Im looking for advice about buying/making a pc. Is it better to buy prebuilt or build one yourself and how to go about it if the latter? My budgets around $2-2.5k for an entire setup

Hello there, I recently got a lil bit of money and I'm trying to buy a solid modern PC. I've wanted to upgrade my PC many times over the years but never got around to it and so I've had the same PC since 2016 (yes, that's about as bad as it sounds). I have a friend who knows way more than I do and he's been telling me to ideally get something with an RTX 5070, 32gb ram DDR5, and a Ryzen 7 7800x3d/9800x3d. I've been looking through so many different sites and everything that matches those specs seems to be more than $2k. The only thing I can find cheaper is this prebuilt from Best Buy.

https://www.bestbuy.com/product/lenovo-legion-tower-5-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d-32gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5070-1tb-ssd-eclipse-black/JJGSHGYZ32

I'm leaning towards getting this, but I'm a little worried that it might not be that good because I've been seeing stuff about the lack of upgradability. However, I'm also worried this deal won't stick around and I'll wait too long and might not be able to get anything new at that point. So, can anyone please let me know 1. if this is a good deal that I should just take right now or 2. are there any sort of deals that have similar specs for less than $2k that I might have missed?

Also, I'd be happy to hear about any alternative hardware, if there's something that can do the same job as those specs I listed that might also be cheaper, I'm open to hearing about that. Thanks.

Hey guys,
I’m looking to get into PC gaming, but honestly, I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to choosing a computer lol.
I’ve always played on consoles and my MacBook. I’m pretty casual when it comes to gaming, and I don’t play a ton of different games.

RuneScape has always been my main game, and I tried WoW years ago. I’d like to get more into MMOs and maybe try some other games down the road.

My budget is around **$1,500 for just the desktop**, and I’m looking for something decent that will last me a few years. I’m not trying to play every high-end game on ultra settings or anything like that. I just want a solid PC that can run MMOs smoothly with good graphics.

I’ve been looking at prebuilts because I honestly wouldn’t know where to start with building my own PC. I’ve seen a bunch of different CPUs and graphics cards, but I have no idea what’s actually worth the money.

What would you guys recommend for my budget? Are there any prebuilts you’d suggest, or specific specs I should be looking for?

Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all, hope this is OK to post. It might be time to replace my PC (of course, in a terrible market). Currently looking at prebuilts, and this one came up https://www.walmart.com/ip/CyberPowerPC-Gamer-Supreme-Gaming-PC-AMD-Ryzen-9-9900X-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-5060-Ti-16GB-32GB-DDR5-2TB-SSD-SLCAI10200CPG/16143614810?classType=REGULAR&from=/search

Since this from walmart, I'm a bit skeptical. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Im looking for Help in finding as good of a Parts to Price value pre built PC for a 5090. Setup. Ideally Intel 285k As well. The rest is stuff i have no idea about not enough to give viable input on. so i figure id take it from the more educated individuals on this subject.

hello! i am pretty much computer illiterate so please help give me suggestions for a desktop! my hp all in one from 2019 finally gave up on me. i am very against another all in one because that one was awful :)
i need to be able to use the computer for work and web browsing but that’s pretty much it. as long as it comes with windows 11 and can handle running word, teams, and a few web pages at the same time without being super slow, that’s enough for me. budget is about $600, not including monitors or anything else. i know this is limiting but i have to stay in my budget. so far i’ve looked into a Lenovo mini or an Acer Aspire, both with 16GB RAM & 512 GB SSD. thank you for reading & please help me ;-;

My husband and I are looking for a PC that can work for both of us. He’ll be using it to run his DJ software and play games like Fallout (with mods), and I’ll be playing things like Dressmaker and Tiny Glade. There’s one at Costco right now that I’ve been eyeing but I want to make sure it can do the things we need it to! Thanks!

So I’m looking to get back into play sims 4 and Minecraft, since my last laptop broke. I’m not a hardcore gamer so I want to get a desktop PC or a laptop that’s not that expensive. I’m not too bothered about downloading a crazy amount of custom content, I just want a PC that will support the base game and my expansion packs.

I was looking at the VenoScorp PC bundles as a budget way to have a set up. I was looking at the bundles under £400. As I know I can make upgrades down the line. But I’m not sure if these are good quality.

Please help

Ive been looking for a PC under around 2k that can run games like minecraft cyberpunk persona etc. I dont really know a whole lot about PCs and im wondering if I should build or buy pre-built

Hi, looking for my first actual gaming PC. I usually play on PlayStation so PC gaming is still pretty new to me. My budget is up to $1000 so I'm not looking for anything high end. I am okay with a refurbished pc as well.

I mostly will be playing older games with mods like stardew, Skyrim, fallout and maybe a newer game here and there. As long as it can handle that with decent graphics is my main concern.

I am located in the U.S., specifically Ohio if there are any smaller stores you want to recommend from.

Thanks :)

Hi all,

I currently have a i7-7700k with a GTX 1080, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD. This machine was gifted to me from a coworker who upgraded their machine. It has worked fine running getting back into WoW classic this past year; however, I am looking for recommendations for an upgrade that would allow me to run WoW Forever on max settings.

There’s so much info online and I’ve recently gone down a rabbit hole of CPU vs GPU bottlenecks. A few additional comments…

1. I only need 1TB SSD as all AAA games are played on XSX or PS5 Pro.

2. I have been eyeing a 5070 or 5070ti but is this overkill? Would a 5060ti work?

3. As far as CPU the options are endless. So much talk about CPU vs GPU dependence for WoW. I’m really trying to keep it at or below $2500.

4. I have an Acer Predator 4k monitor.

5. No micro-centers near me.

I just need someone to give it to me straight if a 5070 will be fine or if the jump to 5070ti is worth it haha. There’s some decent deals at 5070 but once I jump everything really increases.

Thanks for your time and help.

I’ve been wanting a pc for years now but I don’t really know what to get, prebuilt or spend hours learning how to build. I also want to know what kind of pc to get in terms of graphics and all that jazz. I mainly want to use a pc for story games that require pretty good graphics like tlou and rdr2. Any advice would be amazing! I know literally nothing lol…

Hi everyone,

I'm considering buying an Aftershock desktop PC and monitor package for S$1,914 and would appreciate some feedback before I pull the trigger.

Could you help me determine:

• Whether the overall build is worth the price
• If any components are overkill or underpowered
• Whether there are better value configurations at a similar budget
• If there are better PC and monitor combinations from other brands or system integrators

My primary use case right now is gaming. The highest graphics game I am currently playing is most likely overwatch.

I'll include the full specs below. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,

I am looking for a computer that will run Sims 4 - slight mods - reliably without costing an arm and a leg. I’m not computer savvy enough to know exactly what I need to look for. Even having the list of requirements, I’m not sure if what I’m looking at is better or worse than what’s listed. I’m in the United States and I’m trying not to spend more than around $600. I tried a mini desktop from Amazon that just overheated and crashed the game every 30-45 minutes. I was told the small size was part of the problem and I think something about the graphics card - link attached. I returned it and am back out on the prowl.

Thanks for any and all help!

I'm finally looking to get my first proper gaming PC, but building one myself isn't really something I want to deal with right now.

Mostly aiming for smooth 1440p gaming. I don't need crazy RGB or the absolute highest FPS, just something with decent cooling, reliable parts, and room to upgrade later.

What's the best prebuilt gaming PC you'd recommend for that? Any brands or models I should avoid?

I'm currently running this setup (some very old parts). Does it make sense to start fresh with a prebuilt or just upgrade certain parts?
