Dear Stowe,
Congratulations. You’ve survived another weekend of peak foliage season.
Your roads became parking lots.
Your sidewalks became photography studios.
Somewhere on the Mountain Road, a local resident aged approximately seven years while attempting to make a left turn.
To the tourists, welcome! Seriously. We love that you come here. You support our restaurants, shops, hotels, and local businesses.
But we need to discuss a few things.
A red maple tree does not require an emergency stop.
A covered bridge is not a substitute for a parking space.
Yes, the mountains are beautiful. They’ll still be there after you pull over somewhere safe.
To the locals who successfully made it to the grocery store and back this weekend, congratulations. You’ve earned a medal.
To the businesses that survived the madness, enjoy the revenue. You’ve earned that, too.
And to the people still sitting in traffic on Mountain Road…
We’ll send snacks. 😂
Hang in there, Stowe.
The leaves are falling, the traffic will eventually clear, and before we know it, we’ll be doing this all over again with ski racks instead of cameras.
Sincerely,
Your neighbors down Route 100. 🍁
Stowe locals, what's the most ridiculous foliage-season traffic moment you've witnessed this year? 😂
