Basically, if he was a poker player, he did a very good bluff.
What Dongmin did was like Sara in this video. Sara Poker Bluff

ID Card Theft
iirc korean tv banned this episode LOL
I wish Netflix would broadcast The Genius at least once!

If you were going to skip a season it would be 2. But being the objectively worse season of a top tier show means it is still better than most of the other shows, plus you learn about the players which makes later seasons and shows more enjoyable. The main reason it hasn't been on recent watch list people are posting is that it is not the most relevant to Devil's Plan 3 which is coming out in Nov.

I think season 2 is phenomenal as well. There's so much great content in it. I'd highly encourage you to give it a try.

go to season 3 first if you are uncertain - 3 and 4 are peak

Right, the adaptation is there, but it's kinda an uphill battle for him. I still think that specific type of chaos is what the format needs.

Yes. She should have said it on her turn after dongmin’s move made it unsolvable. It’s the rule of the game
r/TheGenius • u/ikatatlo • 18h ago
So her move should've been to say it was impossible first?
r/TheGenius • u/eeqkz • 19h ago
If the solution is truly impossible, the first one who call it out during their turn wins

Its not as bad as people said. Yes some player did not play it as fair or ethical. In real life one of the player did lost their career afterwards.

I’m surprised that someone hasn’t explained the ID theft in more detail. Without spoilers:
The game was about trading cards, so when people traded, they would go to the dealer’s table, submit their little ID token, receive their stored cards from a “bank”, trade, and their new cards would go back in their bank.
At one point in the game, during some unrelated commotion where there’s a lot of shouting/excitement, two players notice that a player has left their ID on the table (they’re still in the room, just facing away). The two immediately pounce and steal it. From that point on, the player is completely unable to participate in the game and for the next few hours is basically just begging whoever stole it to let them play the game. Naturally, this theft results in them losing the match (because the thief ensures that their cards are bad) and the thief just drops the ID in a room somewhere just before the game ends.
There are lots of extra bad layers, but it’s hard to get into those without spoilers and that’s the main controversy of the episode.

That’s understandable. I tried thinking about it more and did think of a few cases of Hyunmin adapting (Middle Race, Horror Race 2), just not that smoothly/successfully, so I don’t think you were totally off the mark lmao

Im confused, what should she have done instead? I thought when Dongmin said it was impossible, it was his loss.

Watch it – 3 and 4 are the best seasons, but 2 is still great fun

I think some people dissapointed in S2 because the villain got the last laugh in the end and the player biggest favorite getting fumbled in the same episodes, so it kinda kill their enjoyment
But perspective wise s2 actually have the best main matches mechanic for me and that particular episode really had twist over twist lol it just funny.
I personally rate S2 higher than S3 even thou S3 players are smarter due to S3 having too much majority alliance that too hard for minority to go against, so sometimes it get stale and boring. Meanwhile in S2 at some point there was 1 vs everybody episode kinda like tdp S1.

I just reached the point this conversation is about and it’s not terrible, but there’s like three things around that time that kinda kill your enjoyment of the season and have made it so I’m not as excited to watch anymore. Definitely worth checking out up to that point and then deciding if you wanna continue.

I loved the Catch the Burglar and Horse Scamming Race. I love the betting games and also games that force new teams to talk to each other.

If you never knew about the drama surrounding it, you'd never even think it was an issue imo.
When I watched the full season I only found out about it when I went through reddit searching for The Genius topic and related shows. Only then did I realize that S2 in particular had a bad reception (seemingly. could be popular by views but criticized by knets loudly in their region at the time of airing?)
Big deal in the internet forums for korean viewers at the time but watching as a casual western viewer it didn't even hit me as unusual. Just part of an entertaining show (which that "incident" added more entertainment value to the episode imo).

All i'm gonna say is if you like a certain playstyle, you will like Season 2. It's worth watching.

Season 2 is worth watching but it’s also very skippable because nobody introduced in that season returns in the future

There are multiple options if you google baechu squad.
