Anime Discussion “I miss naruto when it was just ninjas” is a stupid take

People blame shippuden and boruto for it

When it never was about normal ninjas

For fucks sake chap 1 literally begins with kurama goin crazy on konoha

The literal 2nd arc has kaiju boxing each other in bunta vs shukaku

Tsunade was making craters with punches

Gaara and kimi were making avalanches of sand and bone

Was the power creep crazy yes but dont act like it was grounded in the first place

unjerk (serious discussion) Naruto was cursed with the absolute worst fandom out of the big 3

The past few days has shown full force the complete stupidity of naruto fans, but I'd be lying if I said this wasnt common.

Within the bleach fandom the community is probably the least annoying out of the big 3. Anime discussion is enjoyable, the people actually understand their manga, and you can find really good analysis content for the series, especially with its villains. The one piece fandom revolutionized modern slander and some of the most memorable formats used today were popularized by that community, and even though some of them are in an author hate echo chamber theres still gems and very good theories that you can find on pmuch any platform.

You don't get any of that with naruto, this god awful fandom is permanently stuck in 2016 and its the worst shit ever. On twitter you have blue check accounts recycling the same exact tweets for years and most of the "discussion" on that platform is usually naruto and boruto fans going for round 400 of arguments. On reddit you have subreddits like dankruto that have been frozen in time and are painfully unfunny, the main naruto subreddit is pretty much 1:1 of twitter with recycled posts and boruto arguments, and the subreddit dedicated to boruto for whatever reason is just naruto fans there to hate on the series. The youtube scene might actually be the worst out of them all, the most notable naruto related video is made by a guy who says that he doesnt know much about naruto in the first 5 seconds, and they flock to the channels of idiots like dygoknight who for some reason think they can write the manga better than the creator. And have you noticed the common denominator yet? Its almost always about fucking boruto these people turn into literal cavemen anytime this series is brought up fans and haters alike

tldr: No good jokes because the fandom is stuck in the last decade, no good theorizing because half the fandom hates the sequel and are now deluding themselves into thinking its non canon, and a severe lack of in depth content about the series because everyone and their fucking mom thinks they know better than the author of the series

If you're a bleach or one piece fan, hell if you're a fan of any shonen cherish your community it can always be worse

Manga Discussion Actual question, what is the point of being frustrated that Luffy is a "chosen one" when he himself couldn't give 2 shits about it?

From my understanding, Luffy doesn't seem to care who tf joyboy or nika is and I don't think he ever will. Usually a chosen one is badly written or frustrating if they abuse the shit out of their destiny and don't actually earn anything for themselves. Luffy earned everything he's done. The fruit chose him for sure but it's not as if it gave him gear 5 right off the bat. It didn't suddenly make him pirate king or something.

I can't understand shonen fan's and their obsession with wanting some random regular run of the mil guy to be the protagonist. Luffy isn't bound by Destiny and never will be, he does shit because he wants to.

It's been awhile since I reread one piece so can someone remind me why Luffy's fruit being retconned was a problem in the first place?

Manga Discussion Difference between weekly youngvs weekly shounen jump

Thumbnail

It's been on my mind right now, what's the major difference between weekly shounen and weekly young jump?

Like don't get me wrong,I know atleast that it's related to the demographics of the audience itself but majorly I wanted to know like the MASSIVE art difference as well how the story just tends to never really fall off

For example I have took two manga's that have serialised in weekly young jump that being:-Usogui and Tokyo Ghoul(Didn't take kingdom cause I wanted to specially talk about art first)both manga arts were kinda meh or can say decent at first but the massive difference it in art in the later parts/arcs of the manga is genuinly insane as you can say,I compared this to Jjk and csm since the art is decent don't get me wrong but my god the art quality is so so fucking different between them despite being all four being weekly manga

Yea the story never seems to fall off for both tokyo ghoul and Usogui (for in case Usogui,it's just gets better and better,no backing down) while i see other shounen manga just seems to fall down at some part?I mean u already know the complaints in shounen manga's in this sub so yea

Lemme know what makes them so different, whether it being art quality, the story and else✌️

Manga Discussion Reminder that Naruto without the help of kishimito editor (yahagi) would turn into samurai 8

Post image
• Upvotes

without the editor (yahagi) , kishimito would've turn naruto into samurai 8

_____

Originally, Naruto was a story about a blonde boy with a fox spirit sealed within him who loved ramen and lived in a village with magical creatures and world filled with deadly monster (Akatsuki is supposed to be animal team ,not human)

Sasuke and Sakura, the Wave Country arc, the Chunin Exams, Sasuke Retrival arc , and many secondary characters like Lee, the Uchiha clan were Yahagi ideas

Yahagi was initially supposed to leave after the Tsunade arc. However, he decided to stay and guide Kishimoto until Itachi's death. Yahagi likely left the entire Pain arc concept ready for Kishimoto.

Edit 1 (copypaste from comments) :

im not saying Kishimoto sucks completly, but is obvious he has huge issues.

Samurai 8 , Naruto final arcs and Boruto (after part 1) showed with clear evidence, of how Naruto would have failed if Kishimoto didn't had Yahagi on his side, since those 2 mangas are initial ideas he wanted to make on Naruto, Naruto initially was about a world with Naruto riding a Bike, being a drunk Yokai who needed to prove his innocence since everyone thought he murder someone, sure, maybe the idea had potential, but Yahagi said no, and the idea of Naruto being about "ninjas" was from him.

Sarutobi was originally a Dog (kinda like the King of the World of Dragon Ball), Zabuza Saga, one of the best sagas in Naruto (and manga in general) would have ALOT of exposition (like Samurai 8), Haku would have been a Bear aswell , fuck the original idea of Naruto had ALOT of Furries, and thanks to Yahagi, we got a excellent initial arc.

Even important characters like Sasuke, wich in one point in the story was like the guy WAS the protagonist and not Naruto, that guy didn't existed in the start, Kakashi, the master alot of us we love, with his chilling personality and badass moments, and obviously a inspiration for others masters in Shonen like Gojo or Aizawa, that guy wasn't like that, it was more "ancient", more like the classic masters in the adventures of a heroe, with alot of experience but with not alot of patience.

Kishimoto had alot of original ideas, and hey, 80% of the work is from him, but after Yahagi leaved, everyone clearly showed the downgrade in the plot of Naruto, and after Samurai 8 and after Kishimoto returned to Boruto (not like Boruto was great before anyway), the evidence is more and more clear, someone needs to help Kishimoto when he is writing something.

And don't misunderstand me, Yahagi isn't like the master of writing or the best editor in the world, he helped Naruto alot, but he couldn't do the same for... Basically, any other manga he was involved, neither of this two are perfect, but this post is about how Kishimoto really needs help when he writes something, someone who can say "nah, i don't think this would work", because cleary, Samurai 8 and Boruto is about Kishimoto with other people who accepts his ideas because he is a "genius"

____

TLDR : yahagi isnt a genius and Kishimito isnt a bad writter ,but they need each other for success

just like how dan harmon and Justin roiland failed in their own shows after they split up , they were built for each other

Edit 2:

wait a minute , so basically kishimito and yahagi is parrarel to naruto and sasuke??? peak if true

Folk. No, Naruto fans Boruto isn’t getting retconned. How the HELL did they reach that conclusion?

Post image
7 Upvotes

I can’t believe my eyes. This is the state of my fandom. Naruto, I love you, thats my childhood manga, i’m so so sorry this is the fanbase you got….

“Manga thats set in blank period after the last and before boruto”

“So boruto is being retconned! kishimoto hates ikemoto and hates boruto and doesn’t wanna be associated with it! (Pulls an interview part out of context about kishimoto saying Boruto is truly ikemoto’s manga)” and then tens of thousands of people bought that BS.

First of all, Kishimoto in that same interview has shown that he deeply respects ikemoto as his friend and partner, and ALSO THAT HE STILL HAS THE AUTHORITY TO MAKE CHANGES TO DRAFTS IKEMOTO SHOWS HIM BEFORE ITS EVEN PUT INTO THE STORY. He also created an original template for ikemoto to follow and write himself. He’s not writing it, sure, but he’s involved, and he literally fucking said it. Hell, he WANTED ikemoto to make it because he wanted his friend to make a manga series, and if ikemoto rejected, boruto wouldn’t have been made. In this context, why the FUCK would Kishimoto do that to Ikemoto? Think about that, “I’m gonna make my friend work on a story for over ten years only for me to retcon it out of existence” you know how fucked that sounds right? Regardless if you hate or love boruto.

It takes literally a few minutes of research but I forgot this fanbase can’t think for themselves.

Idc about the Boruto slander, i’m more mad at the fact that the fanbase of my favorite manga are absolute morons and continue to impress me at how extremely gullible they can be. Mass delusion. And then they’ll go back to posting the same old corny memes from 10 years ago. Some are doing this for agenda, fairs but knowing Naruto fans track record of being some of, if not the most dumbest fanbase i’ve ever been in, i’m sure so many people bought it.

Also, those were out of context sketches? Ok, AT WORST maybe the inauguration is getting retconned but that has zero effect on the boruto manga. It’s probably gonna be a short story too like maybe 3-4 volumes anyways??

Jjk fans I’m so envious of you all, I wish my fanbase was as funny, creative, and not THAT stupid.

unjerk (serious discussion) Rate this roster for the next Weekly Shonen Jump crossover fighter I made (base game only)

Post image

Some comments on my choices:

-One priority I had was getting more female characters in. Obviously only so much you can do given the genre, but I looked for openings where I could even if it occasionally meant prioritizing relatively less popular characters (e.g. Nico Robin over Sanji & Usopp, Jolyne over other Jojo protags)

-I also weighted recurrence within one's series quite heavily. This is why Kuririn and Gohan replace Future Trunks and Cell from Jump Force, they simply have more to do across the totality of the original manga. Also why I picked Buggy over any other One Piece villain

-Demon Slayer and Bleach are the ones I'm the least familiar with. Feel free to suggest more characters for the former and as for the latter I just ctrl +c'd the 4 picked for Jump Force

-Speaking of which a good deal of choices were in response to Jump Force being unbelievably lame. Why did they nuke all the gag characters. Why was Deku the only base game MHA character. Why are Jotaro and Dio still the only Jojo guys. Why did they remove Raoh. Stupid-ass game

-The Rurouni Kenshin characters all died on the way back to their home planet

-Rapid fire off-the-cuff DLC ideas (Don't take all of these super seriously I didn't think em through that hard): Kid Goku, Cell, Sanji, Usopp, Pain, Yoruichi, Kakyoin, Speedwagon, Todoroki, All For One, Kurapika, Leorio, Eve, Mitsuko Yagyu, Fuusuke, Gintoki Sakata, Toriko, Toki, Brocken Jr., Buffaloman, Akuma Shogun, Beerus, Ultra Ego Vegeta, Boruto

The moment Denji tries to fuck Yoru, it's over. The shitstorm we're gonna witness, especially on Twitter, will be HISTORIC. Now add the ending to the mix, and Denji's and Chainsaw Man's reputations are going straight down the fucking drain. I have absolutely no doubt about it. You can screenshot this post and come back in 2040 to see how well it aged, just don't say you weren't warned...

I wholeheartedly feel like those takes are just A.I Generated.

Never have i seen a character not be cold since the late 90s/extremely early 20s and lose the fight propel glaze and still have this much Larpers.

And rightfully so because that masked bastard crashed their private birth after Kushina went into labor, strapped paper bombs on baby Naruto, and then unleashed the Nine Tails on the entire village.

He had to go…

Anime Discussion Is one piece still worth watching post Ts

I just made it to the FMI arc i don’t really like the humor of the strawhats post ts ontop of that I hear people say post Ts is a lot worse than pre Ts, i love one piece and it’s my favorite series due to the character development and world building and stuff, but I don’t know if I should continue post Ts if it only gets worse from here. Ive heard the majority say post Ts is slop and the writing is non existent. I really enjoyed pre ts one piece

Manga Discussion Was Bleach's reception after it ended genuine hate or just massive disappointment ?

Didn't intend for this to be long, lol, but was just something on my mind.

To me when I look at how Bleach ended given it's circumstances, I think that the reception it received after it ended was more in line with massive disappointment, than just out right hate from the jump. While many can agree that there were genuine haters for the series, given its mainstream popularity, fandom tribalism, and just general trolling; I do believe that many within the fan base at the time were really disappointed with how Bleach got to its ending. Characters fates being left up in the air, the final battle being underwhelming for many, the lore not being fleshed out enough, some characters not being given their proper time to shine, and etc. Yes, Kubo's health was a big factor, but it still didn't take away the disappointment.

Plus, I think that many fans at the time had other issues with the series before TYBW. TYBW only exasperated those issues even more, to the point where the fans just wanted to vent their frustrations. I typically believe that most grievances with a series start within the fan base, word begins to spread to the causal enjoyers, thus you have the perception that Bleach had/has. Also, given the fact that Bleach is part of the Big 3 didn't help matters at all. Super Eye Patch Wolf's video, while misguided and subjective, did influence some on Bleach negatively, but I do not believe it was the sole reason. Many people more than likely flocked to that video because it resonated with their frustrations at the time. This case is similar to the Plague of Grapes video on Naruto.

While defense of the series is justified TO AN EXTENT, I do believe that many fall into the misguided believe that Bleach was just blindly hated on from the beginning. Youtubers have been a big reason for this belief and I think it removes the realistic concept of what actually happened during that time. Which is why you hear alot of, "Oh you just don't understand the story", "Bleach is for high IQ people", or that "Bleach is soft Senin or should have been a Senin" now. These responses speak to some of the insecurity that alot of fans have.

This is not to bash Bleach or insult it. Bleach is great series with flaws just like the other Big 3, and I believe it is important to have proper perspective on situations.
