Just a fun Soldering Post =) Controller joystick repair!
galleryStick drift is a bummer. I go TMR sticks and after a long while, was able to successfully install them! Appreciate any criticism to improve, thank you.

Hello all
A family members disk drive stopped working after a shop fixed an overheating issue. I thought that maybe it was just a connector they forgot to plug in but it seems the connector on the motherboard was ripped off.
Am I able to solder this back in somehow? It seems the part that holds the connector to the board is stuck on the connector too.
(I did tell my aunt to take it back since there should be a warranty on it but this is another part of the story I won’t get into lol)

Trying to learn how to solder. Are these good? I’m trying to learn for a project I want to make but don’t want to do work on the project till I understand what I’m doing.
Using 63/37 and iron is set to 343

Hi, I am trying to solder back a wire that has been torn off or just fell apart. It is some kind of heating element that is a part of cosmetics machine. The regular solder I use for electronics does not stick to the surface at all (you can see marks of flux from me trying). Is there some different kind of soldering of glueing method for this application? I have also attached photo of the second wire that is still on. Thank you.

I've been hot-swapping my T12 tip for a different one, but the right one broke, and the broken piece got stuck in the handle. It appears that unless I'm able to get the broken piece out, I'll have to buy both a new tip and the handle. Because all of these replacements are getting expensive, my question is: why did that happen? Is it because I've hot-swapping the tips, their quality, or is it just a thing that happens?

Hi it’s me again with that garbage solder yesterday. Today I bought a proper 110w soldering station and it’s much better. Rate my solder. I think it’s good but I’ll let the professionals of Reddit decide on it. (Don’t mind the very bad one in the back)

I have this adapter and the pcb I plan to solder to has 6 flat solder pads. There are no thru holes in the pcb for pin headers.
What is the easiest way to solder this adapter to a pcb by hand? I am not sure how to ensure soldering to the top holes will also connect to the solder pads under the adapter.
Edit:
See link for an example of what I want to replicate:
Maybe heat up the solder pad underneath each hole and press down on the micropcb adapter so the solder from each pad goes into the tiny holes?
Another idea I was thinking was thread some thin wires through each hole and solder each wire end to individual pads and then solder/trim other end wire to top of each hole.

The solder just beads up and falls off no matter what I do. Clean tip or not, new tip. Tried using a tip tinner, tried turning up and down the temperature. I’m very confused, feels like I’m missing a big step here or something.
It’s impossible to get the solder to bead up on a lead correctly because it just follows the tip as a bead until it doesn’t

Hi, I'm new to using smart soldering stations; I've always used regular soldering irons or digital triac soldering irons. According to my research, this brand and model offers good value for money.
My intention is to use it for THT components, in power supplies, household appliances, and cables.
Do you have any calibration and care recommendations for this particular station?
