Help
Hey ! I have been learning Sanskrit under a guru. I got laghusiddhant till panchasandhi completed. Then my guru said about learning the भाषा. From then on I did reading of some good books to get acquainted to sanskrit learning as बृहदनुवाद चन्द्रिका. Now i know all basics of sanskrit and I can go ahead and if i try hard then I can understand a typical sentence. Now, to get proficient, I'm thinking of ditching the language learning books and start on the literature reading cause I think that's what will get you proficient in that easily and fast. Is it good? And do I have to really learn full amarkosh? And are there more tips for easy and fast ways of संस्कृतभाषाध्ययन?

You might like to read śubhāṣitas or purāṇas (they use other five lakāras too) But usually purāṇic language is simple and direct.
Hitopadeśa and pañcatantra are good start too if you don't wish to enter poetry
