Helsinki Harbour Rail was a track serving many of the ports of Helsinki. It was built in the late 19th century and decommissioned in several parts from about 1970 to 2009. The parts pictured here were closed in 1980. Aside from a few preserved bits, all trackage has been removed since.
Pictured here is the swing bridge leading towards the Market Square of Helsinki, and a small stretch of track left in place in the square itself. The bridge is left permanently open to allow tourist boats to pass.
Picture 4 is a 1930 map of the city, with Harbour rail being the track branching off before the central station (top-center) and running along the coast of the city.

1970 aerial here, photographer Simo Rista (public domain)
1907 photo of steam engine on the bridge here, photographer Signe Brander (public domain)
Current day photos are my own. I have some more photos from along the line that I may post later.

I just recently drove across this railroad bridge! It was a historic railroad bridge and was converted to a single lane road toll bridge by a farmer in the 1960s. I didn't even realize it was an old rail bridge until a week later. I thought you all might enjoy 360 4K VR driving tour video of me crossing. Enjoy! Get the full 360 view by watching in YouTube!
Crossing the Cannonball iron truss bridge over the Wabash River from Lawrence County, Illinois (near St. Francisville, IL) to Knox County, Indiana (near Vincennes, IN).
Here is the old railroad info and a source for you to check out.

Less and less hope of this one ever coming back. Third photo is the remains of Welland Canal Bridge 10 which connected to this spur and let rail traffic cross the canal. It was a vertical lift bridge removed sometime around 1997.
(Taken on a run so I apologize for the less than ideal angles here)

The only remnant of the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway. It’s placed in the middle of the roundabout through the right of way it once passed.

Recently the City rebuild the Road surounding the crossing. Found it quit funny because the railroad is closed since 2008. Wanted to share it with you people. Picture taken by me Yesterday. :)
PS. Herzberg is located in Brandenburg, Germany.

Now used as walk and biking bridge, this unique quintuple lattice bridge was built
In 1881 by Leighton Bridge and Iron Works for the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railway, better known as The Omaha Road. The bridge is 930 feet long and approx 95 feet above the water. Originally it carried the Omaha’s mainline over the Chippewa River, but in 1912 the Omaha built a new double-track bridge upriver, and this was used to service their west side spur in Eau Claire until being abandoned under the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad in 1992. Eau Claire gained ownership in 2007 and finished the trail use conversion in 2015. It is the only known railroad bridge of this lattice style in the United States. My photos from summer 2026.
