New FCC rules kicked in this week, and marketplaces now have to make sure anything with a radio in it is actually allowed to be sold in the US. So Swappa is closing listings that don’t make the cut, like old Huawei and ZTE phones, which the FCC no longer allows to be sold here.

If you’re selling a used iPhone, Pixel, or Galaxy, nothing changes for you.

Hello, I am looking for a recommendation on a legit website that you or somebody you know has used. I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max in perfect condition with 512 GB. I’ve only had it for five months on OfferUp and Facebook marketplace the most I’ve been able to get offered has been 600 when I check its value on online websites. I get 750. These are those mail in websites which makes me a little nervous as I don’t know if they are scams or real one of the ones I was checking out was. “Buyback surgeon”, “rake rock” and of course “Swappa” has anyone ever used these are these legit? I apologize if this is the incorrect group to post in I was unsure on where to post this and this was a recommended thread.

I bought an iphone recently from a 1st time seller. Everything in the listing looked good and I trust swappa's return process a lot. The phone was advertised in good condition.

So I get the phone, check the settings to see if the battery and screen match. Battery doesn't match -- was advertised at ~88%, actually around ~86%. Strange. But a bigger concern was that the phone reported the screen was replaced with a genuine screen.

I asked the seller about this. They mentioned that they do not remember swapping the screen, but if they did it would have been at an apple store.

This to me is a giant red flag. Much moreso than saying 'I forgot about that' even if they're lying. Who doesn't remember a $400 repair? By everything I can tell though, the screen does seem to be genuine and works fine, but I don't have another iphone of that gen to compare it with.

This on top of the fact it was a zero feedback seller is just making me so nervous to keep the phone.

Any advice? If I didn't get such a good deal on this phone (~$50 less than comparable phones on swappa) I think it'd already be sent back.

Has anyone had experience selling to a new account and their names don't match. I have a buyer that just opened their account a few hours ago and purchased the phone. Noticed the name for shipping doesn't match the one on the account. Tried sending a message about an hour after the sale to see if I'd get any engagement but nothing.

Hi all, this is my first time listing a phone on Swappa. Wanted to ask a couple questions. What shipping service does everyone recommend I use, and how much do you typically pay for shipping? Wondering if I have to go with a specific service or find something that has more insurance than the standard USPS $100. Secondly, is there any way a buyer can lie about the phone I send to try and get money back from me? Is there any protection for the seller?

Hi all, I sold an item this past Monday, shipped it out same day. Let the buyer know I shipped it out and put “signature required” in tracking notes. No repsonse, no big deal.

Item originally scheduled to be delivered on 9/24/26, but due to mechanical failure delayed to the next day. I message the buyer apologizing and letting him know I’d keep my eye on it. No response. Yesterday the 25th comes, UPS attempts delivery but are unsuccessful (maybe he wasn’t at home to sign, things happen). It gets delivered to an access point this morning, and I message the customer stating that his item is ready for pickup. The location is now closed, and reopens on Monday.

I have a feeling (though it’s pure speculation) that the customer had buyer’s remorse and will let that package sit until UPS returns it back to me instead of accepting the package and then asking me after the fact for a return.

If that were to be the case, how would I handle the refund process? What fees (if any) can I deduct from the overall refund? Could I deduct shipping and PayPal processing fees or do I eat those? Again, I am just making sure I know how to handle it on my end in the event the customer never picks it up. His account was only a few days old and he has not responded to any of my messages.
