Discussions This postseason, the Rays are averaging ~3 runs per game and have yet to score more than 5 runs in a single game. Who do you trust to break our slump this week in Cleveland?

It’s the postseason, you’re facing ridiculously good pitching. They can win close low scoring games, they have been doing it all year long. I don’t really see it as a big problem.

We’ve been great at it all year. But we definitely can’t bank on it if we advance and face the Brewers or Dodgers.

Why not? The dodgers only scored 5 runs in 2 games

Not to mention, quite a few elite lefties, but they've still hung with them.

Do you know how many close games it takes to get 41 saves? Maybe, just maybe, this is Rays baseball.

There is no slump, we are 4-1

Cammy isn't slumping by any means but I expect him to break through with his first playoff homer.

He’s been hitting the ball fairly well. Sooner or later he’s gonna atomize a mistake pitch!

My thoughts exactly.

Yuuuup. Pitchers aren’t giving him much to hit thus far, but all it takes is one pitch catching toooooo much of the plate…..

I want to say Junior, but it could very well be Richie

We've faced two of the best pitching staffs in baseball. Not surprising that its been hard to score

This is the playoffs. There’s 4 teams left. If you thought you’d run into crap pitching, you’re sorely mistaken

I mean weve faced the yankees who have elite pitching, and the guardians who are routinely a pitching factory. Im not so sure its a slump moreso than us just going against a bunch of great pitchers

Yea I mean when you break it down we've faced Cole, Schlittler, Fried, Foster Griffin (not on the same level but solid) and Messick and we're 4-1. Not to mention relievers like Weathers, Blackburn, Bednar, Gaddis, and Cade Smith. Those are some seriously talented arms. Should've beat Griffin but Drew and company had an off night. We had a 2 run lead for a lot of the game.

Time for Chandler to break out with a pair of two home run games!

Taylor Walls first

Yep and his 2 home runs all year was in the same game

Still need Yandy and Junior to have their October moments, like Junior hitting the walk off homer that sends us to the WS

So this thing is going 6? I'm waiting for us to wIn so I can buy plane tickets to match my WS tickets.

All that matters is reaching 4 wins before the other team. There aren't bonus points for scoring a bunch of runs.

u/Slinky_Malingki RISP? Get me Walls. 4h ago

Caminero needs to hit his first homer.

The Rays are somewhat limited offensively. We’ve known this all season, so I don’t expect that to change. We still have enough to beat the Guardians who are even more limited offensively. Now beating the Brewers or Dodgers who have a lot more firepower is going to be very difficult for us!

Brewers were tied for second lowest home runs in MLB. Their offense is similar to ours except just more consistent

u/Florida_man_15 Doug Waechter 3h ago

They were also second most runs scored in baseball so they know how to score without the long ball. That's terrifying

The remaining teams are all about that same runs per game.

-Cleveland: 4.43

-Tampa Bay: 3.20

-Milwaukee: 3.67

-LAD: 3.17

We've faced arguably the toughest rotation in the Yankees. Milwaukee faced arguably the toughest bullpen. The Dodgers faced the Braves who are average outside of Sale. And Cleveland faced the clear worst pitching staff of the 4 in the White Sox. Obviously I would love to score more but this October baseball makes it pretty tough. Not only do you have top relievers but you have starters in the bullpen. Cleveland got to us the other night and got to the White Sox. I think as a whole their lineup is the worst left in the post season however it's baseball and anything can happen. We could get hot tomorrow, as could Cleveland or anyone else. I trust our pitching

Cleveland scored 9 in one game vs Chicago and 7 on us in Game 1. Their number is skewed because of that.

2

u/Florida_man_15 Doug Waechter 2h ago

Exactly. They actually scored 9 in 2 games. Then they got shut out, scored 2 in a win and 3 in a loss before us. Like I said they faced the worst staff in the playoffs (well I guess 2nd worst next to the Cubs) and got our back end reliever and a guy that hadn't pitched in a month.

Needs to be Yandy.

For me it has to be Walls.

It's not a question of "who do you trust to break our slump". This is a team effort. It's exactly how we got this far and it's how we'll continue to show that we belong here. Everybody plays off their respective strengths and this group seems to have what it takes to go the distance this year

Ill take a slump and a 4-1 record now to think the bats are going to come alive in the next 3-10 days. We're due for a heater.

Except for game 1 against the guardians they’ve faced elite pitching
