REQUESTING For those who have seen the TV series Damages (2007)

1) I really enjoyed the first 3 seasons, but I didn't like the fourth one at all—I found it very forced and boring. Can you tell me if I should expect the same from the final season, or is it on par with the first few?

2) Do you have any other similar series that I might enjoy? I’m really into character-driven stories, complex dynamics, and—above all—plot twists, intrigue, and secrets. I’ve already seen the most well-known shows, such as *House of Cards*, *Breaking Bad*, *The Wire*, and so on. I was considering *The Lincoln Lawyer* or *The Good Fight*, but my issue is that courtroom trials tend to bore me; I much prefer the power games that happen behind the scenes. Do you have any recommendations? Both new and older series are fine.

REQUESTING I need help finding a new show to obsess over

Recently, I feel like I've watched every tv show worth my interest. I've literally been stuck on YouTube because I simply cannot find anything. The only new show to make me feel otherwise was Sterling Point, since it dropped I've been obsessed. Oh and I just finished East of Eden and that was phenomenal. But other than that I don't know what else could be up my alley. Here are some of my favorites:

(my all time favs are italicized)

  • Anne with an E
  • Empress
  • The Society
  • Young Royals
  • The End of the Fucking World
  • Skins
  • Arcane
  • Stranger Things
  • Sterling Point
  • I am Not Ok With This
  • Wayne
  • Outer Banks
  • Motorheads
  • Pen15
  • A Series of Unfortunate Events
  • One Day
  • Baby
  • On My Block
  • Boy Meets World
  • The Umbrella Academy
  • The 100
  • The Artful Dodger
  • The Great
  • Blackish
  • New Girl
  • The Amazing World of Gumball
  • Modern Family
  • The Queens Gambit
  • Never Have I Ever
  • Total Drama

I've also just started Attack on Titan, which is my first time really watching anime (unless you'd consider Naruto when I was like, 7 lol). But yeah, If anyone has similar taste and has any recs, PLEASE let me know. I'm dying here.

[IIL] A show like Rescue me, especially the ball busting humor and jokes [WEWIL]

I think Rescue Me was pretty unique in how it blended dark humor, especially the ball-busting and politically incorrect humor, with genuine drama. It's a style of humor that I'm not even sure exists much anymore, at least not in the same way.

I'd definitely be interested in hearing recommendations for other shows that capture something similar, even if they're older. What I'm particularly looking for is that natural back-and-forth between guys who constantly give each other a hard time, insult one another, and bust each other's balls, but still genuinely like each other, have each other's backs, and can work together when it matters.

I think what made Rescue Me stand out was how naturally that humor flowed into the drama. It didn't feel like the jokes were forced or that the characters were constantly trying to be funny. It just felt like the way those guys interacted with each other.

Ideally, I'd like something with that same combination of humor and drama, but I'm open to other genres, even sci-fi, if they capture that particular dynamic.

It's really more about the style of humor and the camaraderie than the setting itself. That mixture of relentless ball busting, genuine affection, and the ability to get serious when necessary is what I'm looking for.

REQUESTING Non “mini” series show

I’m so tired of all the mini series being released. My husband and I love long multiple season shows.

Like, LOST, House of Cards, Handmaid’s Tale, the Diplomat, The Office, Parks and Rec, breaking bad, Shameless…just to name a few.

We’re not binge watchers. Maybe an episode or two a night. But we want something that will just engulf us in the characters and their world.

Whatcha got! TIA!

Looking for a good murder mystery TV show to get hooked on. Any recommendations?

I feel like I’ve watched most of the popular ones already, including Only Murders in the Building, The Afterparty, The Residence, Sheep Detectives, and Seven Dials.

Also, 2010 Sherlock was peak television. It’s honestly unfortunate that no other version of Sherlock has managed to come close. 😭
Please recommend something that’ll actually keep me guessing!

SUGGESTING TV Show Recommendation: Dark, if you love shows that make you question everything

If you love mind-bending mysteries, time travel, complicated family connections, and plot twists that make you question everything you thought you understood, you NEED to watch Dark on Netflix.

This show is on another level. Every little detail matters, the timelines get complicated, and the characters are connected in ways you probably won't figure out right away. I love shows that make me stop and think, create theories, and try to piece everything together before the next revelation hits.

The best part is that it doesn't treat you like you need everything explained immediately. You have to pay attention and connect the dots yourself.

Just a warning: don't watch this while scrolling on your phone because you'll probably end up confused.

If you're into psychological mysteries, sci-fi, time travel, and stories that make your brain work overtime, give Dark a try. Go in as blind as possible!

Have you watched Dark? What other shows gave you that same mind-blowing experience?

Speakers

Don't know where else to say this but it needs to be said to those who may not quite understand. Getting a pair of speakers for your monitor/TV experiences, is without question a better purchase than water that month. 50 dollars for Z207 Logi computer speakers for monitors. And about 60 for a decent sound bar that is meant for TVs. Just buy it please. I'm sure some people in here have boxes behind their couches and I salute you. You understand completely the 2nd half of a viewing experience.

REQUESTING Show with an extremely smart woman mc

I really want to know if there is a show, a good show hopefully that has an incredibly smart/witty female mc, someone just like Patrick Jane in The Mentalist or House Md or Sherlock etc.

There are so many series with a male genius that no one questions and i really do love watching those but i keep on wondering is there a show just like that but with a woman genius in the spotlight? I really crave for a show where a girl pulls all the answers from you know where and it magically makes sense lol

I’d be happy with any recommendation when it comes to genre - really anything from horror to kdramas ;pp (can be cartoons too but those for an older audience)

Edit: thanks to everyone that responded!!! I cannot physically reply to all of you but i really do appreciate every single reply and I’m currently fixing a watch list lets gooo

REQUESTING Shows like Young Royals or Arcane

I have a dillemaaaaa xd

So...this has been going on since forever so now I turn to the holy redditors for help 🙇

I really loved both of these shows! They both had their special traits (Arcane with the beautiful visuals and whole new fantasy world to discover, Young Royals with lots and lots of drama and scandalous twists), but in the end they were both similar in one way: how they were written.

Many different plots coming together in one BIG thing. So many strings getting knotted. Just this whole net that in the end makes this huge picture etc. I love itttttt

Nowww do yall know any other shows/or just films like this?

PS: aaanndd before yall come at me, I was really bored of heartstoppers xD sorry but it didn't work for me :))

REQUESTING New Show for Me, My Husband, and Little Sister

We have Hulu, and HBO Max, but we are open to trying other streaming services. My sister is only twelve, and my husband and I are twenty and twenty-one.

We’ve been enjoying Heartland, for awhile, although my sister likes it more then me and my husband, but we haven’t finished it yet.

My husband and I both enjoyed The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, Game of Thrones, House of Dragon, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

My sister and I both enjoyed Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Sense and Sensibility, Find Me in Paris, and Spellbound.

My sister and husband both enjoyed Liberty's Kids.

REQUESTING Looking for animated shows to watch, similar to Haunted Hotel and with similar psychological themes? (Might be sensitive topic) Spoiler

Hii! This might be a weird request but let me explain. Recently, I finished Haunted Hotel (Netflix) and I really connected with the subtle psychological themes of suicide and depression with a mix of comedy- I really connected with the dark themes as someone who’s had experience with that and I want to really connect to the characters and their stories as well. I’m a comedy person, and I love comedy with a mix of horror, especially in an animated show. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me? Before you immediately comment, I’ve seen BoJack horseman and smiling friends (those are common recommendations I’ve gotten) Anyways, does anyone have any suggestions/similar shows? I’m open to anything and any rating as long as it doesn’t have 5 or more seasons.

REQUESTING Looking for delightful TV shows to watch during a hard semester

Hi all! I'm having a pretty stressful time in college right now, and I'm looking for some media to decompress to. I just finished watching The Bear, and (MINOR SPOILER ALERT) Richie had my favorite arc by FAR. I loved watching people forge real connections together, and come around to collaboration and love. Since finishing the show, I've been mostly watching youtube indie animations like $uperego, cat city/catopolis, and other smaller projects. A final, kind of stupid example is that one episode of the big bang theory where the ladies get into comic books. I'm really just looking for a good show that has strong interdependent character development and learning about one another. Bonus points for a good ensemble cast. Thanks everyone!
