WTF. How are we just learning about this?

“The investigation did not find that Harpe violated Georgia’s law governing automated license plate readers. The disciplinary case instead centered on an SPD information-management policy prohibiting employees from allowing unauthorized people to access city or department software.”

“Harpe accepted responsibility for sharing her credentials but argued that firing her was excessive.”

Is the coroners office here that bad?

I apologize if any of my terminology is wrong, this is the first death I’ve dealt with. My lawyer and family friends are saying it’s a known thing that the coroner/office is really poorly managed here. My mom apparently died two weeks ago in her home and no one reached out to any family about it, we found out through a neighbor on Monday night and had to call the coroner for them to tell us it was true and it’s felt like pulling teeth trying to get anyone to tell me anything or even get the body identified and no one is answering the phone. Have other people experienced this? Does going to their office in person help? I’m studying at UGA right now and in the middle of midterms but I’ll come down and do whatever to get this sorted out, but right now it seems like no one is helping or providing any information at all.

Unitarian Universalism Church?

I was looking into different organizations around the city, and came across them. Im interested in joining!

What do they do? What do they preach? What are the sermons like? Are the people mostly young or old?

I'm not Christian, not conservative, and I'm trying to get away from the other religious dogma and have a more open group of people around me.

Apartment management corruption

I moved out of my apartment at basswood landings in July. I stupidly did not do the walk through as I had work and didn’t have time. But I left it in a clean manner with all walls, floors and surfaces (inside and out) clean. When I moved in there I needed to have pest control come out due to it having fleas (I don’t have pets) as well as me constantly complaining about it smelling of smoke.

I found out a month after moving I had a carpet change fee and this was only due to me accidentally signing onto the payment portal (automatic website pull up on iPhone when typing in words). They never sent me any mail or email or phoned to inform me of this. I called and apparently it had an odor. I told them I spoke to them about that for 2 years, with evidence of such and that it was due to my downstairs neighbour smoking. Something I didn’t find out until she moved out two months before me. The entire time I lived there I was gaslighted into believing I was smelling things.. I even had ozone done several times and then inspect it. Turns out I was right!

I sent numerous emails requesting proof of the carpet being changed as well as evidence from when I made complaints etc. I heard nothing back. I sent letters. Nothing. I then log on to see if the payment is still there and it shows it’s been sent to a debt collector. No letter or email from either of them. They want $1200 for a carpet. Or have said I can have it for $900 if I pay now.

Any help as to what the hell I should do now because I can’t afford this bill. I gave them all my details yet I received nothing.

In short don’t move there unless you want to receive a bill for something you don’t need. I did everything by the book. Looked after the apartment, made complaints about smells and was penalised for working. How do people who are deployed with the military or move abroad/out of town get treated.

Do you think the street sweepers see crazy stuff?

They are all over downtown in overnight hours. Do you think they see weird stuff?

This is just a fun post so if you’re not interested that’s fine.

Local musician here seeking other musicians who might be interested in starting a trip-hop project. Already have a vocalist, DJ, and guitarist. Seeking a bassist and drummer (unless someone works with drum machines), possibly a synth player? Feel free to DM me if interested!

Recommendations: Certified Home Inspector in Savannah, GA

Hi all,

I am looking for recommendations and first-hand experiences working with a Certified Home Inspector in Savannah. If there is someone you've hired personally or someone you've worked with that you would caution against, I would love to hear about it! Many thanks.

Art printing?

Is there any good local print shops? I’m looking to print some of my art. I used to go to creative approach but since they’re no longer, is there anything similar? I’m trying to avoid staples and fedex.

Metalworkers

I'm just starting to get into metalworking...welding in particular and had a couple of quick questions for anyone with local experience. I'd like to get a chunk of rail to use and have no clue where to find one (besides cutting a piece out of the abandoned rail along President Street). Also where's a good source for decent steel, even leftover scraps? I'm mostly just practicing for now but will take on some projects as I learn. Been watching garage sales and Marketplace but not much luck. Thanks.

Groups to meet up with

So I have been in Savannah for 2 years now and have looked through Facebook, Meetup, and other sites to see if there are any interesting groups that do meetups (things to do like run, have social outings, things to make friends). I have been successful with the run groups (I'm not thick skinned like they are when it gets too hot out), but nothing really else like trivia or getting out. Are there any other suggestions as to where to look?

SCAD holiday spectacular - Megan Hilty?

So I bought tickets to this year’s event but since then, Megan Hilty has been cast in a new broadway show during these same dates.

They haven’t made any announcements that she is bowing out of the SCAD show, but does anyone have any insight or backstage info?

I’d hate for them to be sneaky and wait to announce she’s not attending too late for me to try and resell my tickets…

Chemical peels

Heyy! I’m new to the area and I am looking to get a facial chemical peel. Specifically the green sea peel or something similar. Wondering if anyone had any recommendations for places around the area that do good work and are trustworthy? It’d also be a plus if they were experienced in melanated skin as well. Thanks!

Recommendations for nice downtown restaurants that can host 28 people in a private/semi-private room for dinner or brunch?

Looking for two restaurants to host my company's annual holiday party, one for dinner, one for brunch. Ideally a private space for dinner, but could be OK with semi-private dining too. We tend to be loud and chatty, and may even play a game or have a short toast at dinner.

Would prefer the dinner restaurant to be on the nicer side and within walkable downtown as we have out of town employees who come in and stay downtown for this event. Brunch can be anywhere willing to host us, regardless of casualness or privacy.

Some dinner ideas/options we've done in the past: Husk, 45 Bistro, Ruth's Chris, Local 11Ten. For brunch we've done Repeal 33, Little Duck Diner, and Funky Brunch.

Headed in this weekend

We will be staying close to the park and would love some ideas of things to do and where to go. In town for a five-day 26th anniversary trip. We’ve done some research and I’ve scoured this sub. But what recommendations do YOU have for us? We are not renting a car and plan to Uber, shuttle and/or walk anywhere we need to go. We love antiquing, my husband collects old used license plates every trip we go on, and we are looking forward to some awesome food so would love some recommendations. What do you have for us?
