Looking for footage or witnesses to a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred on 9/22/26 on Ventura Blvd & Carpenter Ave in Studio City
(BEFORE YOU READ, PLEASE NOTE: I have already shared this post in local subreddits like [r/studiocity](r/studiocity) and [r/northhollywood](r/northhollywood). Someone I know has already shared a similar post in [r/SFV](r/SFV), so Iām not posting there since the subreddit doesnāt allow reposts on the same topic within a 6-month time frame. Iām trying to post this in multiple subreddits across the greater LA/SoCal area in hopes that it reaches someone who was there at the time of the accident or has any information that can lead to IDing the other driver, since those who drove through the intersection at the time of the accident (including the suspect) or even the people who may possibly recognize the suspect based on the description of the vehicle might not necessarily live in or near Studio City. Itās been several weeks without any leads, so weāre desperately trying to leave no stone unturned).
On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at approximately 7:05 AM, my friend, Philip Chon, was riding his yellow 2019 Honda Monkey motorcycle on his way to work when he was struck and killed at the intersection of Ventura Blvd and Carpenter Ave, Studio City, CA.
The driver was in a dark blue 2004 Honda Odyssey traveling westbound on Ventura. They made an unprotected left turn onto Carpenter Ave, struck Philip, abandoned the van on Carpenter Ave south of Ventura (which investigators have impounded), and fled on foot.Ā
Below are links to news articles about this, as well as the community alert about the accident:
Despite being in possession of the suspectās vehicle, police have not publicly released the license plate number or identified who the vehicle is registered. They are, however, seeking the publicās help with identifying the suspect responsible for this fatal accident (knowing who the vehicle is registered to doesnāt necessarily prove that they were the one driving it; police need actual evidence of the person behind the wheel).
If you live, work, or drive along Ventura Blvd, Carpenter Ave, or surrounding streets/access points, please check your Ring cameras, home or business security cameras, and dashcams for footage from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM on September 22.
Footage of the van before the collision or someone fleeing on foot afterward could help. Even if you don't think your video has anything important in it.
Some camera systems automatically delete old recordings, so please save anything relevant in case it gets overwritten.
If you have footage or information, please contact:

Culver City, California could become the 16th municipality to allow 16-year-olds to vote in local or school board elections
news.ballotpedia.orgPLEASE VOTE ASAP. Yesterday the regime gave CA 48 hours to certify a list of people that it ābelieves are likely noncitizens". Those on the list are not to receive ballots. If their ballots have already been returned then those ballots are not to be counted.

I feel as though he has taken full advantage of the people of California. A political race is about discussion of ideas and policies.

What's your go-to spot when you need to recharge?
Iām usually the person who makes all the arrangements when I travel with my friends. You know, hotel rooms, where we're going to eat, and so on. Traveling is kind of my forte, but I think this time I just want to relax and enjoy the trip without planning the entire thing. I've got a day off coming up, and I think I'm going to splurge on a short, luxurious getaway.
I want to stay at a hotel with a nice spa, good restaurants, and several activities to keep me from getting bored and roaming around. I would like to stay somewhere around IE, but Iām also fine with a short drive. Anyone know a nice place thatās relaxing and worth the money?

Where do local singers in the Inland Empire connect with other musicians?
Iām curious about the local music scene here in Southern California, particularly around the Inland Empire, Riverside, and Perris.
For singers and musicians in the area, where do you usually meet other people who share your musical interests? Are there local music communities, open mics, or events where people connect and collaborate?
Iām especially interested in pop, R&B, vocal harmonies, and live performance.
Iād appreciate any suggestions for getting more involved in the local music scene!

I built a free site that looks up any California address's fire hazard zone, power line fire risk, wildfire history and insurance costs
After the LA fires last year, I kept seeing people ask the same questions: Is my house in a high fire hazard zone? Are the power lines near me considered high risk? Has my area burned before? Why is my insurance so expensive?
The state actually publishes the answers, but they're spread across different agency viewers and shapefile downloads that are hard to use unless you already know what you're looking for. So I put them in one place: firezones.info (https://www.firezones.info)
Type in any California address (about 13.5 million are covered) or use your location, and you get a report with:
- Fire hazard severity zone (CAL FIRE): affects brush clearance rules, building requirements and what sellers have to disclose
- Power line fire risk (CPUC High Fire-Threat District): where utilities have to follow stricter fire rules and where power shutoffs are most likely
- Wildfire history (CAL FIRE): whether the spot has burned, or how close the nearest recorded fire came, going back to 1878
- Home insurance cost (California Department of Insurance): what homeowners in that ZIP code pay compared with the state average
The first three also have their own maps, so you can see how the boundaries run around your neighborhood.
It's free, with no account, no ads and no limit on lookups. All the data comes unchanged from the state agencies, and the Methodology page explains where everything comes from. It's not an official source, so if something really matters, like a home purchase, check it against the original data.
I built this as an independent public service and am not affiliated with any agency. If something looks wrong where you live, or there's something you'd like it to show, let me know in the comments or through the contact page on the site.
