1. Thrice is my favorite band and they're releasing a new album called Vheissu. They're going to be doing a meet and greet at the tower records on Sunset. I'm there. I bring a paperback copy of Pynchon's V to impress them (I still haven't finished it. Pynchon's great but a tough read). Then I, to a member, say something dumb to each of them. They were open, affable and kind, and I just was a dumbass meeting idols. I couldn't get out of my own way and I think about that evening a lot. Too much. I'd like to say I learned from it, but I probably didn't. Maybe don't meet your favorite band when you're 24 and an idiot.

I remember telling Dustin that I've listened to their cover of a Minor Threat song, cause I was working at Activision at the time. It was on the soundtrack to a game they were publishing. I said minor threat are like the partridge family of hardcore, a line I parroted from an older and not wiser punk rock friend of mine. Dustin said, "huh what does that mean?" And Teppei taps Dustin's forearm and shook his head and said no, knowing that whatever I said would make things worse, not better. That moment, that no, has echoed in my head for over two decades.

Gonna try to see them this month and apologize for something they couldn't possibly remember and I can't ever forget.

I think I got this in 2000 at Koo’s Cafe in Santa Ana, CA. Thrice used to play like twice a month there for 5 bucks.

This was my prized possession as a kid, I barely wore it. Haha Can’t believe I fit into this thing at some point in my life. I have many more I’ll post if people want to see them.

I recently posted a memory from the night of the TAITA record release show and wanted to share a few more cool pieces from back in the day. I came across this stuff yesterday when looking through an old box and had completely forgotten about most of it.

Image 1: Some pics from the Halloween 2003 show with Thursday and Coheed. They dressed as skeletons and it still makes me think of Karate Kid to this day lol. We got to chat with Ed and Riley briefly after their set. Was able to snag those skulls hanging from Teppei’s amp right after their set ended and they were breaking down the stage.

Image 2: Only got Dustin and Teppei to sign the skulls, which is odd considering I really only remember talking to Riley and Ed. It was 23 years ago so needless to say I’m a little fuzzy on details 😅

Image 3: More cool things from the TAITA release show.

Image 4 & 5: A couple of EPs from the TAITA and Vheissu releases. Can’t even remember getting the Killing Moon one signed, or why only 3 of them signed it.

Image 6: Some signed extra insert cards for the TAITA CD booklet. I’m pretty sure these were from the early days of the Thrice Alliance. One is about the Alliance, another is the band’s thoughts on the new album, and the third is their playlists and readlists during album production. Pretty cool.

Image 7: Limited edition TAITA double vinyl from the 2003 release. I think they only made 1,500 of these.

Image 8: Same for Vheissu in 2005. This one was limited to 1,000 iirc.

Image 9: A setlist from a show sometime after the TAITA tour and before Vheissu (we were obsessed 20-year-olds who took anything we could get our hands on lol). Couldn’t tell you which show because we went to so many of them.

Image 10: Stubs from some shows, mostly from 2003-05 and a few after. This isn’t even half though! I wish they still did physical tickets like this…

If you made it this far, thanks for reading! Hopefully you enjoyed this trip down memory lane with me ✌🏻

Was stoked to get this hat with the real tree logo making it onto the lid. Anyone else’s have this too? The gal at the merch table thought it was rare 😂

I accidentally altered a melody here and there, but I was aiming for an accurate arrangement. Hope you all like it.

I bought this shirt at an authorized online store but I am bit surprised about the blurry image, the font is sharp though. From the offical image I expected a more clear picture, much like the album artwork.

Is this supposed to be that way? It is a black shirt, the Thrice store also has it in other colors but I guess they would be the same?

Are the Illusion of Safety shirts (mint, black and the Anaheim motif) the same art/print style? Thanks for advice. One shirt from there would be over 80 € to order including all costs....

Thanks for your feedback

Tacoma was a vibe!!! Ending with Gnash was god tier.

Thrice absolutely killed it, so glad I got to go to the show!
