Its honestly kind of impressive how quickly and abruptly we came crashing back down to earth after a relatively high end to last season

The success is always going to be brittle when we have the systemic issues we do. When we earn record revenue but still are outspent by the promoted teams, have managers and players questioning the capabilities of our higher ups and our ambition and Jingo Jim at the helm marvelling at everything City do, it's no wonder it all comes crashing down after a gust of wind.

There were plenty of users who warned us to be fair. Some really good analysis and skepticism regarding how poorly our underlying stats had become were getting downvoted. Good vibes and a few low XG goals going in dictated the narrative and many didn't want to accept that this wasn't sustainable in the long run.
I had hoped a new midfield would show that Carrick only played the way we did last season out of necessity, but nope. This style is genuinely just the best he can come up with unfortunately, and that's a real shame.

Pretty easy to see it coming after the disastrous transfer window.
Serious fitness issues + thin squad + multiple competitions. Recipe for disaster.

Wouldn't say he has exposed anything. Unless you just don't pay attention to United, everyone has known for years that it's a poorly run club.

Yea exposed isn't the right word. It's more like he's publicly highlighted it.

He said the quiet part aloud. I'm certain players as well as us fans were happy when Ratcliffe announced "best in class" but it's been the same shite as the Glazers.

it's been the same shite as the Glazers.
The thing is I'd actually respect the fact our hands are tied financially if the stupid cunts in charge weren't so utterly useless with how they handle the money. We spent, what, 50M on Santos as a rotation option? Probably another 50M on the hiring/firing of Ashworth and Amorim, plus paying for Ten Hag's extension and his dismissal. That's so much money wasted while the usual suspects are still in charge of these decisions. Not even mentioned Ugarte or Zirkzee here because at least those were considered a replacement (Ugarte) and a low cost release clause (Zirkzee) and misfires in this regard are acceptable but should be recuperable, but aren't because of piss poor planning.
It's all well and good cost-cutting and laying off the common grunts who make pennies in the long run. I mean that seriously, we were clearly a bloated organisation and cuts were harsh but necessary. But if you do that there's an expectation that you don't then piss away silly money on expensive dismissals that completely undermine and undo all the money saved from the cost-cutting.
Long story short: shit cunts, get them gone.

For me, he has exposed that the senior players are talking amongst themselves and saying these things behind closed doors, and he's just the one who blew up and did it publicly.
I don't think he does this by himself.

I hear what you all are saying, but I just don't see that as something that revealing. Players have mentioned roster development before, so it's obviously something the think about and discuss. I will agree though that it does show that it has hit a pretty high level of frustration inside the squad.

Will give it a listen after work. I would guess most of the players agree with him about the transfer business, and it really was appalling and it signals a lack of desire to compete. Its not like there weren't relative budget options out there. Welbeck would have cost almost nothing and would have been very useful. We should have gone for Hall immediately. We shouldnt be playing players out of position in several positions this early in the season as a direct consequence of our transfer business

What I found most striking is that the entire panel agreed that this came out of nowhere, that they had no intel or reason to believe the players were upset with Wilcox. They made an interesting point that some players may feel their careers are being wasted by poor recruitment as well as our inability to sell. So someone like Zirkzee, who clearly has suitors, because we are inept at offloading players, situations like his can often turn into frustration with those making those decisions.
I liked that they agreed with Licha but they also say the uncomfortable part out loud. Hes oft injured, and makes mistakes at times. If we did recruit he could have very well been the odd one out.

He was 100% right in what he said, I don't care what the pundits and journalists have to say. Wilcox and Berrada should have been fired the moment the City verdict came out anyway.

What Licha has revealed is not only the reason we underperform this season, but also why United never have been a title contender for years.
The club has been poorly run. To turn it around you got to invest smarter AND bigger than the teams already above you.
However what United have been doing is exactly the opposite. Qualify for CL and spend less, miss out and spend more -- this forever vicious cycle prevents us from building a well rounded squad to compete.
The address one position per window strategy since Ineos took over has been praised as shrewd, but it is just another form of accepting mediocrity.
We are so far behind our rivals, spending as much as them does not necessarily mean we are ready for title challenge, but spending less certainly means we have no chance.

"Ratcliffe and the Glazers set the budget"
Laurie, twice, around the 15m mark.
I remember the discussions about this in January when I tried to argue we wont know whether the Glazer chokehold over the topline number has actually been removed until we've seen a summer where we are in the CL but we spend big.
I was repeatedly told Ive no idea what Im talking about, Ineos has taken over, read the articles. Given examples like The Athletic reporting it.
I tried pointing out the small sentences here and there, beyond the headlines, beyond the ledes, that raise the question. But, no, Im an idiot.
Now what do we have here, Laurie Whitwell, The Athletic reporter, just casually confirming that oh yeah of course the Glazers retain control over the overall transfer budget.
Oops.
This is not meant to absolve SJR of any blame, btw, not for being a fashy idiot, and not for giving the keys over to a couple of incompetent dirty cheats.

Gary Neville and the Overlap were embarrassing on this. Spinning this 'Licha is calling out his teammates for being not good enough'. Was clear with his statement + social media post it was aimed at the executives

It's almost 48 hours since Manchester United lost 2-0 at Atletico Madrid and the repercussions of Lisandro Martinez's post-match outburst have yet to be felt in earnest. We review our thoughts in light of his subsequent social media statement. What does his United future look like now?
Martinez has been criticised for speaking out but he has shone a spotlight on some very real problems, not least this summer's transfer business. Were his comments entirely fair, and how might leadership react?
Next up for Michael Carrick's United squad is a trip to Elland Road; can they shut out the noise, there will be plenty of it, and somehow carve out a result? With squad frailties exposed and Bruno yet to find his best form this season, Premier League-toughened Leeds will be looking to take advantage.

Maybe, just maybe this has been aired privately from the players who have been hit with promises of improvements as reported and it’s not been reciprocated!
Sometimes going the public route from a player confirms Media and Fan suspicions and now the club has no where to hide, hopefully this is a wake up call to all those sheisters on the board
