Has anyone else had issues with the recent firmware update?

I put this off for a month because I was concerned there could be an issue, but after not seeing any posts about it I went through with it.

Here’s my issue:

1. I installed the firmware update

2. My Tablo rebooted but could never reconnect To my WiFi. I tried connecting it to my phone to re-establish but it failed to broadcast a WiFi network so I couldn’t connect.

3. I did a factory reset, and then was vale to with Bluetooth for setup. I went through WiFi setup and it hung again on the WiFi restart.

4. Now everytime I open the app it’s stuck In setup mode.

5. My Tablo is connected to my WiFi, on the Tablo device status website it says my Tablo has been found on this network, but not registered.

I’ve also tried purging Tablo data on my phone, deleting and reinstalling the app, and now I’ve relocated it adjacent to my router and connected it with an Ethernet cable. My router sees it as a wired connection, but the app cannot see it when I try to setup using and Ethernet connection.

The 4K Apple TV announced today comes with the A19 and dedicated support for AV1 video. That support has been missing in every previous generation and is the reason Tablo could not support rewind on shows being recorded. When recording a football game, you couldn't start playing it from the beginning.
With this new news, here’s hoping Tablo can bring full AV1 support to those with Apple TV 2026.

Please! Somebody tell me how to get rid of the advertisement for this program! I'm so tired of seeing this guy's smug mug plastered across my screen every.single.time I open my Tablo!

I've unfavorited the channel (Mysterious Worlds, I think it's called) and I've even uncheckmarked it from my list of scanned channels. That worked for a while, and yet, here it is showing up again!

I am on my second 4th generation Table and it has lost the ability to get the OTA channels. The first one just up and died and I lost a lot of recordings. That one was out warranty, but this one is still in the warranty period. I double checked my cables and replaced the cables with no luck. I contacted Tablo support and they had me do a few things with no luck. It has now been four days since they have contacted me.

Anyone have any other tips to check?

New Tablo user here. Is there any way to have my wired Apple TV work with the wireless Tablo?

It works if I put the Apple TV on WiFi but I prefer to have it wired for other items.

I started having an issue recently where I go to playback a recording and if I fast forward at the beginning or end of the show (to get through some commercials), and it freezes. And if I go out and come back in, it's fine. This only happens at the beginning and end of the recording. In the middle, I can FF through commercials and it works normally.

Watching on an Apple TV 4K. Using a Tablo 4th Gen. Everything is up to date. Plenty of space on my HD.

Anyone experience this or have a solution to fix it?

My morning recordings are showing up as blank boxes. Even stranger, this picture was taken on October 9th, and the Tablo lists two recordings for October 22nd, almost two weeks in the future. The settings page shows that the Tablo last updated 7 hours ago. Is anyone else having problems with recording after this recent update?

I have a legacy Tablo and I got a new router. Everything is working fine except the Tablo app. When I click on the app it says Tablo not found.

One of the many things that I have tried is uninstalling and reinstalling the app and now I can't even log into the app.

My user name is my email and I'm pretty sure I know my password but when I try that it says email or password is incorrect. The email definitely is correct but the password might not be.

I click on lost my password, it asks for my email again and it says to check my email for a link to reset password but I receive no email. Again, I am absolutely positive I entered the email correctly.

Yes, I checked my spam and/or junk email accounts.

I called Tablo but they were no help because the legacy Tablos are no longer supported.

I can't do anything else until I can login to my account.

Any ideas?

Any of you ever had this problem? It started happening to me about three hours ago. Every single one of my scheduled recordings refuses to stop when scheduled. I have to manually go in and tell it to stop recording. I actually had a thirty-minute recording record for an additional half-hour before I caught what was happening and manually stopped it. When I stopped it, there was no correction, no fix, no nothing. Instead, the recording was a 57 minute recording of a 30-minute show.

Any of you had this problem? Is there a way to fix it? All of my morning recordings are fine so this is a brand new problem.

I found a post from Tablo support stating that their 2-tuner model splits the signal four ways so that the performance is the same as the 4-tuner model. But this was in 2014, so it obviously pertains to an older generation.

Does the same still apply for the 4th-gen model?

I see a few posts, like from this guy, that say the 2-tuner splits two ways, and the 4-tuner splits four ways. But for all I know, he could just be guessing/speculating. Some people were even saying the same thing about the older generation until Tablo support stepped in.

The reason I ask is because I live in an area where TV signals can be weak. I also live in an apartment, so my antenna options are pretty limited. I have one of those flat antennas on my wall that does work, but it can be finicky at times.

Assuming both models split four ways, I'd like to get the 4-tuner model. I know there will many times when I want to record two channels at once, so want to have the ability to be able to watch or record a 3rd. But if the 2-tuner model actually only splits two ways and would have a better signal as a result, I may want that one instead to better guarantee that my channels come through. Am I overthinking this?

I know I could just get the 4-tuner and return it if it doesn't work out, and then try the 2-tuner model, but I would like to make the right decision now and get it while it's on sale.

A problem which I haven't experienced in months came back with a vengeance this week, with no fewer than three of my dozen or so recordings being ruined as a result. What makes it more frustrating is that I've never seen this problem reported anywhere, so I'm at a loss as to what, if anything, I can do about it.

It results in ruined recordings.

What happens is that the video of the recording plays way slower than it should. As a result, it slides further and further out of sync with the audio, which continues to play normally. As a result, after a few minutes, it's impossible to make head or tail of what one is seeing or hearing.

Because I haven't had this problem in months, I figured Tablo must have sent out an update that corrected the issue. Well, whether they did or not, the problem's back with a vengeance this week.

ADDENDUM: I misdiagnosed it; it's not that the video is running too slow; it's that the audio is running too fast. I just put the file through XMedia Recode, using the Tablo Player to download the file to my computer's local hard drive and then splitting them into audio and video files through XMedia Recode. The video for this particular show runs for -- yup -- two hours, while the audio only runs an hour and forty minutes.

Ive had my tablo 4th gen, 4 tuner for a couple years with, for the most part, no real issues. Then tonight I noticed all but the last couple days of scheduled recordings are gone, even ones I locked to keep. I'm using internal storage and generally sit around 70 to 80% used. Now its almost 0% on the recording bar.

Any ideas why this happened?

Anything I can do to keep it from happening again?

I recently bought a Vizio and quickly found out Tablo wasn't available. I had a Fire Stick that had the app, through that in, and back in business. I needed a fire stick for a projector for a party, bought another fire stick, and tablo isn't available to download. I thought it was just the version of fire stick, so for shits and giggles, I looked to see if the app was available for me cheap fire tv in my camper ( no ota channels available at the camp site) but the app wasn't available on that TV

So this is a long way of saying, what tv to buy? It's for my bedroom and we don't watch it often. So a cheap big tv that tablo works on.

I have a 4th Gen Tablo. When watching live TV, every 60 to 180 seconds, it goes grey for maybe a quarter second to buffer (the blue spinning circle pops up). While the total buffering time is small, it makes it awful to watch anything.

It is not hard wired into a router (I need to have the antenna on an exterior wall to get any signal), however it's maybe 5 feet from a router. I have a 12 year old Gen 1 firestick that's 80 ft from the router through a dozen walls alongside 7 or 8 other devies that have no problem streaming 1080p, so it certainly isn't a lack of data flow capacity on the router side.

I also don't have any exterior storage on the Tablo.

Has anyone seen this before and has any advice?

Disassembled Tablo for reference.

I have advised people several times about disassembling a Tablo unit and so am including these pictures as a reference to see where the guide posts, tabs and clips are to simplify the process for others.

With the unit held in my hand, near the top of the upper piece on either side are the guide posts, at the 90 and 270 degree positions and on either side of the light guide are the main locking tabs.

I hope this helps others and only ask if the pictures are referenced back to myself if used. I can do a markup version of them if it will also help others.

I know antenna needs vary from location to location, but bear with me... I'm curious if anyone has compared Tablo's antenna with other similar ones, like the Mohu leaf. Did one perform just as good or better than the other for you?

Backstory:
I have two TVs and each has a 40-mile range Moho Leaf mounted on my drywall about 6' off the ground. They work fine. In fact, they are pulling in channels that antennaweb.org said I wouldn't get because those towers are 60+ miles away. ChannelMaster recommends an outdoor antenna, which obviously isn't needed, apparently. I just don't think those sites are accurate for my location.

I'm considering getting a Tablo, mainly to use as a DVR. I'll probably leave my current antennas hooked up to my TVs for ease of use when I want to watch live TV, so that means I need another one for the Tablo.

I'm curious if I would probably be fine with the bundle and be done with it, or do I spend a little more and get another Mohu since I know that works?

I have had a legacy quad tablo for several years, but it got fried along with other equipment during an bad power event, even though I had all of these devices on heavy duty Tripp Lite power surge protection devices. So I bought a used legacy quad off of eBay. Part of the start up forced me to update its firmware to the latest, which I did. I also updated the Roku Legacy Tablo app to the latest as well. With enough cussing I eventually got the replacement legacy quad working fine - for about two days. Then suddenly it started jumping out of the legacy app as soon as it got to the screen with the bar along the lefthand side of the screen with the following options: Live TV, Recordings, Prime Time, TV Shows, et cetera. I tried reinstalling the Roku Legacy Tablo app. That did nothing to fix it. I reformatted the external hard drive since it was easy to do and had no real recordings on it yet, and that did not fix it. I called Tablo Support. Their solution to everything is to convert over to the new Gen 4 app for the Roku, but that would eliminate the commercial skip feature which is the whole reason I want to keep my legacy Tablo. Everything works fine when I connect to the legacy Tablo with the legacy Tablo phone app, or the my.tablotv.com app. It only exhibits this problem when I access the legacy Tablo with the legacy Tablo Roku app. I'm afraid to try to access it with the Gen 4 Roku app, as I'm concerned that will somehow forever lock me out of the commercial skip feature even if I get the legacy Roku app working again. I could try reverting to factory defaults on the Tablo, but it took about 3 hours of trying different things to get it working from that point when I first got it from eBay. I'll do that if I have to, but would prefer to run out of other things to try first. Any suggestions on what to try here?

I have on duplicate recordings, but everyday I go on and it's deleted one of my recordings, and it's always the one that records the best, and everyday I have to reschedule the recordings, for two weeks, then sometimes records, and sometimes doesn't record.

Tired of going through the same steps, reset, clear cache, rescan, unplug everything.

I'm trying to watch the Red Sox vs Yankees game, and I got the dreaded Failed to Decode error. I HATE the way Tablo handles this!

You get a choice to Retry or Dismiss. If you retry, it fails. ALWAYS! Because it's recorded, the data presented is ALWAYS the fricking same, so it ALWAYS fails, and you end up back at the same choice of Retry or Dismiss, ALWAYS!

Your only choice then is to start over at the beginning of the recording, even though they fricking know where you were. If you know how far into the recording you were, it is precariously possible to fast forward to the next key frame and lose only a few seconds of the recording. But you have fight the fricking Tablo to make this happen!

But why the frick do I have to try that? Just move the frick past the decoding error to the next key frame for me you dumb fricking programmers!

Do you use AI to write all your fricking code and can't do your BASIC FRICKING JOB to show a RECORDED VIDEO?

Show me fricking static, or a shrugging clown with its hands in the air, or any damn thing until the next key frame and then continue like you give a damn about my viewing experience when you don't have adequate data.

I feel like your attitude is "Boo hoo, the received broadcast isn't perfect, so I give the frick up!" FRICK YOU!

Your marketing is all about what new streaming channels you can shove down my throat. I have other FRICKING devices to do that!

I bought your product to record digital TV broadcasts and replay them like a fricking VCR. Do your FRICKING job and ALWAYS continue the playback as real time progresses!

It can't get better after it's recorded or received, so don't be the jerk who gives up makes me search through the Red Sox losing embarrassingly after I've already seen that FRICKING crap already!
