šŸ’© SHIT POST 🚽 Temu Brian Anderson sucks

Only good thing about an off day is we don’t have to hear ā€œIT DOES NOT HIT THE RINGā€ on every single pop-up.

I miss Dwayne and the real BA.

Facts. Thats the worst part of playoff baseball. I miss them and I miss the post-game and pregame with Doug & Rich.

You can listen to the local guys on the radio broadcast.

Andy and Neil still the GOATs

Can't do that if you're watching on HBO/TBS

Right, but just listening to the radio broadcast is an option if you want the local guys. You can also just watch the game muted or on mute with the radio broadcast on if you can live with the delay. My point is people often complain about the bad national broadcasts as if there were not options.

My problem with that is that the radio and tv broadcast are usually not synced up at all, and that alone makes the viewing experience unwatchable to me.

Yeah. I don’t mind that at all. But I realize that’s a no-go for some. But I also love baseball on the radio.

I always pause whichever one is ahead and sync them up as best I can. Love me some Andy and Neil

Too bad they don’t offer the option like AppleTV, of watching the game with commentary from the local radio team.

That would be great! Why this isn't done everywhere, I don't know.

I've done it a few times for Lightning hockey, because those announcers are somehow far worse than the ones for baseball.

Same for me. I'd mute HBO Max and listen to the radio if it weren't for that issue.

I might be misremembering but I swear when we made the playoffs in the past we would still have a post-game show on Sun or whatever our network was after the games.

This is what I do: I turn on the radio broadcast and sync it up the best I can with the tv. Then I have local guys. No more insufferable national guys who don’t even talk to the local guys or involve them in any way.

You just fixed a problem I didn’t understand what had been happening. Every time they’ve been saying Brian Anderson I’ve assumed it’s BA. I keep thinking, well maybe he’s doing something behind the scenes. Every broadcast I’ve been waiting to hear him, and confused when I don’t.

You'll also hear this Brian Anderson called BA as well, which adds to the confusion

Wdae 95.7. Listen while watching is the move. Neil and Andy are the best in the game

I'm taking Brian Anderson / Francoeur / Ron Darling a million times over Jon Smoltz or Bob Costas

Brain Anderson is one of the best play by play guys IMO and the rings is very novel and interesting for people who don’t watch Tampa play often and they would like the viewing audience to be aware in case it comes up… not that big of a deal

Someone ask him about the Cody Bellinger ā€œalmost home runā€ /s

I really was excited for our Brian Anderson to be in the booth for nationally televised games. Then I learned there are other, duller Brian Andersons. I won’t make that assumption again. Thank God for Andy and Neil.

I know that this is an unpopular opinion but the announcers are fine. Here are a few things that I see all the time with every fan base:

When we lose it’s the coach/manager that was at fault. Fire them!

National broadcast announcers hate our team and are biased against it!

Our team gets no respect in the national media!

I really don’t think them saying ā€œit does not hit the ringā€ on every fly ball or getting players names wrong or saying shit like ā€œthe new roof will be retractableā€ or ā€œthe Yankees made four errors in game 1ā€ is good announcing.Ā

It’s factually incorrect stuff and careless, unprofessional blunders paired with the inability to be creative about how they talk about the game.Ā

One mistake? No big deal. Multiple a game? They need to focus.Ā

Two thing that bother me, otherwise I think largely they've been fine.

  1. The ring commentary - totally in agreement with you. Given how many fly balls there are, its actually somewhat unusual for the rings to be involved. Its not common enough to warrant commentary every time.

  2. I dont need to know how many batters away Jose Ramirez is every single at bat and after Jose Ramirez is out, I dont need to be reminded how relieved the pitcher must be and what a HUGE out that was. I understand they are just trying to highlight the best players, and Ramiez is an all timer... damn, its not prime Bonds. Take a deep breath.

But yea, otherwise, I think theyve been balanced and done a good job.

I guess I’m just not that into analyzing the announcers as much as I’m into watching the game. I didn’t even notice any of that. The announcers are telling me what I need to know and that’s good enough for me. But I can see why mistakes would bother you.

4

u/Hacym Devil Ray 13h ago

I don't think you really have to analyze the announcers, just listen. It’s jarring when you hear them say the wrong name, for example. Ā

Being brain dead and factually inaccurate to a large national audience is a bad look for TBS and the announcing crew. I know Dwayne and BA have their own stuff, but to be the crew tasked with calling big games should probably mean you know each player’s name.Ā

I agree with the other comments, it’s clear to me they just don’t care about the rays. And there were a few times they basically openly admitted to wanting the Yankees to win during the ALDS.

I've been watching the games on Unimas over the air and since it's a Spanish channel, it's been muted.

It does suck not listening to our guys.

Dude he’s the worst announcer in sports. The NLCS team is so much better
