It is that time again for an open thread for anything and everything Springfield.
Got something on your chest? Had a good experience you want to share? Maybe you just want to ask about the best tacos in town or tell us something funny you noticed this week.
This is the place for it. Rants, raves, questions, or just plain small talk. Let’s hear it.

We had a great time at our first set of meetups. We shared a few drinks and proved that local redditors look suspiciously normal in real life.
A lot of folks mentioned missing the first couple. We are making this a regular event so you have more chances to join us. We will meet on the fourth Saturday of every month at Mother's Brewing Company.
Families are welcome! Mother's has a great backyard setup. There is a playground and plenty of room for kids to run around, so feel free to bring the family.
The Logistics
What to Expect This is casual and low-pressure. There is no agenda. Drop in, grab a drink, and meet some neighbors. You can stay for ten minutes or hang out all evening.
House Rules
Comment below if you plan to stop by so we can get a rough headcount.

Our moped was stolen out of our driveway last night between 8pm and 8am. If anyone sees this bike pls DM me as this bike is a lifeline for our family and desperately needed.

Every single one of the churches that has a big “Vote Yes on 3” sign plunked down in front of them should be taxed. They wanna play at politics, then they should pay. Nearly every single one of them along Republic Road between Campbell and Scenic is displaying one.

Are there any parenting classes for people that have children older than newborns? Like school aged kids? Looking for resources on being a better parent, and this is one of many options I'm hoping to be able to utilize to meet my goal.

Just now down N Glenstone SPD blocked traffic for 4 charter busses to come through, each with several police escorts. Anyone know what’s up or who’s in town?

SPS has a day off soon and I was just thinking how screwed I would be if i worked somewhere with an inflexible schedule, didn't have a village, etc.
What do you do if you have an inflexible schedule, no partner, no village, etc? I don't even know how you would go about hiring a safe babysitter for your kid for a random day they were off of school, and I don't know how most working moms can pay a sitter for a week for like fall break.
What options are there? What strategies do yall use?

Hi! I have lived in Springfield my entire life but have generally been pretty intimidated with starting a new hobby or finding new people to hang with. I have varied interests. I’m 32, F, and a biologist. I am married and we enjoy similar things as well. If you have any good recommendations or know of any groups I could join, I am really just wanted to feel more comfy getting involved. My anxiety has been high recently so I feel like a hobby will help with my mental, too!
Some things I enjoy:
- walking
- hiking
- boxing (tried once and loved it but am intimidated so if you have good gym recs, I’d love that)
- being outside in general
- painting (I’m not good at it though, just enjoy it)
- reading (I’d love a book club)
- yoga (did this for two years but hot yoga was hard on my blood pressure - too low)
- have thought about a pole dancing or regular dance class
- love music but don’t play any instruments
- foreign language??
- birding
TIA!!

It looks like some one printed out "blows Trump" on a home printer and put them on Eric's sign.

Does anyone have recommendations for local bridal gown dry cleaning (and estimate of cost if possible). Its not a vintage gown and I'm not wanting preservation, just wanting it cleaned

Just a short rant about the most current commercial for Roof One. The commercial shows several guys catching and throwing a football, when one catches it they say their name and a (Christian) church.
As a potential customer, I really think this is tacky. The church you attend or belief you follow should not be used as a benefit or invitation to doing business with a them.
Maybe someone with knowledge about the focus behind the commercial can enlighten us.

I'm in the market for my first tattoo. Are any local shops or artists doing flash sales for Halloween? Also, if you just have a great artist rec, lay it on me. I have 2 or 3 ideas, but I want something small for my first go.
Thank you!

Looking for options/opinions for some place with good take out coleslaw. Reason why is mother has early indications of Alzheimer’s and likes to have certain foods together. So like wings and coleslaw. Looking for someplace I can grab a large side of coleslaw that tastes good. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello, all! As alluded to by the title of this post, I have been considering working on a community resource that compiles as many of the community organizations, clubs, etc. as well as their meeting times, where they meet, and what they do, into a single place as possible. This is something I have been wanting to pursue for some time now, as in my view, a consistent issue plaguing our community is poor communication.
Simply put, many of the existing clubs and organizations in town either don’t have a place to post this information, or decide to do so exclusively on Facebook. This results in twin problems: people younger than forty feeling like there’s nothing to do in town, and the few people running clubs wondering why their meetings are so sparsely attended. I think creating a consolidated space (probably a website with linked social media pages, but my pie-in-the-sky dream is to do a print magazine at some point) dedicated to providing city-wide community/club information could help solve both of these issues.
Would y’all have any interest in something like this? Also, if you have any community org or club you’d like to shout-out feel free to use this space to do so!

Looking for friends who don’t ghost in a week! I’ve done this before but never really had any luck. I’ve lived here for about 2 months. I moved here from Central Pennsylvania. I like chill vibes but I’m also outgoing too, once you get to know me. I enjoy reading, listening to music, going for walks, gaming, going for drives, and trying new things. Oh! I also love watching true crime documentaries and police bodycam videos.
I just wanna meet some people I can chill with, grab coffee or a drink, and talk about everything or nothing at all. Not a big party person, but I won’t say no to a Halloween or Christmas party. I don’t know very much around here, so it’d be nice to have people to show me around! If you wanna be friends, please lmk!

Where do you go to sell vintage clothes, books, decor, etc? Shops, individuals who sell for you, etc?
I don’t have the option to list and sell individually on marketplace right now. I just want some cool old stuff to have a home with someone who appreciates them :)

Why is Gillioz not pronounced like it is spelled, or spelled like it is pronounced? I find it all very annoying.
