Moving Into Medical Supply Chain

Hi all, I’ve got about six years of direct transportation/logistics experience and probably another five years from previous jobs. I’m studying for my MPA with a certificate in healthcare management (anticipated graduation May 2027) and have my CPIM. I’m trying to pivot from transportation to a medical supply chain role but having trouble getting traction with my resume.

Does anyone in the medical supply chain field have advice for what sort of transferable skills I should emphasize or where I should shift my focus to overcome the lack of direct experience in healthcare? I’ve applied with hospitals, clinics, and manufacturers and the only hit I’ve gotten was with a strip mall kidney dialysis center

How to make more and grow as Purchasing Clerk

So I graduated college in 2024 with a supply chain degree. Ive been at a home improvement company for 2 years now as a purchasing clerk. I make $26.5 hourly and I want to make more. I look at other jobs and apply but no luck. I want to have a buyer position I feel like mine sounds weak. Any tips on how to make more and grow in my career? My boss does talk about making me a purchasing manager next year. I do have wfh flexibility (1 day) which is a huge plus.

Procurement Professionals who can guide me on CIPS?

I’ve around 6.5y of experience in various industries and different roles for each, however more or less very relatable to procurement.

I’m thinking of pursuing L4 CIPS if that’s what helps me stay focused in a specific role, which also wouldn’t invalidate my experiences.

I’m currently speaking to a center who provides materials, coaching and job portal access; but I’m not sure if it’s worth it? If it’s a scam?

Any procurement professionals (preferably based in the UAE) who can help me out with guidance? Merci! :)

Should I take a $75k supply chain job even though I’m underqualified?

I’m recently (may) graduated with a Supply Chain Management degree and currently make around $20/hour working in warehouse operations and logistics. I’ve been learning a lot, and my coworkers are great honestly I love the job, but since it’s low pay I’ve been exploring other options.

Recently, I interviewed with a small oil and gas company that recently moved its headquarters to the US. They have around 10 employees and are looking for someone to essentially manage their supply chain as a Supply Chain Specialist, starting at $75k.

The interview went well, and I think I have a good shot at getting an offer. However, I only have warehouse internship experience and about two months of logistics experience. I’m familiar with SAP but definitely not an expert yet.

The job is about 2.5 hours away, so I’d have to move out and get an apartment. I’m excited about the opportunity, but I’m worried I might be in over my head, especially since it sounds like they need someone to fill some big shoes with limited support.

Would you take the risk for the salary and career growth, or stay at a comfortable job where you can keep learning? I’d appreciate any advice from people who have been in a similar situation.

Supply Chain side gigs?

Hi all, I hope you are all having a great week. I’m hoping some of you might be willing to share insight into your side gigs/hustles to get some extra cash per month. I know, I know…. There are a lot of pages on Reddit with side hustles listed, but I’m hoping for something supply chain related if possible!

I’m currently working as an Sr Inventory Management Planner and make fairly good money, but my wife we I really want to build a new house in the next couple years. I want something to do at my own pace, a few hours per week (if possible) to get a bit of extra cash for savings.

I”m not sure if it’s possible, but have any of you secured extra work like this? Perhaps you put in 5-10 hours per week on little tedious jobs? Helping someone with inventory? Assisting with paperwork/etc?

Thanks so much ,

Career Development Can my career develop in supply chain with a metals trader entry level role?

I’m a senior graduating this spring with a supply chain degree. I currently work part time at a 3PL in truckload, mostly dealing with drayage, so I’ll graduate with about a year of experience. I like the company and the people, but from what I’ve heard, full-time pay and opportunities to move up are pretty limited.

I’ve got 3 solidified second round interviews for logistics roles in the city I want to move too, but I also landed a final interview for a metals commodity trader development program. This is a fortune 150 company.

It’s described as a commercial supply chain role, though it definitely seems sales-heavy. The circular supply chain side of it sounds really interesting, the company seems to have a good reputation, and the starting pay is much better than most entry-level logistic roles I’ve been looking at and receiving interviews from.

For anyone who’s worked in metals trading or started in a similar program, what has your career looked like? Would this experience translate into procurement, sourcing, or other supply chain roles down the road, or would I mostly be setting myself up for a career in trading and sales? Feels like a crazy roll of the dice fresh post-grad

I’m still early in the process and don’t have an offer yet. Just trying to understand where this path could take me. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who’s done it.
