As of March 2026, even the use of Roam and Priority Starlink plans is capped at 100 mph.

If you need to go faster, the Starlink aviation license will support it, but that costs a lot more.

Yeah, that process started during the Crimean peninsula incident, which lead to congressional hearings due to misreporting in the media (Starlink was never activated in Crimea prior to the event). After the hearings, the DOD signed contracts that handed off control to the DOD for that specific region. Mass media missed that several times already as well. The usage of Starlink by the Russians in later years was often reported as if SpaceX had authorized access, when Ukraine had outright stated they had requested the DOD activate coverage on the entire Crimean peninsula without any restrictions. The result was that anyone with a terminal, be it captured or bought and imported through a 3rd party suddenly had access if they were in Crimea, courtesy of the Ukrainian government.

Seen this from Roanoke, Va on October 13, at 6:42 a.m. Wondering where the bright trail tail goes. And if it’s the dragon being released.

_ _ _
SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida at 6:33 a.m. Carrying more than 6,300 pounds of supplies and hardware, bound for the International Space Station.

The SpaceX Dragon spacecraft will carry new scientific experiments, cargo, and the final pair of International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Arrays to the orbiting laboratory.
Dragon is scheduled to autonomously dock at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 15.

Launch from 750so miles away

SpaceX/Musk is also pro-Russia, so of course they want to minimize their usefulness to Ukraine.

That’s just the old S22 nose cone. It seems like it’s a pretty low fidelity mockup, and it’s also based off of extremely old hardware too.

I'm imagining that the next launch tower will be based on Lord Ganesha. That way there will be 2 arms to catch each rocket and an emergency trunk just in case, that can double as a water deluge source

There's a ton of disinformation going on about it for sure. This simplest is that while Starlink and Starshield are very similar systems, they are still two separate physical networks with two different owners. Both are constructed by SpaceX. Elon is a buddy of Trump, Trump is in a pissing match with Ukraine at the moment. I honestly think a bunch of this is Ukrainian misinformation to try and effect US elections. It's not a secret they aren't as happy with Trump as they were under Biden, especially with the oil deal with Russia.

As to why exactly it got throttled? Could have been an intentional decision from someone lower than Trump, maybe Hegseth OR Russia figured out a way to jam starlink.
