I haven’t been keeping up with the news lately, other than Waverley is closing soon for renovations. Can anyone fill in this sad bookworm? Thank you in advance!

Little Story Time

On my morning drive, someone blasted by me in the school zone of Westgate. Totally normal occurrence, cops don’t go over there and pull over anyone, so everyone goes 60 through the whole zone. This particular specimen was definitely faster than that, weaving between lanes and cars.

Well, they get stopped by the red light and I manage to be in the lane next to them. As the light turns green, I pull a little goblin move and pull in front of them and continue driving 60 through the normal zone.

Oh they got mad at that. Tried to switch lanes fast but couldn’t due to cars in the other lanes. They stayed pissed and tailgated me all the way to the next lights, before suddenly deciding they needed to be in the left turn lane next to me. They yelled some bullshit and threw a cup of water at me. I laughed at them.

I know it’s not my place to police roads, I never do, but these garbage people deserved it. Not my typical reaction, but they were ridiculous.

If the people who did this this morning are reading this, seriously, do better. What the fuck is wrong with you?

EXAM PROCTORS??!!

Hey, disaster has stuck and im potentially without a proctor for my midterms next week, due to the closure of the libraries. I am a remote student at Humber Polytechnic and its was difficult to find the proctor i had, its very much up in the air at the moment.

If anyone has any idea who else I can ask, or if you yourself are qualified to do so, id owe you my life! I'll pay you obviously!

Unfortunately the college doesnt offer it right now.

I am just beyond stressed.

local A quick TBayEats update and thanks for all the feedback🍕

Hey everyone,

It's been almost a week since we shared TBayEats here, and we wanted to say thanks to everyone who checked it out and took the time to share their thoughts. The number of visitors we got has been really inspiring! We really appreciate it!

One thing a few people pointed out was the AI-generated food images, and that's completely fair. We understand that people would rather see actual photos of the food they're ordering.

We're currently covering over 2,500 dishes from restaurants across Thunder Bay. Copyright law doesn't allow us to simply take photos from Google or restaurant websites and use them without permission or a licence. That's why getting real photos for every dish isn't possible for us just yet.

But we're working on it! We're looking into adding more real food photos wherever possible, and we're also planning a small feature where anyone can upload their own food pictures and give us permission to use them on the website.

Currently, we hope the service helps people choose a meal big or small, pizza or burger in 2 min rather than 20!

We're still improving things, and the feedback from this community has genuinely been helpful. So if there's anything else you'd like us to change or add, please let us know!

Also, happy National Shawarma Day! 🌯

We've added a special banner to the website for today. If you're in the mood for shawarma, head over to https://tbayeats.ca/ and click "See shawarma offers" to check out the latest deals we've found around Thunder Bay.

Thanks again for supporting a local project!

AI restaurants

Is there a tally of restaurants that use AI? I’m debating on starting a list. I know for startups it may be hard to get your own work done but like… being so lazy as to not photograph your own food to put on skip or uber is crazy.

scene RIP RJ Mitte (1992–2026), who gave Thunder Bay a shoutout in Breaking Bad

This clip has been shared here before, but with the sad news of RJ Mitte's passing, I thought it was worth sharing again.

Back in 2009, during the Season 2 finale of Breaking Bad, his character Walter Jr. mentions a $20 donation from Thunder Bay, Ontario, to his father's fundraising website.

Just a small moment, but it's always neat hearing Thunder Bay mentioned in such an iconic television series.

Rest in peace, RJ.

LPH - Surveying?

Does anyone know anything about the land surveys being conducted around the LPH grounds? Is something moving forward with the property? For close to the last week there's been someone onsite working and they've mowed several sections of the field and former garden.

local Thank You To The Person Who Stole My Wallet at InterCity And Spent $96 at the Dollarstore

Newly acquired drivers license, two cards on a broke college student budget. All sacred items in my wallet are in the hands of someone who decided my money was best spent on god knows what from where.

I know I’m dumb, and it had to happen on the one day I decide to wear a hoodie that doesn’t like holding things.

I don’t even know why I’m posting this. The person who stole it probably doesn’t even have the means to use Reddit so I guess this is just going out into empty space.

Feel free to leave your own TBay robbery experiences! It’d be nice to know I’m not alone…

Revving engine

Post image
15 Upvotes

To the Mr. Man Bignutz that decided to rev his annoying loud engine on May St a couple minutes ago and wake everyone up:

I'm sure they have specialists that can help you with that pico-appendage of yours. Micro is too generous.

Also, I hope your vehicle stalls far from home when you have uncontrollable diarrhea and no one will let you use their toilets.

Jerk.

Edit: He's back again speeding passed The Alley. Someone threw a bike on the road and he just ran over it.

White lifted Dodge (I think), 4-door with extended mirrors.

Jimmy Johns pricey

Heard my American buddies I play games with online talking about this place, I’m not much of a sub fan but my dad is, he goes there, orders the Italian club I think it was. Mind you it’s our fault for not asking the price but no prices were listed, kinda just figured it was gonna be reasonable. He ends up paying 25$ for their Italian club, just food for thought, it’s a bit pricey there

How do Canadians who favor lower immigration view immigrant healthcare workers converting their licenses?

Hello, I am a healthcare worker from India currently undergoing the rigorous process of converting my license to practice in Canada. I see a lot of discussion about lowering immigration levels due to housing and infrastructure strain, but also a massive shortage of medical staff. For those who support reducing immigration numbers, do you see healthcare workers as a necessary exception, or does it not change your overall perspective? How do you feel about immigrants you came across during hospital visits or treatments?

Any suggestions on where to get Bordetella shots for our dogs. Our vet says 18 month wait for a vaccine that lasts 12 months. They don't see an issue with that math.

I'm thinking of moving...tell me the pros and cons

I've lived in Ottawa for 3 decades and I'm ready for a new location. Tell me if I should put TB in my top three list or not.

Edit: more than 1K views but no up votes and one down vote to make it a 0 post. More replies about "search previous posts" and "have you looked at a map" than any actual engagement. Interestingly, if you ask people from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and many many other places - they'll tell you about the charm of their town, about lovely parks, attractions, horrible traffic, how students are loud in x area, that there are drug problems, or the city council is stupid. You guys are mad that someone was interested enough to ask people about their city. Very interesting.
