It’s not a war though remember. It’s a confrontation inside the administration but outside it’s a damn war. They call it a war too. Congress just won’t do anything about it because they don’t need to.
If Congress fails to follow through with their own mandate what can you do to make them other then waiting the years it will be till you can vote, while they change the rules of voting to protect their own power. Seriously what? Oh nothing in the constitution that does anything. Nope. Waiting years and voting is you only recourse because the framers never thought a man without honor would be placed in a position of power. It's been far to long since that document was updated to deal with today. They knew they didn't have all the answers. And left a way to fix it. Fun fact last amendment, the 27th. Ratified in 1992 started that process in 1789. It changed the rules on how Congress can change its own pay. In 1992 it finally hit the required number of states to ratify. The 26th? 1971. 55 years since a modern amendment was ratified. That changed the voting age from 21 to 18.
We need a 28th. The US Govt modernization act. Adding additional rules and stipulations. Requirements with automatic penalties for failure to adhere to mandates of the role of govt. Actual penalities for rules the Constitution has no penalties for because the framers thought we said no that should be enough. Auditing and public accounting for public office. Don't want your books exposed to everyone? Don't run. Your a public servant with power we have a right to know who you are beholden to as it should only be to the people. Limits to how much a campaign can spend. Which should be the lowest amount any candidate has. Canidaite A has 7 million. Candidate B has 600k. Only 600k can be spent. If they get another 200k then the A can add additional money. With additional rules and safeguards to prevent bad faith end runs around the rules. That should be looked apon as disgusting and a major defect if you can't stand tall and win fairly. This would be the tip of the iceberg that is the massive update that the US needs to move into the 21st century and safeguard from bad actors taking over key spots. I'd even be fine with the speaker and the president can't be from the same party. And no more send a email and a bill is forever blocked in the Senate. You wanna fillibuster? Get your ass on the floor of the senate and start talking. More mixing of people in branches. The opposition party gets to name half the cabinet. Positions drawn from a hat. Non partisan 3rd party oversight by forensic accountants over elected officials to watch for bribery or rule breaking with the power to remove and require new elections for that spot. The idea that this is a civil SERVANT job. It should be long and tiring and poorly paying. 0 people should leave with more money then you came into with. You should show up, do your service then leave and go back to help do good things with the experience you learned. The best and the brightest should fight to do it. It should carry great respect. It shouldn't be seen as a way to get rich.
