Living Here Church and State
Every single one of the churches that has a big “Vote Yes on 3” sign plunked down in front of them should be taxed. They wanna play at politics, then they should pay. Nearly every single one of them along Republic Road between Campbell and Scenic is displaying one.

Ask Springfield Local Beef
Lately the meat from the stores has not been great quality and it’s getting too expensive!!
I’m looking for local farmers that will sell either 1/2 or 1/4 of a cow! I also know we may need to look for a butcher to process it.
Any good recommendations??
Thanks!!

Living Here Is Bass Pro Distribution Center a good place to work?
Looking at potentially getting a job at the bass pro distribution center here in Springfield. I was wondering if anyone who works there or has in the past could tell me whether it's a good place to work. I know they did a big pay increase within the past few months and wanted to get a better picture of what it's like.

Living Here Thoughts go out to the accident in Oak Grove last night
Wife and I went out for ice cream and came back to our regular intersection in a huge kerfuffle involving massive crash and debris. I couldn’t tell who was hurt but the accident was nasty. Not sure how it went down but looked like a nasty fender crash sending a car into a pole. No damage to the pole from what I saw but the front end of the car was basically gone.

Ask Springfield Indoor Cricket Practice Space
I am trying to track down some indoor space around town where we can practice cricket over the winter.
We are not looking for anything fancy. An old warehouse, a large unused barn, or a large vacant commercial unit would be perfect. We just need enough overhead clearance to hang some practice netting and a relatively flat floor to roll out a carpet to simulate the center pitch.
Does anyone know of property owners with empty space they might be willing to lease out? We are happy to look outside the city limits if there is a good agricultural building sitting empty. Let me know if you have any leads or suggestions on where to look.
Also chime in if you're interested in a SGF cricket team.

Ask Springfield Home Sale Advice!
Springfield Home Sale Advice! 🏡
Hi all!
I’m selling a home for the first time and would love some honest feedback from local buyers.
It’s an older, updated home in Springfield, and I’m sharing some interior photos along with the details:
3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, approximately 1,730 sq ft.
Spacious kitchen and living room (my couch is HUGE) and a flexible bonus room with its own exterior entrance and closet. Great potential for a home office, guests, or multigenerational living. The primary bedroom has two standard sized closets and a 1/2 bathroom attached.
Large circular driveway with ample parking, but no garage.
Large exterior storage shed and fenced backyard with mature trees.
Roof and water heater replaced in 2022.
Located in northeast Springfield near Chestnut & 65.
We originally listed at $265K and recently reduced to $255K. We’ve been on the market for 11 days.
For anyone shopping in this price range:
Would the lack of a garage be a dealbreaker?
Does the price seem competitive for the size and features?
Is there anything about the home or listing that would
discourage you from scheduling a tour?
What is more valuable in this market: lower price or seller concessions?
I’m genuinely interested in local perspectives as we figure out our next steps. Thanks in advance!k

Ask Springfield Single working moms w/o a village - what resources are there for intermittent childcare?
SPS has a day off soon and I was just thinking how screwed I would be if i worked somewhere with an inflexible schedule, didn't have a village, etc.
What do you do if you have an inflexible schedule, no partner, no village, etc? I don't even know how you would go about hiring a safe babysitter for your kid for a random day they were off of school, and I don't know how most working moms can pay a sitter for a week for like fall break.
What options are there? What strategies do yall use?

Things To Do Wanting a new hobby
Hi! I have lived in Springfield my entire life but have generally been pretty intimidated with starting a new hobby or finding new people to hang with. I have varied interests. I’m 32, F, and a biologist. I am married and we enjoy similar things as well. If you have any good recommendations or know of any groups I could join, I am really just wanted to feel more comfy getting involved. My anxiety has been high recently so I feel like a hobby will help with my mental, too!
Some things I enjoy:
- walking
- hiking
- boxing (tried once and loved it but am intimidated so if you have good gym recs, I’d love that)
- being outside in general
- painting (I’m not good at it though, just enjoy it)
- reading (I’d love a book club)
- yoga (did this for two years but hot yoga was hard on my blood pressure - too low)
- have thought about a pole dancing or regular dance class
- love music but don’t play any instruments
- foreign language??
- birding
TIA!!
