Discussion Tutorials in Groove are too long

I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way, but around Remix 10, I just got too tired of the tutorials and started skipping them and guessing during the game what I needed to do. Most of the time, it only took me the first inputs of the game to realize which button I needed to press, or course it helps than most of the minigames at that point are second version of others minigames.

Only once or twice I lost and needed to play the minigame again, but even losing, I felt like the minigame itself was a better tutorial than doing the actual tutorial.

Hard agree. Did all of them without skipping on my first playthrough because I didn't want to miss any funny dialogue or any last minute additional cues and it felt exhausting.

Yep same, I just want to know which buttons are used and maybe see the main cues once or twice but ultimately learn it on the fly. Ended up skipping all of them past the first couple rows

I agree, at least for myself, but it also should be noted that this game was also designed to be fully playable by blind and visually impaired players, which longer tutorials help accomodate since if you’re playing without visual stimulus it’s much harder to feel out how the game works while playing.

That should be a setting

I definitely agree with this. There's nothing wrong with having tutorials, but we don't need individual practices for every single cue variation in every single game. The tutorial for Wiper Bosses in particular is the most egregious example of this. Like, you can teach multiple things in one small tutorial. The good thing is though, you never have to play them more than once. So it's really only an issue on the first playthrough.

I agree, but this being my first game since Fever (which I was too young to be any good at), I appreciated it as a way to get my bearings and rhythm again. So while I definitely agree with them being too long for my liking, I appreciate them being long to accommodate more players. Another commenter also brought up a good point about them being longer helping to accommodate for blind players, which is always appreciated as an accessibility feature.

And hey, you can always skip them if you don't need them.

They aren't compulsory, you're able to skip almost immediately. If they aren't for you then they will be for someone else who needs them!

I think it's a symptom of our generation's lack of patience
