All Spoilers Appolonius Spoiler
I know the whole point is people at that level are all bastards to some degree but damn, The Minotaur is the perfect adversary. Like, we’ve all heard of anti-heroes but he’s an anti-villain. Every scene with him is wonderful. One of the best characters in the series

Villain, hero, Monster, such almost pedestrian titles invented by lesser men desperate to put into a box that which they can not understand. I am the crescendo of a symphony written in blood, the beast at the heart of the labyrinth who does not cower and wait in fear of his challenger but in exquisite anticipation! And you my Goodman are part of the few who have grasped what so many have failed to understand!

He's so dramatic and performative it's hilarious, like a sociopathic theater kid who became one of the solar system's deadliest killers

Genuinely. You don’t understand how much I love to say “War the mortal hallelujah” like TGR says it in the audiobooks or recite the little song from when Darrow tried to fight him in LB 😂. He’s so much fun

I’m on the dramatization now when they crash the pool party on Venus😂😂

Yes! And the crazy thing is, I don’t actually think he’s performing for anyone but himself

agreed it's mostly 'to thine own self be true', but i think there's a lil performance in there for Darrow as well. i always enjoy when the more militant golds and obsidians develop slight man-crushes on Darrow for being such an effective destroyer.

The Reaper and The Minotaur definitely wish they were on the same side. Listening again now, Darrow wants to like him and Apollonius is all excited to fight alongside him

Apple in the audiobooks, especially the dramatic interpretation... Chef's kiss

I wish they got the gem of an audiobook narrator (I forgot his name) to do voices in the graphic audio dramatization

Tim Gerard Reynolds my goodman

Many thanks, goodman! I’ve definitely told ppl he’s a great voice actor too 😂… I’ll confess, I’ve had a dram or three while cavorting with the common folk 😂😂😂

Not what an Anti-Villian is, but you're not wrong about him being delightful to hate

u/Pure-Leather-8871 Minotaur of Mars 21h ago
Okay, just looked it up; I suppose, in the strictest definition, Lysander, The King of Pixies, is the anti-villain 😮💨

u/sgtpepper42 Orange 21h ago
Hmm that I could be convinced to agree with, but still fuck that guy

u/Pure-Leather-8871 Minotaur of Mars 21h ago
Hence why I refer to him as King of Pixies, my goodman

u/sgtpepper42 Orange 20h ago
Oh no doubt! I just can't keep myself from emphasizing my hatred whenever I must speak of him

And isn’t that truly the mark of a well written character? That we have visceral hatred for them? That we grieve when they perish? (Now picture Apps saying that 😂😂😂)

If Vegeta is an anti-hero, then Apps is an anti-villain 😂😂 I’m sure you’re right. Yes, delightful to hate and hate to love lol

Not sure what makes him Anti in your eyes.. Apple is a pure villain through and through

u/Pure-Leather-8871 Minotaur of Mars 21h ago
I don’t think Apps is evil, he has 25 Charisma in DnD terms lol. Do I think he is to be forgiven? Absolutely not. He’s like Hannibal Lecter almost, you love the guy and think he’s so cool and you forget what they’ve done. I actually heard recently that OJ Simpson was like that. As in, you meet them in person, knowing what he did but you find yourself liking him despite yourself

I’d still rather have Tactus, especially after reading book of Lorn, but having Apollonius was really nice. The end of IG when he had that Batman spotlight over him in the battle lol, and then he saves Darrow. Though obligatory Fuck Tharsus.

I like that there’s something to like or appreciate about Apollonius and Tactus, but Tharsus is universally hated for the pathetic waste of space he is by the community

Yeah with Tactus at least, I will always have when he cuts Cagney in half at the Gala. God she was so awful. I was really pleasantly surprised how much I loved Book of Lorn which is like Red Rising Slice of Life. There’s a scene I won’t spoil too much but Tactus Virginia Darrow and Roque meet Victra for the first time and it’s so good. I highly recommend it for anyone that loves these books.

I would like to see Tactus playing the violin with Lysander having won a nice easy war where Fitchner’s plan worked 🥺😭

He is literally one of my favorites.
It’s the honesty really. He just doesn’t give a fuck and he knows he’s tough.

He is unapologetically himself always and it’s refreshing when so many characters are always pretending
