Theyâve agreed not to trigger the extension and let him play out his final year in exchange for an apology and retracting his views. They think this will sweep it under the carpet but the damage has been done. We now know there is unrest in the dressing room and weâre now left to guess who else is looking for the first ticket out of the club

Right! There is no sweeping this under the rug. With every loss the scrutiny will get harsher.

The board are still extremely cowardly and still not taking accountability for this shitshow that has started since they publicly fawned over Ashworth, had their wobble on retaining/firing EtH, then firing Ashworth.
Nothing from the club and making sure the player says everything via their personal platform, but the club drafts the statement and sends it public through Lisandro.
Need to keep the pressure on the board and keep calling them out. Glazers are leeches and INEOS/Wilcox are two faced liars who cannot take criticism in private or public without proper accountability.

Show us youâre trying. That goes for everyone at the club. Show us, your fans, that you are fucking trying.
Thatâs all I want. If we donât win a title for a few years, I just want to see the players giving their all, and for us to have some positive things to talk about. It feels like every fucking club in the league has more fun than us. Watching a United match is torture.
Just give us a match where we bang five goals in and we can all celebrate. I donât care if we donât win the league. Those days are over for now. The Glazers have seen to that. Iâd just love to watch a United match where we arenât shit and itâs not just depressing.
Imagine being a life-long Brentford or Brighton fan. Yeah youâve followed them in lower leagues, but now look at it. What a fucking dream. They actually get to look forward to watching their team play! We just fucking dread it.

There is leverage on all sides, so not surprised this comes out as a unified front to make it clean.
The board/manager aren't in a position to drop him, ironically, due to a lack of reinforcement â De Ligt is just coming back. Can't play 90, hasn't featured. Maguire is out of favor/on the return. And both Heaven and Yoro have their moments, but are also shaky. On top of that, Shaw and our LB problem.
So frankly, punishing him creates a worse situation for Carrick and Wilcox, etc.
On the flip side, if Martinez truly wants to go and wants to end his tenure here, what does he gain by being benched for the rest of the season? Harder to sell him, harder to move on. And one could argue now other clubs worry he is a loose cannon. If he cares about the club as a means to get monetary gain and his own monetary move, he should try and show he is levelheaded as well.

Defeat.
This is probably the lowest I've felt.
The club is in a state of capture, I have no other words to describe it.
The only meaningful course of action I see is widespread and sustained protest.

What the hell were you expecting? Licha beheading all of them and taking over the club?
-4
u/HorribleOldCunt 3h ago
This is pathetic stuff from our fans on this.
What were you expecting from this? A full on civil war within the club leading to the leadership being overthrown?
He decided to make a statement that bought pressure to the club. Nothing more than that. The pretending this was some amazing stand and that he should be praised for whinging like this amazes me. Us being amazingly shit at the start of this season is not excused because we didn't buy a left back or striker.
5
u/BucketsOnly29 2h ago
Youâre just completely missing the point and it makes me sick. This is sustained negligence from up top and his comments put more pressure on that fact than anything else could have or has in years. âA lb or stâ is not all heâs talking about & if you believe that youâre just daft beyond measure. We do not have a squad capable of competing on all fronts, heâs not talking about not signing two players.

u/botlobbies 2h ago
Do you know how much Manchester Utd have spent on players since Ferguson left? It's not too far off the other big spenders in the prem. It's been misspent on an epic proportion and they are trying not to keep doing that.
By your logic no matter what they spent this season wouldn't have appeased you, crazy statement.
â˘
u/Sorry_Recording2869 1h ago
This was true at some point but clearly not anymore. And also this is not just a post Ferguson thing. When ronaldo left we brought it owen on a free and Valencia:).
You lost a world class player in casemiro and you did not replace him. Let alone upgrade the squad in any way. But the board probably talks about competing for titles inside those contract negotiations. Ofc players are going to get mad
0
u/canwinanythingwkids meet the new boss same as the old boss 2h ago edited 2h ago
I reject your framing, friend. We are not going to talk about what I was "expecting".
I reject your choice of words as well, I'll let the mods decide whether calling others pathetic skirts the newly established rules or does not, but either way I find that offensive.
Ive said since the beginning of 2024 that we will need to see the totality of a CL summer window before we can surmize whether the long running budget suppression policies have now been cancelled or not.
Alas, we have entered a new world in my view since September 2nd 11PM: the world in which we now know that the Glazer sons' ambition throttling of the club continues.
Then, on top of that, we have suffered a number of high profile blunders at the hands of the executive, on everything from abusing season ticket holders to a moral and/or competence failure of absurd proportions coming to light.
This has created a situation that has made the position of the executive completely untenable in the eyes of anybody who A) is paying attention B) has the same priorities that we do.
In other words, there were only 2 remaining explanations:
1 the board is not paying attention enough
2 the outcomes produced by the execs align with the vision of the board, ie they do not have the same priorities that supporters do, regardless of PR statements to that effect
The straightforward conclusion was that what we needed was a moment in which the owners would have to show their cards conclusively, ie choosing between Berrada&Wilcox and supporting the squad, in other words: choosing between Berrada&Wilcox and us.
Easy enough to say, but rather hard to envision exactly how that would happen, innit.
And then, as if by magic, what Martinez has said has given us precisely that moment.
So now the board had to make their choice known.
And now they did. Loud and clear.
There is, therefore, no more uncertainty left.
Now it cant be argued with a straight face, imho, that the things that have happened, have been system errors, but rather that they represent what Avram Glazer, Joel Glazer, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe want precisely.
In other words: they arent keeping Berrada & Wilcox on because they dont realise the "damage" they are doing to our cause - they are keeping them on because Berrada & Wilcox are executing faithfully according to the priorities of their cause.
Im not sure which part of the above was not bloody obvious to anybody paying attention, but anyway, now you perhaps understand it better.

You've gone crying to the mods because you're offended I think this whole thing is pathetic? Are you being serious?
I reject your justification too.
Forget about whether you think our transfer window was bad or anything to do with the executives. We should still be performing far better than we have shown. There is no excuse for the poor level of performances we have shown.
Martinez threw his toys out the pram because he's been getting correctly criticised for poor performances. Even in our one good performance this season he had a clanger in there. I don't respect his words on this as all he did was bring the entirity of the football media to our door bringing far more pressure.
He doesn't get a pat on the back for pointing out the obvious either. He should focus on not costing us goals every time he plays.

Nah putting out this statement doesnt delete what he previously said from existence. Everyone with minimum 5 working neurons knows this post is kinda forced on Lisandro.
Not like him speaking up was gonna achieve much even if he died on that hill. Years of mediocrity havent sparked improvement in the glazer cunts, one player whose contract is set to expire giving a snarky interview wasnt going to. Still, feels good for someone to finally speak the truth out loud.
-8
u/Stunning_Ad_9806 3h ago

7
u/SlippinGimmy 3h ago
Maybe, just maybe this has been aired privately from the players who have been hit with promises of improvements as reported and itâs not been reciprocated!
Sometimes going the public route from a player confirms Media and Fan suspicions and now the club has no where to hide, hopefully this is a wake up call to all those sheisters on the board
6
u/ClawingDevil 3h ago
This is exactly what I think has happened. There have been reports that Bruno's contract talks stalled from his side cause of a lack of ambition from the club. Don't know how true they are, but it's entirely possibly especially when you see how frustrated he is and there was a diary of a ceo interview as well I think where he said something along those lines.
Then you've got Shaw and Maguire who clearly thought in the summer we were going big.
It has really annoyed me hearing so many, including the Athletic, saying "oh, he should have said it in private first". How the fuck do you know he hasn't? It was "in private". Christ. For all we know loads of players have said this privately and they are all pissed off.
Anyone who has worked anywhere with the kind of hierarchy that United currently has knows all the staff whisper shit about the bosses behind their backs. No way it doesn't happen at football clubs too.
I'm so sick of the Glaziers and Ineos now too. They all just need to fuck off or... I cannot speak or I get in trouble...

Judging by this fudge of a statement, he is in the corner, and Glazers think that it's back to the same stingy business. It's typical American corpo shite.
It's unfair to put ambition only on players and managers. We will lose more because any hope is gone now and veteran players stopped playing. After we lose or draw another 4, Wilcox will sack Carrick.

Your comment appears very condescending and passive-aggressive towards fans who're supporting Licha instead of Wilcox in this case and I believe it's 99%.
That's how professionals in high-profile jobs act and while I wouldn't have obv wanted him to post the apology, this was always the end to this. I couldn't care less about this because he has already made a statement that no active player has made at our club since Rooney, so that's almost 16 damn years.

The fact that this public statement exists is the reason Manutd will keep failing. Always try to be professional, commercial and formal, extra safe for sponsor eyes without real football progress. Just swallow this in the stomach and show intensity for the rest of the season. Also replace Dalot and Rashford with signings this winter. How about that cowards.

Lisandro Martinez via Instagram
âToday I met with the club's leadership and the manager. It was a very positive conversation, where we were able to exchange views and speak openly about what happened after Tuesday's game.
Everyone knows that I am a passionate person and that I live football with great intensity.
The frustration of the defeat led me to express how I felt at a time and place that perhaps were not the right ones, and for that I want to apologise.
Our club is at its best when we are all united, and I recognise that my words in that moment did not help with that.
I know that every single person at Manchester United is doing everything possible to achieve our shared ambition: bringing the success that this club and its supporters deserve.
With this situation now behind us, we are fully focused on winning together.â

u/Former-Addendum9671 3h ago
Can't believe i got downvoted in another sub for saying lets put this behind us, everyone do their jobs and focus on the Leeds match.
Do some fans not want that? Do they want there to be drama and chaos at the club making it a high suspense drama week in week out? Think about the damage that will do.
Im sure views were exchanged and the higher ups have taken what he said on board. Lets all be proffessional about this and move on.
We are Manchester United for goodness sakes not TMZ

So just keep quiet and suck it up? Not a chance we need an uprising. The club is rotten from the core and the fans need to be more vocal and making it clear itâs not acceptable. That said fan power doesnât seem to mean too much these days.
Personally, I donât wanna keep watching this drivel week in and week out. Weâre a complete laughing stock. Maybe whatâs good for us in the long-term is some further pain, particularly in the owners pockets.

Everyone has been putting things behind us, doing their jobs and focusing on the next match without publicly calling out the club hierarchy every week for the past 13 years.
And where has it got us? Over a billion pounds in debt. Unable or unwilling to compete to secure all our first choice targets in the transfer market. No meaningful title challenge in a generation. Two games won out of nine so far this season.

Ok. Firstly glazers, I want them to leave our club. INEOS, I want them to stop saying the plan is to win the PL title and then spend nothing.
No one was surprised we spent 150 on 3 midfielders. I'm actually surprised we didn't spend more when you can clearly see the problem. If you can't spend, you have to scout and buy youngsters.
