Do you think real estate prices will plateau in the next 5 years?

• Upvotes

With all the new residential developments popping up across Tbilisi, I’m wondering if we’re heading toward oversupply.

Do you think property prices will continue rising over the next 5 years, or are we approaching a plateau?

Every cloud has a silver lining: 16 men in a basement, a free food parcel, and a Kazakh who slipped me 50 lari

I reached out to a group of young Russians I once met at a bar where I performed at an open mic. They added me to a chat. Mostly my peers young guys and girls hustling however they can. Several jobs, side gigs. Some fled mobilization. I wrote a short message saying I was looking for help. And they responded. One offered to buy groceries. One girl gave me an address and said I could hang out there during the day, for free, and use the Wi-Fi. Turned out it was a hostel in Avlabari.
I'd already been kicked out of the hostel I was in. Someone from Reddit helped me pay for one night. For the next night, so I wouldn't have to move again, I asked the owner. He let me stay one more night. I offered to help around the house. He said no need.
So I don't sit still. I search, I walk, I knock on doors. Half of Tbilisi knows me by now. I walk into a hotel, ask if they have work. Turns out the guy is from Kazakhstan too. He probably wanted to check me, so he says: show me your hostel. I go, I bother the admin. Awkward. But my fellow Kazakh says: she can stay, I'll pay. The admin says: I'm expecting a big group, no space. In the end, the guy slips me 50 lari.
Back to searching. Someone sent me money on PayPal. Thanks, dude. But I can't withdraw it no card yet. Opening a card is a quest I don't have the energy for. So if anything, don't send more there.
I order a taxi to Avlabari, to the hostel where supposedly you can hang out and surf the internet for free. And just so you understand: everything I own fits in one sedan. But for some reason, the taxi drivers I called didn't want to take one person and their stuff to the next neighborhood. First one refuses. Second. Third. A Tesla showed up. I ordered comfort, maybe they're more agreeable, especially since the price dropped. In the end, a Tesla drove me. I don't even know how it opens. The driver was decent. But he didn't take me all the way, so I had to carry my bags. Uphill. And I did it.
I arrive at the hostel, walk into the female room, settle in. I meet the owner. He listens to my story and says: let me help you, I'll give you 2–3 free nights here, but downstairs. I move down and see: 16 men. A basement. High humidity. I'm furious. I say: no, I'll pay for this night, but I'm staying upstairs. And the guy who wrote that he'd help with groceries turns out to work there as a part-time admin, and he gives me 25 lari.
So I pay 28 lari. The owner tried to charge 35. I said: on Booking it's 28, I'll pay 28. Later I found out if you come off the street without Booking, he rents it for 25. A real entrepreneur. And now everyone knows me as the broke girl.
I sit down and find a leaflet for an organization that helps with food. Without a second thought, I go through all the circles of hell filling out the form and all the small print. And voila: today I got a decent haul. Mostly grains. No vegetables or fruit. But my body is grateful even for this.
So it wasn't for nothing that I came to that hostel where supposedly you can sit and surf the internet for free. And yes, I left the next day. Moved somewhere cheaper.
Has anyone else here been through something like this in Tbilisi? Hostels, landlords, taxi drivers, the whole circus? Sometimes I feel like I could write a book. If you've got a story drop it in the comments. Would be good to know I'm not the only one.

Just trying to find a person who shares same values as me.

Hello! I'm a 25 year old native Georgian male.

I recently thought to myself that it would be great to find someone who shares my values and is open for a relationship, someone I might never have met otherwise. Just imagine: if we connect, it's a bond that likely wouldn't have happened under any other circumstances.

A little bit about myself:

I enjoy peace and nature.

My main hobby is cooking, it's also my love language. I truly enjoy cooking for someone as a way to show my affection.

I'm a very straightforward person; people never have to guess what I'm thinking.

I thrive when I'm deeply passionate about something or someone.

I love having deep conversations about opinions, feelings, and life's struggles.

To me, the small things matter most. They bring us joy and often reveal a person's true character.

I don't care about hot topics, trends, or mainstream media.

I work a lot and also I'm getting my master's degree.

I really enjoy watching a movie and talking about it together afterward.

My main goal in life is to do my best for my family and find peace and joy along the way.

I'm looking for a relationship. If you're interested in building a real connection, I'm right here.

Where in Tbilisi do people buy good quality meat? Nothing special or overly expensive just fresh and tastes good. I prefer not to buy meat that is already frozen.

Learning Georgian

Hello!

I am a 29M and I am wanting to learn Georgian for my day-to-day life. So I have decided to come to Reddit to ask around for help.

What I am looking for:

- A native Georgian speaker, preferably someone with at least some experience in teaching Georgian as a second language.

- A course for 12 weeks long, where we meet at least once per week for an hour either in-person or online.

- I would like to focus on vocabulary, basic grammar, the alphabet, and spelling.

What I am offering:

- 300-400GEL for the full 12 weeks (Approximately 25-30GEL per hour). The price can be negotiable depending on how experienced you are.

- English practice! I am a native English speaker, so if you want to practice your English, I am more than happy to help!

- If we decide to meet in person for lessons, I am happy to buy coffees and/or snacks as well.

I do not discriminate based on age, race/ethnicity, gender, or religion so I expect you to be the same.

If this something you would be interested in and want to know more, or if you know someone who would be interested, feel free to send me a DM!

Side discussion (IT jobs here)

Georgian here, hello. Basically, I'm working towards a CCNA certificate (networking cert). I'm taking my time with it and am studying diligently. I'd just like to connect with people (Georgian or not georgian) who have traversed through the same path and can give me some tips and tricks to aid me navigate. I've been abundantly committed to this field for the past 5 months (yea I know its nothing but better late than never) and don't see myself leaving it. I'd love to connect with someone who already works with this cert and can show me what his/her path was to the first job. What are the chances of securing a NOC role in the U.S. thanks to GMT+4 and working a night shift. You know, those kind of questions. Please pardon me for swerving a bit from this subreddit

Error when entering my bank IBAN on Revenue Service website

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently registered as an Individual Entrepreneur (IE) in Georgia and am trying to fill out my information on the Revenue Service website before applying for Small Business Status (1%).

The website gives me this error in Georgian:

As far as I understand, it means that my personal identification number and bank account number don't match.

The problem is that the identification number was automatically assigned during my IE registration, and I cannot change it. I entered my Georgian bank account's IBAN, and the account is registered in my own name.

I never provided any bank details when registering my IE, so I'm not sure why the system is rejecting my account.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Do I need to link my bank account to my tax profile somehow, or is there something else I'm missing?

Thanks!

Are you a native speaker of Georgian and willing to help out in research? Please reply to my questionnaire about Georgian dialects!

I'm a Linguistics Master's student from University of Helsinki, Finland conducting a research project on Georgian dialects. My study depends on me getting as many answers as possible, so any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm traveling to Georgia (Tbilisi, Kutaisi & Zugdidi) with my research group 17.-26.10., so there's also a possibility for a short 20-30min face-to-face interview if you would be interested!
