Request Must Play Obscured Games on SNES
I'm searching for hidden gems. All of the lists are about the most popular games on the console. I've played and beat most of them already. Could you guys suggest such games?

Hi everyone! A few days ago I posted about Terranigma, and today I wanted to share another SNES game I played during my childhood that holds a special place in my gamer heart: Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals.
It's a game I really love (though not quite as much as Terranigma), but it's still an absolute classic with tons of content, a great story, incredible characters and a massive world for its time. One of the things I remember most are the dungeons, which feature really clever puzzles. I clearly recall getting stuck for hours trying to figure out how to solve a room just to move forward.
The combat is a classic turn-based system with plenty of depth and strategy, though random encounters can feel a bit repetitive at times. It also features a really cool Capsule Monster system, which acts as a companion assisting you in battle.
The soundtrack is super enjoyable, and what I remember most vividly is that place called the Ancient Cave... MAN, what a brutal grind that was!
It’s definitely a gem from that era. If you haven't played it yet, give it a shot—it's totally worth it. Plus, a port for modern consoles and Steam was recently announced for next year
Anyone else who played this and remembers it fondly?
This one introduced the Master Sword, the hook shot, dungeon progression items and heart containers Do you guys remember this one?

Hey everyone! I just bought an SNES. I’ve always loved playing the games on an emulator, so I decided to actually get the console!
I have a few questions though. The shell has yellowed quite a bit, so I was thinking about doing a complete reshell. There are a bunch of options online so I was wondering if there’s a trusted source that generally makes good-quality shells.
Also, is there anything I should replace due to the console’s age? I wouldn’t want it to randomly die on me because I neglected to replace something that was bound to fail.
Lastly, is there a website that people generally prefer buying games from?
Thanks in advance!
I have a pal snes and i upgraded it with a pico cic to also be able to play japanese games. When i now put in super mario world it makes the screen bigger from 240p to 288p when i switch to the 60hz mode
Is that correct? Will that be like an upgrade to the super mario world or will the timing of the game be now off?

Haven’t repaired any snes before but have done many other systems. This system passed burn in but it looks like it has failing PPU. Do these glitches look like 1 or 2 is going bad? Should I even bother recapping? Doesn’t look like any obvious corrosion, pretty clean system overall. Sound is good too. Already cleaned cart slot. Just looking for someone with experience to point me to the most probable chip/s I need to swap.

Some of you might remember us from the NintendoAge forums. I'm lerugray, and I write the software; Taco! runs the hardware bench.
Our project is SuperOS. It boots a SNES to a mouse-driven command shell. You can type commands, write files to the cart's 32 KiB of SRAM and find them still there after a power cycle, and launch native apps from a Windows 3.x style launcher. It supports the SNES Mouse and an optional keyboard on the controller port, and it plays tracker music. One app is a textured raycaster that runs at about 10 Hz in emulation. A low-fantasy 4X strategy game is in build as the flagship.
It runs on emulators, and an early build has booted on a real SNES from a flash cart.
SuperOS is written in native 65816. It's designed and directed by me (Ray Weiss); much of the code is written with AI coding tools, and every change is reviewed and tested before it ships.
If you'd want a cart, the interest list at super-os.net is free and nonbinding.
Edit: forgot to mention, the cart we're designing has an SD card slot for storage and a USB-C keyboard port. The 32 KiB above is the cart's save memory.

Was wondering what this hut is supposed to be. I searched for a secret exit in the Lair of Kharyon, but couldn't find one.
Does anyone know?
Saved this lovely from a thrift store and had to detail it when I got home. So precious….

Hello everyone!
In some snes console units, the combination of hot temperatures + some specifics plastic shell revisions, provides a favorable scenario for yellowing.
I've customized this yellowed unit with automotive inks for the console and buttons, fovusing on matching the original colors and also provided the stickers on the Brazilian exclusivelly Playtronic variation.
I enjoyed the final result and would like to share with the community.
Scored this bundle at the thrift store today for $40, super stoked! The better-looking console works, the other one turns on but doesn't output anything. To my surprise everything else works, and the manuals for some of the games being included is pretty cool too.

Between the obvious hot shot and the twins trying to sabotage him. Idk
This has been a favorite SNES game of mine for 30 years. I've searched for years for ROM hacks and editing tools, but could never really find what I was looking for. So I decided to put together my own editor.
The editor allows you to modify all 25 original ships and add up to 5 additional custom ships to the game.
You can change ship names, sailing stats, hull strength, crew and gun limits, and prices. You can also choose which ports build them and the industry requirements needed to unlock them.
It's still in beta, and I'm sure there's more work to be done, but I've made the source code and Windows executable available on GitHub.
https://github.com/erich121/uncharted-waters-new-horizons-editor
I plan to keep expanding the editor to allow modifications to other parts of the game including allowing the control of all your own ships when in battle. I felt that was a huge limiting factor of the game is that you could have 10 ships but only control 1. I've got some more issues to work out but I think I can have that done soon.
If anyone still plays New Horizons, I'd be interested in hearing what other things you'd like to be able to change.

Am I missing something? I've seen these 2 listings for PAL versions of super mario RPG and Chrono Trigger but I thought these two games weren't released in PAL regions?

I got this from a coworker who picked it up for me at a Nintendo Gashapon in the Narita Airport in Japan.
I decided I wanted to put it on a zipper on my backpack but was worried that the flimsy ball chain would break. So I added a few jump rings and a swivel.
I’m really happy with the end result.

In 1994 the majors had 28 teams. Now they have 30, so I made a free fan patch that brings Griffey up to today's majors while keeping the game as it was. Version 2.0 just came out. Here's what's in it:
All 30 clubs
- The Diamondbacks and Rays are fully playable, alongside every other club with its modern name, logo and current ballpark.
- 2026 rosters: 750 real players, rated from their stats and matched to their real-life looks.
- Houston is in the AL and Milwaukee in the NL, with the designated-hitter rule.
Three versions of every club
Press SELECT on team select to switch a club between:
- 2026: today's club
- ORIGINAL: the club exactly as it shipped on the cartridge, made-up players and all.
- 1994: the real 1994 season, right up to the strike. Griffey's Mariners at the Kingdome, Bagwell's Astros and the Expos at Olympic Stadium.
Arizona and Tampa Bay get their first seasons instead: the 1998 Diamondbacks and Devil Rays. You can mix eras any way you like, like today's Rays at the '94 Expos.
Season mode for all 30 clubs
Today's divisions, new schedules, standings, the calendar and the playoffs, through the World Series.
New in 2.0: Franchise mode
- ALL-STAR on the menu is now FRANCHISE (the Home Run Derby is still there). Play a season, and when the World Series ends, the off-season begins:
- Every player ages a year. Young players get better, stars peak in their late 20s, and veterans slow down.
- Veterans retire, and each club calls up its real prospects (300 of them, ten per club).
- The off-season report shows your club's retirements and call-ups, plus the champions of past seasons.
- Want to skip ahead? Hold SELECT and press A on Today's Game to sim your game. A short season takes a few minutes, so you can watch a decade go by in an evening.
- It all fits in the cartridge's original battery save.
How to play
It's a patch only, with no game data: you patch a dump of your own cartridge (USA Rev 1).
- Patch and instructions: https://daylayown.itch.io/ken-griffey-jr-presents-mlb-the-30-team-expansion
- Or play in your browser at https://griffey30.com: pick your own ROM file and it patches and runs it right there. It even has online two-player.
I made it with Claude Code and Claude Opus 5.5, which did the heavy lifting on the programming. Free, unofficial and never for sale. It's not affiliated with MLB, the MLBPA, Nintendo or Ken Griffey Jr.
If you play a franchise, I'd love to hear who wins your 2030 World Series. Trades and a 1994 start are what I'm thinking about next. What would you want?

The size of this box is weird, isn't it?
If this is all you've got, at least put some packing material in there!
The outside is a total mess!!

Few weeks ago, a resident left a TV behind. Usually just throw old junk away. This one piqued my interest. Took it home. Plugged my PS2 and it’s not old CRT Tv quality but it’s close and it doesn’t need a whole lot of space. Anyway I took out all my snes games and started playing. Just wanted to share in case anyone is looking for an old tv to play their old systems on. It’s a 19” Sony BRAVIA KDL-19M4000 made in 2008. It’s worth looking around for if you want a smaller compact tv to play old games in it. Some games are really hit or miss. The MK II game looks terrible for some reason. Others look beautiful. Wish I still had my old tube tv but this one is great!

haven’t thought about it for years and just randomly did, such a fun/cool game.

Retrospectives on Street Fighter 2 are always fun. Just figured I'd share this one as it was a nice trip down memory lane. It also covers the various ports to the SNES and (gasp) even the Genesis one too. I'm sure this sub will appreciate it.

Just got this in the mail. I swear there should be a large capacitor here.
