To be fair, it's only his second season in the majors.

If my math is right, at this rate he’ll have 47 gold gloves

DURBIN!!! So happy for him

Stands a pretty decent shot of winning it too. Though I'm not sure if they'll want to give the Sox 3 GG winners in the same year and unlike Rafaela and Abreu, Durbin has real competition in the form of Brooks Lee.

Its not unheard-of to have three or four winners on one team. Remember the Hosmer-Gordon-Perez-era Royals?

I don't think they care much about which team has winning players. I also don't think Lee is much competition. Durbin has him beat in every defensive metric, including a 8.8 to 2.2 lead in SDI as of SABR's last update in August, which counts for 25% of the GG process.

By SDI Abreu, Rafaela, and Durbin are all top 4 in the AL among all fielders.

You cant spell Caleb Durbins without spelling Caleb Dubs

You didn’t go through all the Devers/Bregman drama, upgrade defensively from both of them only to then have Durbin not be playing 3B for the long haul. Find offense elsewhere.

I like the point you're making, but let's go a step further, and say that if your third baseman wins a Gold Glove and puts up 4.5 bWAR, you don't need as much offense as you think. The guy was basically Brooks Robinson, this year, and saved so many runs that he doesn't need to do much more than put up a 100 OPS+.

If he were to pop 35 HR and drive in 100 runs, he's Mike Schmidt.

And the Red Sox lose again in the playoffs because they can't score runs against elite pitching? I like Durbin, but your theory is flawed because you need to score runs to win. Again, I am not saying Durbin needs to be replaced, I think he is only going to get better, but having the team with the most Gold Gloves in the league each season isn't going up on a banner... This team is in dire need of another elite bat or 2, if they can upgrade to an elite offensive 3b via trade they would have to consider it.

Neither is being the team with the most home runs. They didn't even manage a winning record.

You missed my point completely. Saving runs == driving in runs.

He is a hugely valuable player even at 95 WRC+ at the plate.

Yay! That's my dirt-dawg!

Where are all the "he's too short" losers?

He’s only in his second year

So well deserved. Played his heart out at third this season.

This is his first time being eligible. Wtf you mean first time in his career 😭

u/BossAtUCF 6h ago

He was definitely eligible last year for a gold glove.

Plenty more where that came from

Remember the entire first half of the season when the sub hated him. I'm so glad he worked out. He was a hard worker and earned it all.

I think he was booing his offensive output as well

And fans were upset we let Breggy go

Bregman is still better than him
