We were sitting right next to security. It’s 2 minutes until the first pitch. He tells me it came over the radio there were still 13,000+ outside in line still coming in.

I still have no clue how the standing areas work. I was BSing with randos and a bunch bought any ticket they could just to be in the Trop. Those seats were never sat in but that ticket was sold.

I really don't understand why attendance should matter to fans of other teams. They aren't shareholders why the hell are they wringing their hands about it and acting offended that the Rays haven't relocated? I get that it's an easy dunk but some people actually seem to take it seriously. Anyone wishing that a fanbase loses their team just sucks.

Just makes them feel about their poverty team that either already got eliminated or didn't even make the playoffs at all. But at least they would hypothetically sell out hypothetical playoff games!!!! It's all about the moral victories these days!!!!

Funny enough Oakland only had 4 30k plus seasons in their history.

Because fans play zero part in the outcome of the game. So, they talk about the one thing they can control. It’s their sad way of feeling like part of the team.

For real, who gives a flip about attendance. It's just arbitrary means to show that we don't deserve where we're at and I'm tired of listening to all that noise.
Who cares about seats? I'm not going around sniffing for asses afterwards.
Just win our games, that's all that matters to me.

Who cares about attendance? If someone tries to talk shit about the Rays just tell them that the Rays are in the playoffs and their team isn't.
End of discussion. Let them be the petty assholes who stew in their own misery. Enjoy the moment and support the Rays for making it this far.

The bottom line on this is the fans will fill the seats if they really wanted to, no matter on what side of the bay the staidum is on. The Rays consistently put a great product on the field, so don't blame the team if the seats are filled.

The dynamics behind the Rays not selling out the ALCS is complex. The team’s success is simple. They are smarter than everyone else. They have been for years.

I have no idea why anyone ACTUALLY cares about sellouts besides bragging rights and the visual aesthetic. Once a stadium gets sufficiently full, it's more than loud enough to give that 'packed house' vibe. Maybe it's just open air stadiums have worse acoustics and you actually need that many people to get a good crowd noise lol.

Years ago there was a study conducted about who goes to Rays games. 80% of the people were from the Tampa side. Until the new ballpark is built things will stay this way. Love the Trop though. Go Rays!!!!

If y'all are feelin' a little cheeky, take a gander at this.
Yesterday's game (a Monday non-sellout) had higher attendance than Cleveland's Saturday ALDS game.
Click "next game" and our Tuesday non-sellout is about the same or slightly higher than their Monday one.
We're fine.
