What are you guys using for physics 1 and 2 nowadays?
r/RPI • u/Meggaboo • 9h ago
It’s mostly for CS classes in my experience with some exceptions. Never heard of WebAssign though, so to answer your question, I don’t think it’s used anymore.

i’m currently a sophomore here. applied regular decision, comp sci major, 3.4 high school gpa, 0 APs, and test optional. got $45k in merit aid, 0 need based aid.

What the hell is a submitty? You guys don't use webassign anymore? Or is this just for CS?

Real bush league to allow the certificate to expire. Somebody dropped the ball on that.

Hey, I'm looking for 2 more people at 2155 13th St with all info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RPI/comments/1x2zr3p/spring_2027_housing_2155_13th_st_600month_all/
I'm looking for two people (which will be 600/month, utilities included). However, laundry is not included but is present in a very short walk (costs 2.50 for wash and dry).

Maybe check out some of the cross-listed math/cs classes? They tend to be a little proof heavy, so more writing and less coding overall. I remember really enjoying graph theory with slota.
And also a huge upvote for intro to quantum computing classes if they're offered in CSCI. I took one in the PHYS department as a math major for fun and found it pretty easy to catch on to, as the theory is based on linear algebra.

Here's an update bro: Dr Cutler sent an email saying that Submitty is down due to the certificate not being renewed. It will be fixed first thing tomorrow morning
For now, I'd suggest working on other HWs or going to bed. If the assignment is due on 11:59 today, then I pray for you

I think the safest option rn is to just email the professor

Ok basically submitty needs to push a fix and there’s nothing you can do about it. Email prof tell him sight is fucked till morning

If this is a goldshimdt class he extended the deadline

i won’t disagree with you, but at the same time you’ve gotta give him credit for getting the crowd into it. for a 1,900 attendance listed on friday, the field house was buzzing.

I don’t know what happened to Al, but I really dislike how the new guy mumbles through the opposing team’s starting lineup, or when he gives the players names for a non-RPI goal. Does the same thing for women’s games.
I get it, he doesn’t want to be enthusiastic when talking about the other team scoring or doing their line up. But the least he could do is annunciate.

Recent grad here. My understanding is that pretty much all domestic students receive pretty generous merit aid. I applied EA with no financial need, got in off the wait list and received ~$35k off yearly tuition (Leadership award). Everyone I've spoke to received similar. I don't know anyone at RPI (except maybe international students) who paid anything close to the $60k sticker price. I can't say for certain if applying ED vs EA changes the schools willingness to give out aid but I doubt it.

Do not ED unless it is your top choice and you don’t need any aid. You will almost certainly get in anyway and be in a stronger aid position if you EA.

If money is a concern, apply to some peer institutions and institutions slightly above RPI and leverage the aid they give you to get more aid from RPI.
Regarding the medal, it at least used to be the case that they'd give you the Leadership Award if you didn't have the medal and qualified for aid. I also couldn't get the medal.

Don’t do early decision please. RPI is a target school if you got in with ED you’ll get in with EA. RPI is still struggling with enrollment trust me they are not that selective. Also talking with financial aid office and appealing your financial aid offer with provide you way more financial incentive then the silly scholarship will.
For merit scholarships you should expect around half of cost of attendance for medal and you can easily get them to go from 35 to ~45/50k in financial aid a year.
