectomy.
Months after it they found a suspicious lymph node on US and decided since I’m intermediate risk I should have RAI.
My tg is finally dropping along with my TSH - started with 12 and 16 respectively, down to 1 and 4.4 now - still far from where I should be.
There are delays with the Iodine delivery in my country and because of which my RAI was rescheduled from October to December, basically a year after my surgery.
I’m just being fearful of those delays and if its gonna cost me my health so I’m just looking for opinions (not medical advice) on if such delays affect the outcomes and effectiveness of those treatments. My oncologist said she doesnt believe its gonna affect it too much, but still, in the position we are all in you can’t really gamble.

30F PTC with hemithyroidectomy a year ago. Went in for my first annual ultrasound and “complex” lymph nodes noted, so they’re recommending a FNA 🫠
Is it like this every ultrasound until an eventual completion surgery and RAI? The frequent testing is unnerving, just trying to set some realistic expectations

After TT, dealing with Constipation with normal TSH and T4. Anyone has same issue? It’s very frustrating

I’m in the UK and I’ve been in this feed for about 18 months since I found out I had a nodule on the right side of my thyroid. I had to lose weight before surgery but got there and had a hemithyroidectomy on the 18th of September.
My results have come back and it was tall cell papillary cancer, they’re going to take the rest of my thyroid out and then do radioactive iodine treatment.
I’m wondering what people’s experience has been of having a second surgery so close to the first (my completion surgery is on the 6th of November) and what the radiation treatment was like?

I got my TT + CND in april
RAI in june & and 175 thyroxine started
I lost weight rapidly after this in 3 months 5 kg down ( tho i had started a clean diet + workout for the first time in my life)
Got crazy hairfall but good skin
Now about 6 weeks back my thyroxine changed to 150Mcg
I'm having some bad symptoms
- MOST IMPORTANT ONE IS body heat
I'm not sweating but my body always feels it's on fire i can't stay with AC and in night even in AC my body feels like burning as hell that i woke up and got into cold shower immediately last night around 3am
Apart from this I'm having crazy acnes maybe because of body heat
Insomnia
Crazy appetite increase
Breathing problem ( i had this when i was doing LID but after starting 175 i was feeling better but it came again now)
Feeling lethargic all day
Tho i have stopped working nowadays but my diet is still clean
Skin is getting darker
Tho hairfall has completely stopped
