Anyone concerned about Dorofeyev?

How has his underlying numbers/metrics looked?

1 goal on 23 shots. At this point, is 30 goals and 60 points doable? I was expecting that as his floor but not sure now.

Pleasantly suprised

I’ve watched every game but one so far and that was the Capitals one(so glad I didn’t) but this team looks very good. Laffy is playing like what they drafted him for. They play good defense and physical. Penalty kill is top notch.I love watching Durzi is blast for me to watch, he’s always in the middle of shit. I’ll give 9.5/10 so far.

What Grade Are You Giving Garand So Far?

I know it way too early to make some kind of serious judgement on Garand but so far I am extremely surprised and satisfied with his performance. Especially with the route he used to get where he is. The Rangers have always been fortunate with goaltending and it seems like Garand maybe another perfect example.

Rangers Pass - Bait and switch

Anyone else notice the Rangers Pass now includes upper bowl seats? When I signed up, it was advertised as lower bowl only.

Pretty disappointing that they changed the offering without notifying subscribers. Feels like a bait-and-switch, especially for those of us who signed up specifically for lower bowl seats.

[Baugh]: How Alexis Lafrenière, Tye Kartye took different paths to become faces of Rangers’ hot start

Going into the season, if a soothsayer had told New York Rangers fans that Alexis Lafrenière was going to have an offensive breakout, the team’s supporters would have been elated but perhaps not surprised. As for fellow 25-year-old Tye Kartye, a formerly undrafted waiver claim from the Seattle Kraken less than a year ago? That would have felt too good to be true.

And yet eight games into the season, those two wingers — linemates after Kartye’s promotion to the second line in the third game of the season — are skating with chemistry and explosiveness. They propelled the Rangers to a 4-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday and have been two of New York’s best overall forwards in the team’s encouraging 6-2-0 start.

“We’re playing the right way,” Kartye said of his line, which also includes captain J.T. Miller, whom he called a hard, predictable player. “(Especially) when you add somebody as skilled as Laf, I think, the way he’s able to make plays and hold on to the puck.”

Miller’s hard-nosed forechecking has been consistent, even if goals have yet to come for him, and he brings an element of physicality, as he showed when he laid out Lightning defenseman Maxwell Crozier in the second period. But his two linemates have delivered the offensive firepower, in particular Lafrenière, who is up to seven goals and 10 points in eight games.

JT

  • Kartye made a great play. It doesn’t always happen that way. Everything went right for the goal to happen.
  • Cuylle’s goal was “enormous.” Their showing their identity is getting better as the game goes on.
  • They’ve been forechecking well most nights. It’s important to be hard to play against.

Laf

  • It feels great to win at home after last year.
  • Kartye works every shift. He’s fun to watch and fun to play with.
  • The group is having a lot of fun. “Just being at the rink is great.”
  • Their third periods have been good. They’ve been closing out games.

Garand

  • He’s focused on one day at a time and stopping pucks.
  • A big difference between the NHL and AHL is that the NHL has more traffic in front of the net. His defense has been doing a good job of letting him see pucks.
  • He’s told the team that they’ve been playing well in their own end, they’ve been “playing unreal” and they need to keep it up.
  • Hearing fans chant his name was good but weird. Usually that is for Igor.

Cuylle

  • They’re focused on their game.
  • If they’re playing the right way, their opponent will get frustrated.

Sullivan

  • He thinks they are really starting to develop an identity. They’re checking and focused on the play off puck.
  • Garand is doing a good job, and the group in front of him is doing a good job at limiting the quality of shots he’s facing.
  • He told the guys they couldn’t be more proud of the team identity they are building. There is “good team talk” on the bench. They’re appreciative of the small, often thankless things that other guys are doing.
  • The leadership group is doing a good job on helping to establish what it takes to win at home.
  • He doesn't see their style as boring. It sounds like hockey. It’s exciting because they're getting after it in all three zones. (He was expanding on what JT had said. When a reporter said that his explanation was better:  “JT has a way with words.”)
  • Mika is finishing his checks and participating physically. That physicality is a big part of JT’s game. Both JT and Mika are playing the right way, and a byproduct is that they’re getting good looks.
  • “Remps had a solid game for us. He didn’t get a whole lot of minutes; our fourth line didn’t get a whole lot of minutes because of the nature as the game evolved." They intended to get them more minutes, but with matchups and defending the lead, they didn’t get those minutes. “In the short minutes that Remps played, he made an impact and I think that’s what he does for a group.”
  • Rempe’s hand is okay.
  • Laba’s line is building chemistry and an identity. They are good defensively, but also have an offensive side. They’re game has been at another level in the past couple of games.

I’ve noticed a trend here.

The game that the rangers have won had the defense allowing 2 or less goals and the 2 games we did lose(Boston not here) we allowed 3 goals.

It comes down to our defense being consistently good if we want to compete.
