Sheriff Engram is under no legal obligation to cooperate with ICE, yet he invites them here upwards of 65 times a year - Sonoma County is currently an ally to ICE. As the Trump admin launches "Operation Safe California", ICE's presence and aggression will only increase. This election, we have the opportunity to fight back.
Four out of five supervisors are beholden to lobbyist Muelrath, who has deep ties to big business and the Sheriff's department; it's no surprise they refuse to stand up to him. Chris Coursey is the lone progressive on the board who has committed to a Sanctuary Ordinance. In both supervisor elections this year (District 2, District 4) we have the opportunity to elect progressive candidates Joanna Paun and Melanie Bagby who are staunchly committed to ending all collaboration with ICE, meaning if both win we will have a 3/5 progressive majority on the board of supervisors.
We have the opportunity to turn the board progressive for the first time in 50 years. If you live in District 2 or 4 (Petaluma, Cotati, Rohnert Park | Northwestern Santa Rosa and up), please vote for progressives Joanna Paun and Melanie Bagby. I cannot overstate how critical this election is in freeing Sonoma County from its establishment chains and letting it thrive.
We want leaders beholden to the people - the workers of Sonoma County, not the elite. Not the PACs spending billions to prevent rent control, not the PACs lobbying to continue pouring refuse chemicals and fertilizer in our water supply because "handling them appropriately would raise operating expenses". Not PG&E sharing dividends with its shareholders while simultaneously saying "we can't afford to support the burn victims from the fire we caused in Santa Rosa".
Vote grassroots, and let's take back our county from the clutches of big business. It's gonna be close - your vote holds incredible value this election and will make a difference.
District 2: Joanna Paun - Anti-ICE, Anti-Flock, Anti-AI, Grassroots, Union-backed
District 4: Melanie Bagby - Anti-ICE, Anti-Flock, AI-Cautious, Grassroots, Union-backed
