Discussion To all the new players who think Tw3 combat is boring

Post image
3.7k Upvotes

Sure the combat is boring … if u think TW3 combat is about sword slashing and playing on lower difficulties, don’t forget it is a 2015 released game

now this is what is fun about the witcher 3:

Death march difficulty teaches you how to be a real witcher, Monsters are deadly they are supposed to one shot you or two shot you that’s how they r supposed to be in real life one mistake and u r gone otherwise there wouldnt be need for witchers

Death march makes you really study ur monsters, knowing their strength and weaknesses and how to exploit them

The fun in the witcher 3 is for example knowing u have a contract on a monster, you have to take the time to read about it in the bestiary, apply the right oils, prepare the right decoctions and useful momentary potions

Apply the right skills that make your damage 500% more lethal, sign intensity at 200% that gives u good igni damage and good quen defense, and reward you with 3000 or 5000 more health

The satisfaction you get alone from beating a deadly monster after the right preparations that you knew without them u’d be dead meat, that is the satisfaction we get from TW3, not playing on story mode and slashing all ur enemies with the same button mashing and think that that’s all TW3 is about

Add a very good narrative to the story and you end up with the witcher 3 that is considered to this day king of all RPGs, that won game of the year, peaked 120 000 players on steam after 11 years since release.

To all new players who want to learn how to play the witcher 3 here is a video from NEON KNIGHT that shows how to exploit all ur advantages in the witcher 3 :

Discussion I just tried the Remastered, and both sides of the fanbase have a point.

Indeed, the image looks washed out in some areas. There’s a significant loss of color that, rather than looking realistic to me, reminds me of poorly implemented HDR. On the other hand, in most areas, the visual changes are fantastic; in some, they’re simply breathtaking.

As for the gameplay changes, they’re flawless. This is pretty much as good as it could possibly get, considering this is a game from 2015. Geralt and Roach feel more agile, while also having greater control and a more grounded sense of weight, which gives them a more realistic and immersive feel. They’ve done the same with the combat.

The rest of the additions, both to the skill menu and the inventory, are exactly what we were hoping for.

If they end up releasing a patch to fix the washed-out colors in some areas, we’ll be looking at the perfect and definitive update for *The Witcher 3*.

The screenshots are from this video. Give it a look:

Discussion I think it’s pretty disrespectful of CD Projekt that they don’t want to take our money. I’d be more than happy to pay full price for the remaster.

Edit: This isn’t a complaint, this game is amazing!
Also found out Dawnwalker stays 33% until you get to main quests. Hell of a game!

Started The Blood of Dawnwalker last night, great game but the difference between these 2 it goes to show The Witcher 3 is phenomenal in its own right as is Blood of Dawnwalker! Blood of Dawnwalker is amazing & will have a bunch more playthroughs to see the different outcomes.

Discussion Why does Geralt carry two swords, one steel and one silver? Of course, someone will jump in and say, “The steel sword is for humans, and the silver sword is for monsters.” But why doesn’t he just use the silver sword on humans too, instead of weighing himself down by carrying both?

Discussion What are your best mods to enhance experience?

Preparing for next playthrough and looking for interesting mods to download while waiting for W3EE Redux mod to be updated.
What are your best mods you use to enhance your experience visually and gameplay? I am mainly looking for mods which improve game mehanics or make game richer or a bit more sandboxy so you have more to do than just campaign.

Discussion Gradually abandoning crossbow

Post image

Hello , fellow witchers. Being a book fan and fan of the Dark Horse Comics - I have always felt uneasy using the crossbow unless I am forced to (Yes, only during underwater times). I am trying to play this first remaster session of mine as a crossbow free Geralt the Trad Witcher. Anyone else plays a crossbow free Geralt? Would love to know.

Also , I have found a website saying the silver chain coming with the Songs of the Past DLC - will have use underwater too like the crossbow. If that happens then I might be one of the happiest players in the forum. Whipping drowners and sirens underwater will be damn delicious.......

Discussion The neurodivergent urge to clear question makes lead to this.

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

My brain got a bit of hyper focus today and decided I absolutely had to clear all the water based ? in Skellige. This was the end amount of weight gathered.

I’d probably cleared 10-15% of them Friday and Saturday, so this is just what was left.

Never gonna get rid of all of it lol. Thank the gods for the ignore item weight option!

Edit: coming back in 12 hours later to express annoyance at myself for the typo in the title. Marks is not makes, autocorrect! Question marks!

Edit 2: I was using the ignore item weight option already. I just turned it off to see just how much I had picked up. Thanks to all suggesting it, my fault for not making it clear :)

Discussion What do you think about Ciri being a Witcher in the 4th game?

Post image
1.9k Upvotes

I’ll start this by saying that if you think the game is “woke”, you are a moron, as Ciri IS the main character throughout most of the source material and, even if she wasn’t, that fact wouldn’t change.

The only complaints i have about the trailer are her being an actual Witcher and her using signs, nobody would ever allow her to go through the trial of herbs nor would they teach her Witcher signs as “they are useless to someone with her blood”.

The games have always been somewhat accurate when it comes to the books, albeit with some compromises for gameplay reasons and for a game series to actually exist, but this trailer seems a bit too far fetched, even with all the compromises made by the previous games, what do you think?

Discussion How come so many common folk in Witcher 3 just let you walk into their homes and steal their stuff even when they’re in the same room?

Post image
987 Upvotes

Hi.

Love this game and it’s probably in my top 5 all-time, so this isn’t really a complaint and it makes the game easier.

But it doesn’t seem realistic to me that only when you do looting in front of the guards that you get punished.

Is it because if someone like Geralt with all these deadly weapons and armor walks into your home, you‘re immediately afraid and will not complain about losing any of your possessions?

Discussion Hoping this will happen one last time 🙃

Do you think they will give us a discounted price one last time before the remastered release?

I played a few rpgs before and naturally tried to play witcher 3 too. Unfortunately, i realized early on that it just wasn't for me and got a refund. From what I remember, early game was a lot of story dumping which lost me bcs i don't play the previous games, exploring early game areas are not really rewarding, combat is pretty boring, and a card game I don't understand even a bit.

Never had a chance to give it a second chance which i'm now interested in doing for the remaster but I'm kinda broke ngl.
